Flomax side effects in men

Common Questions and Answers about Flomax side effects in men

Avatar f tn Needless to say, I found this to be disconcerting, and discovered (through onling research) that a decrease in semen production was a common side effect of Flomax. But, I kept on using this combination hoping things would improve with the semen. Needless to say, after approximately 3 weeks, I had the same experience, but this time followed by pain in my lower abdomen (during the end of orgasm sensations).
284078 tn?1282620298 The study out of Canada collected data on over 96,000 men who had cataract surgery. The higher risk of complications was found in the men taking Flomax within14 days of the surgery, but not in men taking other medications for BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia.) The complications noted included retinal detachment, lost lens fragment, infection and inflammation. How does Flomax affect cataract surgery.
Avatar m tn Switch to other medication that does not have prostate side effects. Rule out prostatitis with your urologist. Drink plenty of fluids, in excess of 2000 ml. Increase intake of natural Vitamin C. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and spicy foods. Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.

Avatar m tn Dizziness, unusual weakness, drowsiness, trouble sleeping, or runny nose, fainting, vision changes, sexual problems (difficulty ejaculating, decreased interest in sex), fast heartbeat etc are the usual side effects of flomax. But they can rarely develop after such a prolonged use. Consult a urologist for further help. Best.
Avatar n tn I'm about to research the psychological connection to the passion which arouses us in order to discover how the physiological effects of ejaculation tie in. You are all seeing how ejaculation takes on different forms. No one is seeing it after masturbation. I don't even like masturbation, but the circumstances require that we test ourselves. I'm like the rest of you. No blood after masterbation.
Avatar m tn Most likely neither one is possible for me. If the drugs help with urination, I would remain on them and gladly take the side effects of sexual dysfunction. Currently I will have to decide whether I will remain with the suprapubic catheter or will have a surgery to alter the flow of urine. This would mean closing the urethra to the penis and having a dry stoma created on the abdominal wall that I can self cath again.
Avatar n tn Then, when I look at the opening, it has what looks like grooves in the side of the opening that appear to start at the tip of my urethra and go back into the penis, paralell to my shaft. Looks like some sort of inflammatory process, but my urinalysis showed no leukocytes, which I thought were an inflammation marker. Ugh. There's gotta be some sort of cure. I also have noticed that I have cysts in some of my tubes in the groin area. Maybe I have some sort of blockage.
Avatar n tn I have had the warm sensation in the back/side of my upper right thigh for about 5 days now. It lasts for about 3/4 sec's then goes away. The first day it happened twice and now it happens frequently throughout the day (8-12 times). I do have health insurance and plan to make an appointment tomorrow. I will let you know the outcome of my visit.
186606 tn?1263513790 It also relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate. Flomax is used to improve urination in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). What is the most important information I should know about Flomax? Flomax can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. You may feel dizzy when getting up from a sitting or lying position.
Avatar n tn Uroxatral is a similar drug that may be as effective as regards voiding but has a much lower incidence of this untoward effect. Also, check out the untoward effects (side effects) of each of his medications, in particular his blood pressure meds, and see if one of these needs to be changed. Good luck! S.A. Liroff, M.D.
Avatar n tn Alpha blockers relax the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, easing the flow of urine in about 70% of men with BPH. Doxazosin and terazosin both can lower the blood pressure. The newest alpha blockers , flomax, and alfuzosin, are less likely to affect the blood pressure. Unlike the alpha blockers, finasteride actually shrink the prostate gland. Unfortunately, they take many months to work and are likely to help only men with rather large glands.
5856747 tn?1403352282 Suffers will complain that their sheep is being disturbed two or even three time during the night by the urge to go to the toilet. • Difficulty in starting urination. This is made worse if they are in a busy public toilet. Men with BPH will often seek a cubical for urinating rather than share a line of urinals where pressure may be put on them to hurry up. • Difficulty in ending urination. Finishing urination may take more time than usual and dribbling may be a feature.
Avatar m tn I saw a Urologist and he gave me flomax, but I had to stop it because I was have bad side effects from it. The flomax was before the drippy ejaculation problem started.
Avatar m tn ◦ Surgery on certain parts of the bladder ◦ Extensive pelvic surgery, especially to treat cancer of the prostate, testicles, colon or rectum ◦ Staging surgery for cancer in the pelvis or lower abdomen (this surgery removes lymph nodes in the pelvis and lower abdomen to help determine how far cancer has spread) ◦ Certain types of surgery on the discs and vertebrae of the lower spine • Nerve damage caused by medical illness — This is especially common in men with multiple sclerosis or w
Avatar m tn Have been given Flomax, but afraid to use because I already have low blood pressure and am a woman. It's not approved by the FDA for use in women. Did you have side side effects from the Flomax? And how was the stent? That scares me. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Since that time other medications were required, like Cymbalta, Flomax, and a Statin among others. Almost every med has the same side effect of either gaining or losing weight. In my case, like so many others here was gaining. In order to meet my personnel challenge of maintaining 40mg, I need to switch to either the Duragesic patch or Oxicontin. Although they are part of the narcotic family, I have bad side effects with Oxicontin and more so with the patch.
Avatar n tn Or it could be one of the STDs not normally tested for, which are Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma, and Trichomonas. Trichomonas typically does not cause symptoms in men, but it's a pretty common infection generally. Here is something I wrote up a little while ago about Ureaplasma and Mycoplasma which I will just copy/paste: ************************** There at 3 types of mycoplasma to be concerned with for STDs, these are mycoplasma hominis, mycoplasma genitalium, and ureaplasma urealyticum.
Avatar m tn My urologist prescribed Ditropan, which I took for about a year, which helped at first. Flomax was added the following year, which again worked for awhile, but the symptoms returned after 6 months or so. The Flomax caused retrograde ejaculation, which bothered me because in the past, I had always shot a fairly substantial load when I ***.
Avatar n tn My Urologist never said one word to me about the possibility of RE until my one week post op appointment, which was today.Though a change in ejaculations was listed as one of the potential side effects of the procedure in the pre-OP paperwork, it certainly not addressed in detail. Like I said, I should have done my research and asked questions. I am a gay man and ejaculations are a big part of my sex life. I too feel like I won't want to live if RE ends up being the case for me.
Avatar n tn FDA approved medications for the treatment of BPH( benign prostatic hypertrophy ) , i.e. Cardura, Hytrin, Flomax , are believed to relax smooth muscles in the prostate and theatrically could allow for retrograde ejaculation. Retrograde ejaculation is when the ejaculate goes into the bladder instead of coming out the tip of the penis.
Avatar n tn I just broke up with my ex around xmas, didn't want her sexually anymore, wasn't in love anymore either. Well, I met this new girl, I am so into her, I am nervous. The thing is I can get an erection, but the second we go to do it, I go limp. I am afraid. I don't want it to ruin this new thing. It seems like it is nerves. . . . but can viagra help with this? I am only 27. I wake up with morning erections, so my unit seems to still work. . . .I am nerved out I think.
Avatar n tn ============================================= Dear Miriam, One of the potential side effects of a prostate biopsy is the inability to urinate afterwards. This is referred to as urinary retention. It is not very common after prostate biopsy, but it does happen from time to time. As men age they tend to become prone to urinary retention due to an enlarged prostate and a less effective bladder, among others.
Avatar f tn I continued to have the severe pain that you describe due to the kidney spasms. It causes the same stabbing pain in your side and back, but up higher around the kidney. You have to be carefull with Toradol. It is not meant to be taken everyday. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn The pain will be unilateral in constant, however suddenly on a day it will shift from one side to the other side. During this time, the pain in the original side will be absent or reduce for many of them, however it will come back to its original side after few days. Have you read this book "A headache in pelvis"? Surgery should be a lost option, however it will still not work if in case it is CPPS.
Avatar n tn A doctor at a hospital in Bangkok without ever informing my father what the possible side effects of Zometa (bone pain relieving medication) could be administered it to my father. He was 74 years old. My father suffered renal failure, had to undergo dialysis and then had a ureteral stent inserted. He already underwent a replacement of the first stent. However, he has been passing a lot of blood in his urine. He will be going for blood transfusion due to him becoming anemic.
Avatar m tn Now I have pains in my side/back ever so often. I removed the stent on a Thursday 2 days later still having pain. Does this sound normal?
1415321 tn?1306973553 They pain was also moving to my side, and then my pelvic area. Then would almost explode in my mid back on the right side. After four days of taking medicine for a kidney stone I made another appointment with my primary care physician. Now my lab results had came back from the first urine test, which revealed no traces of blood. The doctor ordered another urinalysis just to confirm, but was sure that I didn’t have a kidney stone. We also completed my annual PAP to have additional information.
Avatar m tn It is not the cause of it. Stress and adrenaline are normal effects in the body, but the result of whatever caused this injury shows up now, with this as its trigger in part. Before this condition existed, it simply didn't exert change on the penis that much before, so nobody noticed it that much. I think everyone can probably relate to stress causing an erectile issue, but it is usually short-lived...not persistent. 3.
Avatar m tn I believe is important for you to do some research about your own health condition, on the drugs you are taking (drugs come with some of the side effects written on the papers that come inside the box). Also is important for you to know that there is something called holistic medicine, which uses healthier drugs and a healthier medicine. I have the same problem, but I masturbated from 20-50 or more times a day on my puberty and now on my 37 age from 2-10 times a day.
