Common Questions and Answers about Flomax how it works

flomax

Avatar m tn The Flomax was not working very well, initially and my MD switched me to Jalyn, mostly because of the CombaT Study which looked at combination regimens for BPH. The Jalyn (Flomax & Avodart) does a GREAT job and I am pretty much symptom free. My thought was that switching to Avodart alone would leave me with one less drug going into my system, keep my good results, and, hopefully reduce the IFIS risk.
Avatar m tn i m suffering from kidney stone and taking ESWL treatment. My Dr gave me the veltam 0.4/ day dose. After taking one to two dose i found, i cant ejaculate while intercourse,my Dr said that its the side effect of veltam 0.4 & will go after some days. But i m too much afraid please help me out whether it is side effect? & if so how many days it will last? and if i stop taking above drug will it b possible me to ejaculate normally?
Avatar n tn The only remarkable change has been starting on Flomax, so it would be a strange coincidence to suddenly develop a urinary infection. Can Flomax have anything to do with this? He is inclined to suspend it if only on the basis of no results, but now this new turn of events is worrying him.
Avatar f tn I'm not exactly how Flomax works, but I do notice that the urinary hesitancy i much less with it than without. Less hesitancy, more easy and complete voiding.
Avatar n tn Are you taking Flomax for prostate issues? Flomax works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate, which leads to improved flow of urine and fewer symptoms of BPH. It indeed can have side effects like you describe. https://www.healthline.com/health/enlarged-prostate/flomax-side-effects#side-effects It's a relatively low percentage of patients, less than 4% that have these types of side effects but none the less, that could be going on for you.
Avatar m tn i can get an erection but have difficulty in ejaculation. Been taking Flomax for one year. Never had problem before. How long does it take, if you quit taking flomax, to return to normal. 70 year old.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Hello, Every drug has its own side effects and Flomax (tamsulosin) is no exception. However it has been reported that treatment with FLOMAX capsules for up to 12 months had no significant effect on prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and does not effect prostate. It effect the vision and may cause blurred vision but that is found in only 0.2- 2% of the patients.
Avatar m tn i am having tachycardia, chestpain after using flomax - only second pill how long can take the side effects considering that i stopped taking flowmax 36 hours
233622 tn?1279334905 Hi LA I don't know anything about Flomax but I'm glad to hear it is going well with the Betaseron. I have been using it since August last year and have no regrets.
Avatar m tn I did not associate it with flomax until recently. Is it harmful if I stop taking the flomax and is this the cause of my retro? This discussion is related to Retrograde Ejaculation from Flomax......permanent or not?.
Avatar m tn Flomax can reduce the amouht of seman that you produce. It would be unusual though to have this production reduced down to zero unless the man was ejaculating very often. In general terms Flomax is a useful medication with very few side-effects..
Avatar m tn I hear ya... I've been on .4 Flomax since January and its hard to get off of it. It basically tells the bladder neck muscles = "ok we are going to do your job now, take a break"... so to speak.. but when you stop it seems neither the muscles or the drug obviously are doing the job and they tighten back up and I get he urine retention again... Its very frustrating because I was doing exceptionally well before trying to stop.
Avatar m tn Here I thought I was the only one.I been on FLOMAX for a couple of weeks. However,it feels like U are exploding and there's nothing.
Avatar n tn m freaked out about this procedure I see my PCP again and ask if we can try Doxycycline - she agrees and switches me to Flomax saying it works better. After about ten days of doxy and flomax I have marked improvement so 3d before the surgery I call URO and tell him of the improvement. He begrudingly agrees to cancle surgery. About 45d later I return to the URO and while I still have testicle pain my freq/urgency issues are less than half what they were on.
Avatar n tn My question is really about my father; he is 78 years old in general good health. He takes 5 mg blood pressure med and he takes Flomax daily. When he first started taking Flomax; which he needs to be able to urinate or as he says to keep his plumbing working, anyway, he would have dizzy spells. His doctor said this was normal, a side effect of Flomax. But now lately he has been passing out; I think that is unusual for any medication and I'm worried there may be something else going on.
Avatar m tn t seem to be a great drug since it lowers blood pressure too much, I almost fainted on losartan and flomax. Is it true it permenently exhausts you and causes muscle weakness?
Avatar m tn light headness after cataract surgery and Dr was told about Flomax of which I am still on 2 years later
Avatar m tn My question is why the amount of ejaculate that I have is so small, and how do I fix that? When I ejaculate, it is only a few drops, maybe only a third of a teaspoon. Everything else feels the same and functions the same, but the amount is very small. I used to be able to fill up a tabespoon almost. Is there something out there (that is not a scam!) that can actually increase your volume?
Avatar n tn I was then sent to urologist who said postatitis, gave me flomax and said to alter diet to avoid acidic drinks/foods. After 6 weeks of flomax and eating a bland diet there was still no improvement. Went to another urologist who said prostatitis, gave me flomax and new antibiotics and prescribed 600mg ibuprofen 3 x day.
Avatar n tn cant pee--gave me flowmax--how long befor this works----took first pill 9 pm monday night--hurts so bad and burns trying but nothing--a couple drips
Avatar m tn m not familiar with the Proscar, but have been on Flomax from 1994 till 2008. At first it was believed that problems with urination were due to an obstruction at the bladderneck. In 1995 at the age of 30, I had a T'URP and resection of the bladderneck. Later after a urodynamics test, I was found to have a neurogenic bladder. The Flomax worked for me to enable me to urinate during the day. I also used self catheterization to ensure that my bladder was empty.
Avatar n tn 1 mm and was removed on 8/25/08 by surgery..using a scope and basket the dr was able to reach it and pull it out...the stone was above the beginning of the bladder....since surgery, I cannot go to the bathroom on my own and have been on a catheter......I started taking flomax this past Monday....on Thursday, the catheter was removed; I went home and soaked in a bath to get my muscles to relax...
Avatar n tn and/or had surgery to make it useful. He said therefore, because of possible complications related to Flomax, Now, I would be risking my entire vision, not just vision in the one good eye! Many years ago, I was told by another opthamologist that the right eye was actually physically perfect, and would "probably take over automatically" if something disastrous ever occurred to my left eye! Today's doctor said that unfortunately, that is not true. What am I to believe?
