Flaxseed meal and pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Flaxseed meal and pregnancy

flax-seed

Avatar f tn Try flaxseed meal. There is a brand called Bob's Red Mill that is already ground. If you live in an area that has a Trader Joe's store, that's a great place to get it. They sell the product cheaper than anyone else I know of. Other places will have it, too. I have seen it at grocery store chains in my own area. You can also find it at natural food stores or co-ops. I would try Trader Joes first, though. The beauty of flaxseed meal is that it is an actual food fiber.
Avatar n tn When my wife was preparing for an operation, her lab work showed her liver counts to be very high, near 200. The Dr. said, many things eaten could raise these levels. They wanted to know if she had eaten cereal with flaxseed and said flaxseed could have a large effect. I mention this so you'll know if it happens to you.
1129232 tn?1360800358 Does anyone know if it's safe to take vitamin C and vitamin E and flaxseed oil when pregnant? I have not even confirmed my pregnancy yet but i take these supplements every day along with my prenatal and i just noticed today that it says consult your physician if pregnant...
Avatar n tn I buy the liquid gels and also grind whole flaxseed and mix it into a healthy smoothie drink. (Obviously, the flaxseed is to be taken orally--never directly to the eye!
Avatar f tn A couple of members have mentioned using activated charcoal for the really bad gas. Most gastro doctors tell people to use psyllium fiber, like Metamucil. I have had to use other fibers, like flaxseed meal. It's true that you need to build up slowly how much fiber you use, especially when your system is obviously sensitive already. Like sparkle40, I can't use the wheat bran either. My gastro doctor mentioned Metamucil and the like to me.
Avatar f tn I haven’t needed to use breast pads for a couple of months, but after this batch, my friends call me ‘Wet Patches’. I doubled the flaxseed meal, added cocoa and hazelnut meal – they taste like Nutella.” — Audax Method Preparation time is around 15 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180C. 1) Mix together 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes. 2) Cream (beat well) margarine and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well.
Avatar f tn I do alright using flaxseed meal rather than the psyllium based fibers that you mentioned. I can use just a little in water, like the fiber drinks, or just sprinkle a little on my food. It's an actual food product and it has nutritional benefits, like omega 3. I buy the Bob's Red Mill that is available at Trader Joe's, because it's more affordable. It's already ground flaxseed meal. I haven't heard of the Heather's Tummy Fibers, so I'll have to look for that.
689528 tn?1364135841 Like everything else in life too much of the flaxseed will be a bad idea, especially during pregnancy. Take caution on the intake of flaxseed and your pregnancy will not endure any complications. Flaxseed will actually be more beneficial to your pregnancy than harmful. The reason being is because flaxseed is a major source of omega 3 fatty acids, which is highly recommended during pregnancy and breast feeding. Omega 3 fatty acids will enhance the baby's brain development.
Avatar f tn I can relate to some of this, because I have the same kind of IBS that you do. I don't know if I have FMS (I have the symptoms to indicate the strong possibility), but I do have CFS and MCS, so I can relate. We have a special problem, since we have many food sensitivities and allergies. I am sure you are already aware of the gluten intolerance and lactose intolerance issues, since they go with the territory. I was hospitalized with renal failure not too long ago myself.
Avatar m tn There is a gentler fiber that I have found to be less irritating to the gut. This is flaxseed meal. I read of a woman who said that she used it much like one uses Metamucil and drinks it down first thing in the morning and last thing at night and has done so for years. Taking psyllium fiber (the main ingredient in Metamucil) wasn't helpful for her bowel troubles, but the flaxseed meal was. I find it helpful for me, too, but I simply add it directly to whatever I'm eating.
Avatar m tn t really experienced any blood or mucous, though, since I stopped eating gluten and lactose and have been using flaxseed meal for my fiber. My naturopath was the one who told me to use the flaxseed meal and that psyllium fiber is simply too irritating for the gut. What a difference! She was right.
Avatar f tn I am 30 weeks, first bub, and I am one hungry hungry hippo! I feel like I finish one meal bit then half hour later im getting grumbly tummy hunger pains again! Is this normal?
16702 tn?1234090645 morning and evening meals consist of Soy shakes with carnation instant breakfast, whey protein, and flaxseed. afternoon meal is soy yogurt one day, and hardy organic puree homemade soups.
974298 tn?1324833193 I used to take flaxseed everyday earlier as i had read it helps to improve frtility but then my new RE asked me to stop with the flaxseed after looking at my test results becos he said flaxseed can cause estrogen dominance and hinder ovulation... Good idea would be to check wth a nutrionist or a dr i guess!
Avatar m tn Okay, I can't comment on the prostatitis very well, since I'm female. But, I can certainly appreciate the IBS problems you're talking about. The colonoscopy is the best test I know about for testing for cancerous polyps, so I'm sure you're on the right track with the test. You're probably going to be very hungry when you're finished with the test(s).
Avatar n tn ve been giving her a pinch of flaxseed meal in her food each day, as the omega fatty acids found in flax oil i supposed to help w/inflammation. I think maybe it also helped when I vacuumed the sheep wool rug she was sleeping on in the winter & cleaned up a lot of the dust in the area where she sleeps.
Avatar n tn Coffee helps me go, sometimes orange juice too.
Avatar m tn Hello all, For the past week and a half, I have been having sticky/pasty bowel movements along with bouts of slight constipation, or maybe better worded, incomplete bowel movements. I have always had healthy bowel movements: once daily in the morning within 30 minutes of waking. I have a healthy diet in my opinion. I eat tons of fresh fruits and vegetables and drink truck-loads of water. I get plenty of exercise.
Avatar f tn I used flax seed meal for helping me keep my weight up, putting it into smoothies, oatmeal, etc. It makes wonderful cornbread. Check out this post: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn You might try natural sources of omega fatty acids for mood, like freshwater fish, such as salmon and tuna, walnuts and macadamia nuts, pumpkin seeds, and flaxseed. You might try flaxseed or if you aren't troubled by the fishy aftertaste, enteric coated fish oil capsules. Sam-E by naturemade is a helpful mood booster. Those hormonal changes can make it easy to put on the pounds.
Avatar f tn My naturopath has me using Oregon Grape and Cascara Sagrada. I use the Oregon Grape with each meal according to the directions on the label. I use one cascara sagrada at night to prevent constipation, so I don't have to take so much MiraLax because I feel the same way about pharmaceuticals as you do. Another good thing to do is take dietary fiber everyday. I have been using flaxseed meal and inulin fiber for dietary fiber, since I'm intolerant to psyllium fiber, such as Metamucil.
Avatar f tn The best way to relieve constipation in pregnancy is milk of magnesia. It is a life savor.
