464237 tn?1315674393 What a coincidence First week I used over the counter Flonase I caught a nasty cold. a few weeks later I used it again and caught another flu type illness. I just read these posts and have figured out that Flonase lowers the immune systems. Throwing this stuff out!
16784220 tn?1451427520 The pain was in the left temple, going over the ear, into the neck and base of skull yesterday, then it switched sides. I was having ear congestion but thats off an on now, all docs checked ears and they were very clean and nice. I am fearing carotid artery stuff, brain tumours and cancer, since my dad died from that, I know I had a scan on the August 9th (non contrast CT) but im anxious as hell and i want to enjoy life. I cant live like this. I have even been doing flonase.
Avatar f tn Thanks again for your comments. Presently I am taking an allergy over-the-counter med and advair in the evening. In the day time I take flonase and use the salt water solution several times in the day time. Used to smoke. Really worried that things won't improve or does it take quite some time after you quit?
Avatar n tn Tough question. There are many reasons for post nasal drip and tinnitus. If your nose is still running, could it be sinusitis? Do notice any weird smells from your nose? Headaches? A chronic sinus infection will cause post nasal drip. But it could be that one month with Flonase isn't long enough to get your symptoms under control. I would say 2 months would be more reasonable to decide if there is something else. this type of therapy takes a while for things to set in.
Avatar m tn All different specialists seem to have a different prognosis and the recommended pills over the years have not really done any good. None of them seem to relate to the closure of the windpipe and cant give me a straight answer when I ask them. Has anyone an answer or better still has anyone else had this problem.
Avatar m tn You are also going to be bending over forward in the shower. The shower is not a good place to find out that bending over makes you dizzy. Practice it first before you get in a shower, no matter how young and fit and healthy you assume that you are. Stand in front of a bed or couch or a carpeted floor. Slowly bend forward as far as you can comfortably bend, and look between your legs at the crotch. Slowly stand up erect.
Avatar dr m tn Allegra (which should be coming out over-the-counter soon), nasal steroid sprays (Flonase, Nasonex, Rhinocort, Nasacort, Veramyst), and Singulair. Astelin is an antihistamine nasal spray. Different people respond differently to each of these medications, so it’s important to talk to your doctor about which one may be right for you.
612551 tn?1450025775 I have tried the generic for Flonase (fluticasone) which didn't help much, not ow Astepro (not a steroid) which is a little more help, but none are as good as the over the counter Afrin (or similar) which can not be used for long periods. This congestion led me to recognize I have some trouble waking up with a suffocation sensession. .
Avatar f tn I have been on Flonase but never on the other inhaler so I will take steps to purchase the O.T.C. spray Afrin. Is this over the counter or by prescription? I am glad to hear your mom is better and I pray that this works for me as well. Once again I am so, so happy that you have taken the time to respond. Thank you again.
Avatar n tn flonase, nasalcrom(recommended by doc/over the countr), claritin D12 (the one without D doesn't work. this is now over the counter as well), and Singular (my latest finding that works well) -- but still these are all drugs. and i'm all about not taking the drugs if there's a natural way to drain these annoying mucus. Someone introduced me to Yoga. I don't really care for it but this one basic stand if you give it a few minutes, will completely drain out your sinus.
Avatar n tn He told me to take the sudafed that you get behind the counter because he also had the same feelings years ago and after going from doctor to doctor and then finally almost being thrown out I guess maybe he found that it was his sinus'. I recently was sent to have allergy testing done. I have severe allergies to dust mites and I am now getting allergy shots. Also the doctor had a CT scan done which showed maybe chronic sinusitus. I have started taking three-lac.
Avatar n tn I am thinking to do the shower thing which I read about which is to cleanse my sinus passages by bending over in the shower (can't quite figure it out yet) and let the water run into the nasal passages, you have to be sure you won't get dizzy and fall, of course. But I keep thinking it's an infection from something that might have gotten into my nose or from dental work. it's annoying and I worry that if it's a fungus or viral thing it will travel to my brain and heart. Oh well ...
Avatar f tn So now after 3 years now I have been suffering from horrible sinus congestion, pressure, pain all over my sinus areas, headaches, also associated with sickness to my stomache and dizzeness with light headness also I can't sleep do to all these problems I have taken everything from over the counter medicines live advil congestion, anything with decongestion nose sprays like prescribed flonase also clariden d and zytertec d, also many headace relief medications like anything you can imagine over t
231744 tn?1189759427 If you wanted to try medicine, maybe you could try over the counter sinus cleaners or decongestants. But I dont think it is safe to take them for long periods of time. Anyway, I hope this helps!! If you have any questions, please ask!!
Avatar m tn I have been in and out of psych hospitals over the past 2 years because I have completely lost my mind. I'm so frustrated all the time due to the constant headaches, pressure, and blurry vision that I cannot work or concentrate on anything. I had another Sinus Surgery in an attempt to correct the problem, and yet again I have become worse. I don't know what to do anymore. My family has not been supportive at all. In fact, they abandoned me in my time of need.
Avatar n tn You can try over-the-counter medications like Claritin or Zyrtec. Steroid nasal sprays like Flonase are also helpful, but they require a prescription by a physician. If medical management fails, immunotherapy (allergy shots) might be required.
Avatar f tn My eyes feel as if someone threw dirt in them, and the only relief is sleep, because i feel so exhausted. I have been subscribe allergy over counter remedies that don't work and flonase. Please what should i do?....I desperately need help!
Avatar m tn Frankly, I've not found any effective manner to clear my nasal congestion through use of over the counter or even prescription drugs. The area I live is a high humidity area, though in the winter time the air becomes much more dry and I still have the same congestion. The good news is that I never seem to get sick or catch colds. Perhaps because I constantly have a thick, salty lining in my throat for the past 10 or more years catching and killing air borne illness.
Avatar n tn She prescribed me flonase and told me to take over the counter claritin. I've been on flonase for about a week with no change. The sore throat and post-nasal drip are persistent and very painful. It particularly worse in the morning, and I have been taking advil for the pain. This has been going on for so long, and I'm a grad student that really can't afford to be sick. If anyone could shed some light on what this might be, I'd really appreciate it!
Avatar m tn I stopped the Humira, and am back on 14 days of antibiotics w/ flonase. Head feels good, but still pain/strain above my eyes in the middle of my forehead. I am only 4 days into my second round of antibiotics, but nervous. I never had any sinus issues in the past. Looking for any advice.
Avatar m tn An ultrasound of my throat last year came back with negative results. I have been taking an over the counter antihistimine/nasal decongestant, flonase and now Singulair (as prescribed by my doctor) to assist with the asthma, however I find that the medication does not always help. I have been wearing a respirator mask that seems to prevent any asthma attacks and even help to prevent them when I am in the middle of an attack. I have also been feeling quite fatigued recently.
Avatar n tn Hi, I've been visiting this forum for about 4 months. I asked my Dr about my allergy meds. My OB said to buy over the counter Clartin. But, I do have allegra. He told me to not take that anymore (I didnt even pop one pill) BUT my other gp told me not to take anything that goes into my blood stream. So he gave me some stuff to sniff. All I take are my synthroid and prenatal pills tho. I'm to scared to take anything else, so I have been suffering. I do sniff my stuff when it gets really bad.
808904 tn?1307061409 ) but I am still afraid to take the over the counter decongestants. I use the flonase daily and a saline lavage. Is this allergies? .What can I do to get relief from these headaches/facial pain and congestion?
Avatar f tn I had multiple courses of steroids, antibiotics, over the counter medication, the sinus issue remains. My doctor has sent me for MRI of the brain as he does not think the facial numbness and tightening is related to my sinus issues, but I really feel it is. Has anyone else had issues with facial tightness, tingling and almost feeling like their cheek is numb due to sinus ? This only occurs on the one side of my face, my ear on that side is now always blocked also. Its driving me crazy.
Avatar dr m tn Besides the reasons mentioned above, saline acts as a mild decongestant, which is similar to the over-the-counter decongestant, Afrin, but not as strong. This is why you can breathe better after irrigation. One of the reasons why you can't use Afrin for more than 3 days is because of the rebound effect, where after the medicine wears off, your nose gets stuffy again, making you use it more and more frequently. Nasal saline, although not as bad as Afrin, also has a mild rebound effect.
Avatar m tn I've had chronic hives for years and have been on various prescription and over the the counter antihistamines with no effect on my hives. Five days ago I had my first injection (300) and it has had no effect on my hives. I'm paying $1400 out of pocket for the treatment and am debating whether to have another two injections. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I work in an old house which was remodeled and recently we have had issues with mold due to the high humidity in the home. We have corrected the issue with the air conditioner to control the humidity levels about a month and half ago, and have had very little problems with mold since. I have been working at this home for about a year and we had these a/c / mold issues recently (past 4 months). I have thought this was the cause of my sinus issues.
865758 tn?1285956504 i don't have any known allergies but know that i have allergies i take bendyrol to much it i wanna stop takin it, i was on a heart montior for 1 month an said that it was sinus tachcardia they have given me flonase nasal spray but that didn't help what did work was univert pills which settled my heart rate down to a healthy level but was told that was for a ear infection i did have vertigo but i think swimming had an impact on that i still have the increased heart rate.
