Common Questions and Answers about Flexibility in knee

flexibility

Avatar m tn I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot. I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.
Avatar m tn I had surgery over 10 months ago for a lateral meniscus tear in my knee. This is the second surgery I have had on this same knee. The previous surgery I had a medial meniscus tear about 5 years ago. I am very active and cycle about 5 hours a week and about 5 hours a week of more weight bearing exercise. I have not been able to regain full flexibility to the knee, I am lacking 10 degrees of motion. I ice my knee most every day after exercising.

Avatar n tn Stretching the front and back or your leg to increase the flexibility in your knee. Perform stretching exercises at the end of your workout when your muscles are warm. Stretch the front of your leg in a standing position by bending your knee and raising your foot up toward your backside. Grasp the ankle with your hand to enhance the stretch. Stretch the back of your legs in a seated position with your legs extended on the floor. Fold forward over your straight legs to stretch your hamstrings.
Avatar f tn Slowly raise one of your legs at your hip while keeping your knee straight. Raise your leg as high as you comfortably can. You should feel a stretch in the back of your upper leg. Hold this position for a count of 10 seconds. Relax and repeat 10 times. Repeat this exercise another 10 times using your opposite leg. Hamstring stretch can help maintain flexibility in your hamstrings as well as reduce any pain that may occur as the result of high hamstring tendinopathy.
Avatar m tn I believe it is in part due to patellar mistracking. I have been working on flexibility in my hamstrings and quads, as well as strengthening my VMO, since it is weaker than the outer quad muscles. I have been doing wall sits to strengthen my VMO, since squats are too painful and leg extensions agrivate the condition. However, these excersizes seem to do little to help with the pain, even though I have been doing them for at least 6 months now.
Avatar m tn Having had a partial knee replacement 6 weeks ago I can say that the movement and flexibility of the knee is very good. I have adhered to the post op exercise regime and I am free from sticks and supports. However I do suffer pain on the inside of my knee whilst walking which may or may not be soft tissue and/or MCL damage or scarring. I suppose I need to give it time although do get a bit disheartened at times as I would not have expected such pain at this stage.
Avatar n tn i had the same surgery as melhal and im a 42 yr old female, however, i cannot bend my knee when i walk or go down the stairs because something on the side of my knee pops and it hurts so much and i limp and still have swelling in front and back of my knee.
Avatar f tn I am 26 and have had knee pain for 2 years. I have been living in Asia and have had a difficult time finding a doctor that a) speaks English and b) is helpful in diagnosing the problem. Most doctors have said they are not sure what the problem is and that I should just rest and take pain medication. After 2 years of doing this I am becoming really frustrated.
Avatar m tn It is now 5 weeks since i had a total knee replacement in my right leg, although i am getting reasonable flexibility about 110 degrees, and have just started walking tentatively without crutches i am still experiencing considerable pain but am grinding my teeth and sticking to my physio, my main concern is about a week ago i developed a click or clunk in the replaced joint at first it was intermittent but it is now every step, it is not a audible click/clunk more of the same feeling you get when
Avatar m tn ve been diligent with my physical therapy and I have full flexibility in the leg. I can bend the leg at the knee and I can fully extend it. I can put weight on the leg and the doctor no longer requires me to wear the surgical boot. I still need to use a cane or crutches to get around. How long does it take for the tibia fracture to fully heal, and is there anything I can do to quicken the healing process on my own other than exercises and physical therapy? Thank you.

Avatar n tn NSAID’s, cross-training activities, such as swimming, can allow an athlete to maintain their fitness while resting the knee. The next step in treatment is a physical therapy program that should emphasize strengthening and flexibility of the quadriceps and hamstring muscle groups. Consult a orthopaedician for confirmation of diagnosis and advise on treatment. Best.

Avatar m tn I still suffer from excruciating cramp in my feet. Over the last 2 years I have built up the muscles in my feet and have increased flexibility with daily stretches and exercises but still suffer from painful cramp in my arches and toes. It seems to occur when my toes are pointed for long periods of time as I tend to tense my feet quite hard.
Avatar f tn 4 weeks later, I developed a low grade fever and sudden onset severe pain in my knee joint and muscle aches in legs. It was quite severe and though i managed to walk about, was unable to stand for long. There were also pains in smaller joints of my toes and fingers. On movement there were clicking sounds, but no pain in shoulder and wrist joints. I also had pain in the skin of my soles and fingers, a left side tinnitus and weakness in the muscles of my left hand.
Avatar n tn In this time, cross-training activities, such as swimming, can allow an athlete to maintain their fitness while resting the knee. The next step in treatment is a physical therapy program that should emphasize strengthening and flexibility of the quadriceps and hamstring muscle groups. Majority patient’s recover without surgery. In case conservative treatment fails, then procedures like lateral release can be performed. Also there is need for activity modification after surgery.

Avatar f tn dietary changes, any new or increase medications, weight gain/loss, changes to a lower activity level eg sitting more than you use too and effecting circulation, flexibility, muscle strength, spasticity etc, I also think of things like where exactly the pain is eg knee, upper leg lower leg, hip, etc, if its the whole limb or an isolated muscle thigh, calf etc What type of pain do you feel eg ache, tight, burning, bee sting, spreading, sharp etc and If there is a pattern to the pain eg all the
562634 tn?1216180532 My left leg feels weak and consequently, I also have weakness in my right leg I have no strength in my left arm and I cannot grip with my left hand. The fingers on my left hand are curling in a sort of claw shape and there’s little flexibility, or grip. Also my left arm pulsates and twitches and my right arm has started doing that also. Recently my upper legs, just above the knee, are twitching as well and I have also felt twitches on my buttocks and shoulders.
