But I do not understand the different between HIV-1 RNA by PCR Testing (Viral Load Test/Quantitative) and HIV RNA Test (Qualitative). My lab results say that I had the HIV-1 RNA Qualitative test, but the STDalert website just refers to it as the PCR/RNA, so I'm not sure which test I actually had done.
Here are my questions:

1) The RNA and DNA direct tests were not designed for the purpose of early HIV diagnosis. They are commonly used that way, but there has been little research on test performance in this setting. The result at 10+ days after exposure generally believed to be at least 90-95% reliable. Most likely it's even better, approaching 100% -- but without more research data, it is hard to be certain.
I still suffer from excruciating cramp in my feet. Over the last 2 years I have built up the muscles in my feet and have increased flexibility with daily stretches and exercises but still suffer from painful cramp in my arches and toes. It seems to occur when my toes are pointed for long periods of time as I tend to tense my feet quite hard.

I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot.
I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.
Most likely your test is qualitative and the number 0.2 is not related to the quantity of HBsAg in your blood.
I think almost any viral assay would be appropriate at 1 year post treatment. There is nothing wrong with the bDNA >615 test; my hepatologist is part of a research/transplant center and supposedly practices cutting-edge medicine, and uses it frequently. The bDNA assay is very specific for HCV; I'd personally be very satisfied with this application. I’d think that if relapse occurred, the virus would have reestablished itself in a robust manner by now.

I spoke to the testing companies and have been doing a bit of my own research. DNA (qualitative) PCR cannot be used to diagnose HIV, yet neither can an antibody test since both need to go to the western blot if they come back positive. Yet you can use the qualitative to rule out hiv infection. Note:* if there is no HIV in ur blood at 29 days for example, HIV cannot just create itself out of nothing. make sense?

Unfortunately, without journal access through a university/medical library, the full text costs $$, but google scholar caught this glimpse from it:

so it does link CFS, EDS, OI, and fibromyalgia (and is by Rowe).
I agree with your statement that the Quantitative PCR in this case is more sensitive than the Qualitative test. I believe it was the reverse prior to the recent improvements in the quantitative assays.

Hi doc, Currently i have swollen lymph nodes in neck and arm pits, mouth burning like anything all the time, apthous mouth ulcers inside cheeks, lymphadenitis, pain in b/l arm pits and in the scapular region, pectoral region.......no other symptoms............such as fever, headache, diarrhea, skin rash..........
My HSV 1 Ig G levels on 11/28/12 are 3.76...............and Hiv icma NEGATIVE;
ON 12/07/12 HIV RNA qualitative negative...........
On 02/15/13 HSv 1 IG g levels are 3.
RT PCR RNA test is not a diagnostic test it is approved to be a supplemental test along with an antibody test for the detection of HIV.
My 80 year old mother had TKR surgery last week. She says when she stands or sits for any length of time, her foot hurts and she must lay down to relieve the pain. The doctor said this is typical because of blood rushing to the foot and recommended putting the support sock on.
Has anyone else experienced this? Everyone is impressed with her flexibility and she's doing her exercises regularly but this pain has really gotten her concerned and regrets getting the surgery.
