Flomax ureteral stone

Common Questions and Answers about Flomax ureteral stone

flomax

Avatar m tn I remain on Flomax and fluids, while trying to resume normal functioning (not allowing a 3 mm stone to take over…) Two brief questions: 1. Could the stone have passed -- without me “catching” it -- despite the use of a strainer? 2. I am scheduled to give a lecture abroad in mid-April and am told it is OK to go – whether or not the stone is out. Do you approve? Thank you again for your generosity! You are providing an important service for which I am truly grateful.
Avatar n tn After having a bladder stone 'blasted' and removed as well as a ureteral stone removed, I had to have a stent inserted and 'wear' a catheter for a week. The catheter kept becoming 'blocked' by blood clots, causing bladder pain. When I called the doctor's office to tell him that urine was coming our around the catheter, his nurse kept saying to take more medicine (the one that quiets bladder spasms).
Avatar n tn How big has been the stone when detected? The urination problem is due to the obstruction by the stone. The symptoms correlate well with the stone in the urethra. The stone has to be removed either through flushing, surgery or through lithotripsy based on the size. In the meanwhile continue flomax and consult your physician.
244602 tn?1215975628 I have screenshots/ exported images from a renal ultrasound done 8/2011, a CT scan done 7/2011, and a CT scan done 12/2009. The 2011 images are of a kidney stone in my left kidney, and the images from teh CT scan in 12/2009 are of a kidney stone in my right kidney that was elsewhere when the CT scan in 7/2011 was done. http://community.webshots.
Avatar m tn Internist prescribed Flomax to help passage of stone by relaxing the muscles of the ureter -- where stone is supposedly currently stuck. Checked urine -- no infection or blood traces. Less abdominal pressure, but still constant urge to urinate -- which is at least partially related to water consumption. Waiting... Happy, healthy birthday!
Avatar m tn 1) the pill taking position, and 2) the fetal position. As for helping to dislodge or assist a stone on its journey, I think about this often. I have not found any studies other than the controversy over whether alpha blockers speed distal ureteral stone passage. Basic physics would seem to indicate that gravity and hydraulic pressure are available forces to use on the stone.
Avatar n tn If your doc prescribed Flomax for the kidney stone, more than likely that is the issue, as it is also prescribed for prostate issues, and is a blocker, like the above poster mentioned. I know this, as I have the same issue... The Internet is a lovely thing...
Avatar f tn Yes, when I have a stone or stones, I'll have a much more frequent urge to urinate than when I don't have a stone. I've also experienced a very slight burning sensation at times with a stone too. Are you on anything like Flomax? I've noticed a more frequent urge since I've been taking Flomax too. Not sure if that's the Flomax, or just my age coming into play.LOL!
187666 tn?1331173345 Hello, Most people with kidney stones will have blood in the urine .The urine may be pink or reddish, or the blood may be visible only with urine dipstick testing or microscopic examination of the urine. In people who do not pass kidney stone lithotripsy is the treatment of choice. It is indicated for stones 1 cm or less in the kidney and upper ureter. Contact your doctor if the haematuria is persisting. Persistent haematuria can lead to weakness, dizziness and hypotension.
Avatar f tn I recently passed a 7.5mm stone(I am a 30 year old male). Three years ago I passed on that was bigger, and at that time it was calcium oxalate. This time it is calcium phosphate. I have been drinking about a half of a glass of lemon juice a day(diluted), and am trying to cut back on my sodium, but want to know what kind of dirt I should follow to prevent more stones. I drink a good amount of water a day already and I am vegetarian(I eat eggs and dairy though).
Avatar n tn Well my urologist scheduled a lithotripsy, but when he performed the procedure he couldnt find the stone, so he stopped it but left the stent it to make it easier for the stone to move. Long story short, having the stent in wasn't painful until I peed. The rush of pain right before the urine flows out is a 9 on a 10 scale and every time you pee it happens. I tried deep breathing right before i let my pee go which helped, basically hyperventilating to forget about the pain.
Avatar n tn I just had a stent put in Sat-4-Sept-2010. My sonic rock crush on Thrs-2-Sept-2010 didn't work on a 5x9 ureteral stone. The cysto was quite mutilating (i'm sure superficially), it left me with a very irritating blood squirting cath setup. My bladder still spazzes.
Avatar n tn i went to doctor he did a scan and said there is a 6.9mm stone (he pointed it in lower abdomen , i think in urinary sack ) he said the tone would pass in a week. and gave me medication -Tamsulosin HCl 0.4mg ,and pain killers . after that day i haven't felt any pain , a mild burning sensation was there yesterday.. but NO serious pain... im wondering now what to do., as i have traveled to another country and visiting a doctor is very expensive here..
Avatar m tn yes my left testicAL IS TURNING HARD AS STONE BUT ONLY ON ONE END, THIS IS THE SMALLER ONE OF THE TWO, I WENT TO SEE MY DOCTOR ABOUT FREQUINT TRIPS TO THE BATHROOM EVERY NIGHT , HE GAVE ME MEDICATION TO RELAX MY PROSTATE WHICH IS FLOMAX 0.4 MG, NOW I HAD A FULL PHYSICAL THAT DAY AND HE DIDNT NOTICE THE HARDNESS OF THE TESTICAL AND NITHER DID I UNTLL THE OTHER NIGHT. IS THE FLOMAX CAUSING THIS? AND IS THIS SOMETHING I NEED TO BE WORRIED ABOUT?
Avatar f tn I just had a cystoscopy for a ureteral stent implant and a foley catheter put in on 04-Sept-2010. My Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL rock-shock) on 02-Sept-2010 didn't work on a 5x9 ureteral stone causing colic. The cysto was quite mutilating (I'm sure superficially), it left me with a very irritating blood squirting cath setup (19 French), but with the anotomical difference of the male urethra I'm sure that's very common.
Avatar n tn I passed the kidney stone now I started taking Magnesium citrate for kidney stone prevention? and where do I buy 10 mg of pyridoxine (vitamin B6)?
Avatar f tn I have had this current stone since July. The pain and symptoms would come and go to where I could deal with it and continue trying to pass it. In October I finally went to a Urologist and had a CT done because the urinary symptoms had gotten so bad. They said that it was right at the bladder and to take the Flomax and drink up. Over the past few months the urinary symptoms have gotten so awful; almost constant urgency, lots of pressure down there and burning.
Avatar m tn The reason I mention this is that the testis can be a site for referred pain from a ureteral stone or a pinched nerve in your spine or a hernia irritating the ilioinguinal nerve that goes to you testis. These are not situations that will respond to antibiotics. Your symptoms sound very much as though you have a ureteral stone. I would not expect keflex to work where doxycycline, one of the first choice antibiotics for epididymitus, did not work.
Avatar m tn I am 29 year male and was diagnosed with bilateral renal calculi in 2000 and have been suffering since 2000. Recently got Ultra sound scan and found 7 mm stone in left kidney and 3mm stone in right kidney. I am adviced by urologist to have Plain KUB CT scan and the reuslt is: 8.0 X 4.32 mm calculi in left kidney, extra renal pelvis on left side and phleboliths in right pelvic.
Avatar f tn I've been having pain for 2 weeks that's been like my other kidney stones. I've had several surgerys to have them removed in the past so I know what I'm feeling. I went to my urologist today and he told me it's a 2mm stone in my kidney and shouldn't be causing pain. So why am I experiencing pain and was able to know it was a stone? Also I haven't been prescribed anything to help with it except narcotics for the pain. No flomax or anything. I don't know what to do.
Avatar m tn Hello. I have a question. My brother is 24 has only one kidney. When he was born they took out his left kidney. Today he has been having very sharp pain in his right side of his back and we went to the emergency room. They made CT scan and blood and urine work. Urine showed no blood but infection. Ct scan showed that he has a 4 mm stone in his urethra. They admitted him to the hospital and stated on 0,45% NACL, gave him antibiotic and flomax.
