I've had an upper respiratory infection for about a week. Went to the doctor this morning with severe ear pain, no infection, just inflammation due to the other infection. Was recommended Flonase, rest, and fluids. After I came home and took the Flonase I've had this really weird fizzing sensation off and on at the back of my throat all day. It feels like a handful of poprocks are at the top of my throat/back of my mouth. It's a really weird suggestion.
Tough question. There are many reasons for post nasal drip and tinnitus. If your nose is still running, could it be sinusitis? Do notice any weird smells from your nose? Headaches? A chronic sinus infection will cause post nasal drip. But it could be that one month with Flonase isn't long enough to get your symptoms under control. I would say 2 months would be more reasonable to decide if there is something else. this type of therapy takes a while for things to set in.
s unfortunate when medication costs so much sometimes that we have to find an alternative. Flonase and Astepro are likely the right names. Flonase is a corticosteroid spray and Astepro is an antihistamine spray. Dymista is a combination medication so it makes sense that the doctor is suggesting the two medications will work as the Dymista did. Let us know how it goes.
Starting with Zyrtec, this is an over the counter medication generally regarded as safe. It only is in the system for a short time based on its half life. Children can take this usually without incident. However, once stopped, some allergy sufferers are uncomfortable. Perhaps this is what is going on. Again, please talk to his doctor. Why did you discontinue it? Was there a particular reason? It's an antihistamine.
I notice that the ingredient that in Flonase is the same (fluticasone propionate) is the same one used in flonase..
It occurs to me that flonase might even work better because more of the stream of fluticasone propionate would hit the back of my throat and be swallowed, getting more to my esophagus and less to my mouth.
The key point though is I can get flonase inexpensively, whereas the flovent is more than I can easily afford.
We are glad you are working with your doctor as that is your best source of medical help. As to swelling on the sides of your nose, our body can , certainly react in unusual ways, can't it. He suggests a sinus CT. Has this been offered to you or are they trying the Flonase first?
Were you trying to treat your cough with the Flonase? Was your doctor clear on that?
Flonase can cause coughing as a side effect - https://www.rxlist.com/flonase-side-effects-drug-center.htm - which is probably why your doctor said to stop using it.
If your cough got better using it, maybe it was helping some allergy symptoms, like post-nasal drip.
Did you ask your doctor what he meant, or try to clarify anything?
Also was very agitated while first taking the Flonase and no where in the pamphlet does it mention this is a side effect or to call your doctor if you start coughing, etc. Should have checked the internet like I always do. Needless to say, I am trying not to regret this too much and try to get well.

Geosin, the flonase system evidently has some kind of 'thingie' in the container that deposits the ingredient in the esophagus and not the lungs, so it apparently may not be able to be used in place of the flovent. Perhaps a compounding pharmacy might be able to supply the ingredient in a proper delivery system that might work for you.
Have you also been trying a change in diet? The leading theory about the cause of EE is it represents allergy to some protein found in food.
Starting today, a ticklish feeing in the back of my Thais has appeared and I continue to get the urge of wanting to cough. Did your doctor say what it is, bump or pimple? How do you feel the bump? Is it in the area between the outside skin on your nose and the air channel, or is it against an inside wall of you nose?
Your bumps may be the same as my ear lobe experience. I often have a bump in my ear lobe and while it doesn't bother me much I find myself squeezing the ear lobe with my fingers to feel the bump.
I swear by zinc lozenges on the first onset of a sore throat. I'm only 5 Weeks pregnant and wouldn't you know it, I have the start of a sore throat. anyone know if it's ok to take the lozenges? I know, I know, I need to ask my OB but I don't even have one in place yet since I'm so early on.
I was sick with a cold 2 weeks ago. Never really got congested but sore throat hit me hard as well as fatigue ear pain just felt terrible . The doc said it was a virus with Eustachian tube dysfunction . Sge put me on Flonase The sore throat went awar but was left with a persistent cough for a week . I would wake up and it was so hard to swallow because the Mucus in my throat was so sick.
