My testosterone has been tested and was well within the normal range. Since the onset of this malady, I am unable to have sex. My libido is all but dead and erections are a distant memory. My urologist gave me samples of ED meds, but I want a permanent solution. Are there any options for me? I need to know where to go from here. I am open to medicinal suggestions as well as homeopathic options. Two years ago I had an active sex life and a very strong libido. Please help!

I have been on this medicine (together with a double dose of Flomax) for the past two years. I have noticed a definite improvement in urinary symptoms (fewer trips to the bathroom, better flow), but it has wreaked havoc with my sex life (no erections, no ejaculation). I would like to quit, but am afraid that the effects of quitting might be worse than the ones I am currently experiencing.

I was hospitalized right after my post. My calcium level was in the 3. range and my potassium level was also very low. I was running a fever so of course I was hooked up to antibiotics and calcium piggyback along with potassium. They would not release me until my calcium was 8 which took 10 days. In the meantime, a urologist saw me and ordered a bladder test to see how much urine my bladder would hold. They finally quit at 1500 ml of dye.
Needless to say, I found this to be disconcerting, and discovered (through onling research) that a decrease in semen production was a common side effect of Flomax. But, I kept on using this combination hoping things would improve with the semen. Needless to say, after approximately 3 weeks, I had the same experience, but this time followed by pain in my lower abdomen (during the end of orgasm sensations).
No do not change your medicines if Flomax works. Even if you stopped or switched to another type you could still have floppy iris syndrome. If it works keep on it and tell your eye surgeon. Special techniques and instruments and drops make FIS not the problem it use to be when we first saw it.
yes the Flomax is the cause of your retro. I've read people have permanent strength loss on Flomax too.
some people are anti Avodart since it affects the prostate hormonally and may have longterm effects. I think I may stop the Flomax after a few days on 0.8mg/day
I had a burning urination like I was releasing prostate fluid so maybe that is good? I really want to get prostate drainage, it seems that some urologists may do prostate massage.
Now one week to the day the results have returned,l am pain free but ultrasound shows a non obstructive 8mm stone in my right kidney,slight prominence of the right renal pelvics but no other features of renal tract obstruction..... My Doctor has said we wait till any further pain or discomfort and will then refer me to a Urologist. My question is would l have already passed a stone?

Thanks for writing in. Prostatitis is usually not a side effect of use of flomax, indeed it can happen due to BPH, for which flomax is used as treatment. It would be better to get prostrate examination done by a urologist and take opinion for surgery for resolving these symptoms.
Choice of antibiotics depends upon the kind of organism affecting the prostrate.

But now lately he has been passing out; I think that is unusual for any medication and I'm worried there may be something else going on. He will not go to see the doctor because he also thinks it's because of the Flomax. He checks his blood pressure constantly and it's usually within the normal range.

enlarged prostate regardless of biopsy outcome. Flomax does not seem to be making an improvement in frequency of urination--does this have an indication that cancer is more likely? In other words, if nodule were benign would the Flomax be likely to work better? Does progressive increase in frequency indicate a higher chance of cancer?
I have been using finesteride instead of flomax for the last 4 month.
i am having tachycardia, chestpain after using flomax - only second pill how long can take the side effects considering that i stopped taking flowmax 36 hours

Many years ago, I was told by another opthamologist that the right eye was actually physically perfect, and would "probably take over automatically" if something disastrous ever occurred to my left eye! Today's doctor said that unfortunately, that is not true. What am I to believe?
m interested in hearing from anybody who has had similar symptoms, or a similar course of action before getting a diagnosis. I have never really heard of tinnitis or vertigo being symptoms of MS, and those are the main reasons I even started pursuing medical help to begin with. The doctors have ruled out some explanations (like the acoustic neuroma), but there are still other possibilities on the table (Meniere's disease, or even high blood pressure for example).

Are you taking Flomax for prostate issues? Flomax works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate, which leads to improved flow of urine and fewer symptoms of BPH.
