689528 tn?1364135841 Like everything else in life too much of the flaxseed will be a bad idea, especially during pregnancy. Take caution on the intake of flaxseed and your pregnancy will not endure any complications. Flaxseed will actually be more beneficial to your pregnancy than harmful. The reason being is because flaxseed is a major source of omega 3 fatty acids, which is highly recommended during pregnancy and breast feeding. Omega 3 fatty acids will enhance the baby's brain development.
Avatar f tn I heard flaxseed is not recommended during pregnancy... take mirilax. A cap full in any type of drink. It softens your stool so it's not a laxative bit it helps!
1129232 tn?1360800358 Does anyone know if it's safe to take vitamin C and vitamin E and flaxseed oil when pregnant? I have not even confirmed my pregnancy yet but i take these supplements every day along with my prenatal and i just noticed today that it says consult your physician if pregnant...
550622 tn?1247656720 The redness usually goes away, but the dry eye might stay around awhile. I take flaxseed oil everyday which helps as well as staying well hydrated- but eye drops are a way of life. It does get better, my eyes function almost normally but wearing contacts is very hard and my eyes are usually more dry the next day and flying doesn't help matters, so I use more drops during flights.
Avatar f tn pregnancy-induced hypertension (pre-eclampsia) and gestational diabetes. Both of these conditions can be treated either by lowering insulin levels (gestational diabetes) or by decreasing the levels of “bad” eicosanoids (pre-eclampsia). To accomplish the first goal, pregnant women need to consume an optimal ratio of carbohydrates to protein. To accomplish the second, they need to take ultra – refined EPA / DHA fish oil concentrate supplements.
Avatar m tn Loaded with alpha-linolenic acid, an essential fatty acid that helps reduce inflammation, flaxseed has been used for centuries for medicinal and health reasons. Gandhi proclaimed, "Wherever flaxseed becomes a regular food item among the people, there will be better health." The seed itself has terrific nutritional value, very usable protein, tremendous fatty acids, and minerals like magnesium, potassium, and zinc. Additionally, they're a great source of fiber.
Avatar f tn I added 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed to my diet for the past year. I was very discouraged when I received the results of my lipid panel results. Last year: total chol.=238, trig.=59, HDL=101, LDL=125. This year: total chol.=240, trig.=67, HDL=98, LDL=128. My bad numbers went up and my good number (HDL) went down. Why? (I am a 60 year old female. I exercise regularly (jog and ballet), I am 5'2" and weigh 92 pounds.
Avatar n tn When my wife was preparing for an operation, her lab work showed her liver counts to be very high, near 200. The Dr. said, many things eaten could raise these levels. They wanted to know if she had eaten cereal with flaxseed and said flaxseed could have a large effect. I mention this so you'll know if it happens to you.
7584600 tn?1392261434 I HAVE read so many conflicting things..Is flaxseed oil bad for the liver or not!
408496 tn?1269603350 I have heard that RLS is common in pregnancy and that if you have it pregnancy , that you are more than likely to have it as you age. My mom had this too. Anyone else experience this? What did you do/are you doing for the pain? I will not take any medicine for it, just wanting tips such as heating pad and such. Thanks!
974298 tn?1324833193 um I am not sure about the flaxseed... I have no info on it!!! but it won't hurt just to try it for one cycle and see how you do!!!
20922415 tn?1661860103 During the reproductive years, the pituitary gland in the brain generates hormones (follicle-stimulating hormone [FSH] and luteinizing hormone [LH]) that cause a new egg to mature and be released from its ovarian follicle each month. As the follicle develops, it produces the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone, which thicken the lining of the uterus called the endometrium.
Avatar f tn Don't know if this is true, but I've read that flaxseed can promote normal ovulation and extend the second progesterone-dormant half of your cycle, and consistent ovulation means a better chance of getting pregnant :) ...... I suppose it's something fun to look into!
Avatar f tn Is the "flaxseed meal" you speak of come already ground up? I have read that flaxseed does no good unless it's ground up.
Avatar n tn I buy the liquid gels and also grind whole flaxseed and mix it into a healthy smoothie drink. (Obviously, the flaxseed is to be taken orally--never directly to the eye!
Avatar f tn I asked my doctor (RE) about taking 81 mg of baby aspirin to encourage blood flow to the uterus but she said the effects are not proven and therefore she does not use it in her practice. I'd still like to try it, however..particularly because my menses was especially "clotty" this month (sorry tmi!). But I also take flaxseed oil and I want to make sure that taking both of these won't be an issue. I'm on my 4th round of clomid 100 mgs, days 3-7 with progesterone supps.
Avatar f tn I take one to fight babybrain. Omegas are stripped from myelin shealths during pregnancy and since they act as lubricant in the conduction of, essentially thoughts, our thought process is slowed. I didn't ask my doc about it yet but it does clear up fog in my brain.
Avatar f tn Does anybody take flaxseed oil.I've read a few articles on how its supposed to help sufferers of panic attacks.
Avatar f tn ve been finding that the fish oil and other things in the over the counter supplements may be bad during pregnancy. The pharmacist told me to stop taking them and check with my Dr but my Dr told me to take them. Just wondering if anyone else is taking extra Omega 3 Fatty acids, and if so, what kind?
1670226 tn?1334252274 I have had chronic dry eye problems ever since I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and Hashi's way back in 1996. After a lot of trial and error, I found that supplementing with Omega-3's (fish oil or flaxseed oil) keeps it in check. Also, during a severe attack, my optometrist recommended some OTC eye drops called "Systane." He instructed me to use the Systane at least 3 times a day for about a week, and then as needed. (They're cheap - about $9 at Walmart.
