Common Questions and Answers about Flomax and eye problems

flomax

Avatar n tn The reason he was reluctant is that I have not usable vision in my right eye due to undiagnosed problems in childhood. Today the eye would have been patched in childhood, etc. and/or had surgery to make it useful. He said therefore, because of possible complications related to Flomax, Now, I would be risking my entire vision, not just vision in the one good eye!
Avatar m tn Even if you stopped or switched to another type you could still have floppy iris syndrome. If it works keep on it and tell your eye surgeon. Special techniques and instruments and drops make FIS not the problem it use to be when we first saw it.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I was given cipro and Flomax for pelvic pain and a UTI. the pain was through the whole pelvis and also individual veins or spermatic cord. does Flomax permanently shrink your prostate or reduce testosterone levels? I read one forum where people where saying they had a permanent loss of strength, could not throw the discus as far?
Avatar m tn I'm 68 years old and have had Cataracts for over 2 years. I've been taking Avodart for over a year. Should I stop taking Avodart and wait awhile before cataract surgery or will the informed Dr be able to work with my eyes? I've never taken Flomax and have heard the warnings from the commercial and read about Flomax. I'm concerned about any complications. I'm also pretty active. Can I still swim after surgery and what are the chances of the lens shifting or coming loose?
Avatar m tn He told me that he had discussed the problem he had had with my eye with a colleague( when I mentioned the Flomax thing to him) and his friend had said that he was sure that I was on Flomax. He said that he had heard about it before but, to quote him, ``He always Poo Poohed the idea`` Anyway, let`s hope things go well with the next procedure now that he knows what to expect.
Avatar n tn I have been on a cather off and on for about 3 to 4 weeks now also I have been on flomax for a week. I have problems urinateing on my own sense surgery. I go to my urologist he takes out cather try to urinate but can't. My question is am I to anxious?
Avatar f tn I'm a 50-year old male, who was diagnosed with MS in 2000. I've had two major flare-ups (exacerbations), primarily related to balance, spasticity, optic neuritis, and lack of sensation from the waist down. I've not had any lasting nerve damage, other than slightly off-kilter balance, occasional optic disturbances in my left eye, and dampened sensations from my knees to my feet. I'm still ambulatory and work 40 hours a week.
Avatar m tn As I am researching the causes of the problem and trying to find out why the first surgery failed, I came across some medical studies and articles about a connection between use of Flowmax (tamsulosin) for BPH, and problems associated with eye surgeries. This is a big concern for me and it never came up in any discussion with the either eye surgeons. I quit using the medication due to other undesireable effects (nearly fainting) so it was not listed on my current medications list.
Avatar n tn s from the Flomax my husband takes and that it will take longer for his vision to clear.(the Dr. was aware of the flomax before surg.) What has been your experience with this troublesome outcome? My husband is very discouraged.
Avatar m tn I have been using finesteride instead of flomax for the last 4 month.
Avatar m tn I would concentrate on finding the best cataract surgeon on your plan and make sure he or she has done dozens and dozens of Flomax cases and is very comortable with the management. Dr. David Chang in Los Altos, CA has written extensively on the best techniques to manage such cases.
Avatar n tn Are you taking Flomax for prostate issues? Flomax works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate, which leads to improved flow of urine and fewer symptoms of BPH. It indeed can have side effects like you describe. https://www.healthline.com/health/enlarged-prostate/flomax-side-effects#side-effects It's a relatively low percentage of patients, less than 4% that have these types of side effects but none the less, that could be going on for you.
Avatar m tn I did not associate it with flomax until recently. Is it harmful if I stop taking the flomax and is this the cause of my retro? This discussion is related to Retrograde Ejaculation from Flomax......permanent or not?.
Avatar f tn Postpone surgery on the right eye until the first eye heals and you are happy and the eye is "out of the woods". Find out exactly what the complications were and what the implications are. This type of surgery usually only takes 15 minutes. Did he have "floppy iris syndrome" due to flomax? Did he have vitreous loss? Did the capsule break. Get all the details.
Avatar n tn Do you mean Fosamax (alendronate)? If you do, its for treating bone problems like Osteoperosis by adding bone mass and slows bone loss. I use it for Osteopenia.
Avatar m tn So far I have taken Cipro (two rounds; 10 days and 21 days), Bactrim (14 days), and Flomax throughout all without much benefit. I am supposed to have a semen culture done in a week to see exactly what the bacteria is. My question is if anyone has had a bad case of prostatitis and urithritis and what the outcome was? Thank you for your help.
Avatar n tn I had the same problem with Flomax and Rapaflo.and not being able to *** was not acceptable. Also surgery such as TURP willl do the same thing.
Avatar m tn I have been on several courses of antibiotics including Cipro, Bactrin and currently doxycyline, with now real improvement. I had TURP on 9/14 for enlarged protsate that was blocking urine flow but the inflammation is still there - my urologist said this is very uncommmon to happen. I started Lyrica (50 mg 3x daily) this week to try and alleviate the pain - that can take a week or more to work (if it helps). I am also planning to try accupuncture next week to see if that helps.
Avatar f tn He can either go through the cataract surgery now (despite the slight increased risk from the flomax) and not need the LPI or have LPI done now (very low risk procedure) and wait till whenever he wants to have cataract surgery. Just because his pressures are normal now doesn't mean he won't have a glaucoma attack which could be devastating for vision. I would not ignore this even in the short run.
Avatar n tn The urologist told me that the flomax causes retrograde ejaculation, but this was in the morning after my flomax has usually worn off (this was at a time of day when I have masturbated and ejaculated before, but no more than a little dribble oozed out. Usually when the flomax is in effect, absolutely nothing comes out).
Avatar m tn Well the Prostatitis recurred and coens and goes… I heard about the belt… reluctant to do the flomax hence the side effects…. It really does sucks….
