flax-seed

Avatar n tn sorry to ask...it may sound dumb, but does it matter if it's hyper or hypo to avoid iodine?
Avatar f tn I have tried different brands of fish oil on different occassions as well as my husband. I wished I could take it for the health benefits; but, in our case, it causes digestive upset such as bloating and gas. So, I've replaced fish oil with flax seed oil and we do not experience the gas and bloating we had with fish oil. In my case, I feel much better on flax seed oil, emotionally as well as physically.
Avatar n tn the brand he takes is Health from the Sea PFO pure fish oil liquid. He takes twice the dose of the flax seed oil (same brand name).

I feel like it helped a lot with cm and af was much lighter and only lasted 5 days where as ever since my mc it was taking 7 days for her to leave... I didn't take the fish oil or flax seed after o.
475555 tn?1469304339 s best source of omega-3 fatty acids, especially ALA, better than fish oil and better than flax seed oil. Could be true...

612551 tn?1450022175 Hi Jerry. There are some benefits of flaxseed, as the oils are similar to fish oils but without the smell. However, there is a higher ratio of omega-6 to omega-3, which isn't too good. It's a complicated process, but effectively dogs find it hard to convert alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) to the more active non-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids, so although some omega-6 is okay (in fact, some say it's essential), it's the ratio between omega-3 and omega-6 that's important.
Avatar n tn Take fish oil or flax seed oil for the omega-3 fatty acids that will lower triglyceride levels and improve liver function. Take milk thistle or dandelion that support liver health and help detoxify the body. Take vitamin B-12 and Coenzyme Q10 to help rebuild liver cells.
518994 tn?1212242047 The highest, most concentrated source of Omega 3 fatty acids are marine lipids (from fish) or Krill, and Flax Seed oil for dogs (cats are obligate carnivores and cannot metabolize flax seed oil as well as marine sources). Olive oil is a good source but not as concentrated. A Fox Terrier would require 500mg Omega-3 Fatty acids daily, preferably in divided doses. The Omega-3 fatty acid product can be manufactured for humans or pets. As Dr.
1035252 tn?1427227833 Do be aware, there are some VERY mixed results from studies of Fish Oil for arrhythmia and heart rate stabilization (and Flax Seed oil is similar in some ways to Fish Oil) -- some studies showed a correlation between higher amounts of Fatty Fish and lower death rate from V-Fib BUT other studies showed a HIGHER rate of death for those patients with arrhythmia and tachycardias taking Fish Oil than the control group who were not taking it. That's one of the problems with these studies...
Avatar m tn You might also not be eating enough sources of HDL, but you can just increase your fish oil or krill oil or hemp seed oil or flax seed oil -- there are other sources of omega 3 oils, though only fish that eat seaweed have a good level of DHA.
Avatar n tn There could be many causes. My father went prematurely bald, but had a matrix of other symptoms that led to a diagnosis of hypothyroisism.
6579347 tn?1388502368 Hi, Paxiled! I've been in PT for 4 weeks now, and haven't seen any improvement. She gave me a steroid shot last Friday - my neck is better, but my low back is still killing me. I left a post on the back/neck forum for advice on that. It was just curious to me that after I started the green tea extract, my mitral valve prolapse started palpitating and my anxiety surfaced a bit. You gave me a lot of good ideas - thank you!
163322 tn?1458676408 Actually, I don't use flax seed oil. I use flax seed meal, mixing it into granola, oatmeal, smoothies, etc. Its great for making corn bread. But I'm not on triple therapy either. And I love coconut anything!
Avatar n tn i just started treatment with telaprevir, and have used flax seed oil for the fat on one dose and will use it again. the problem with flax seed oil is it goes rancid really fast. so if you are going to use it make sure you buy from a very reliable source that refrigerates the oil and check the date. yesterday i bought an 8 ounce bottle of barlean's flax oil that was pressed on 9/15/10 with an expiration of 3/15/11. so make sure it is supper fresh. rancid oil will cause liver damage.
Avatar f tn What is true is that the Omega 3 in flax seed oil is different from that in fish oil, and flax seed oil contains more than just omega 3 oils, whereas most fish oil is artificially purified to eliminate many other beneficial oils that would also be a fish. Since you can get cold processed organically grown flax, whereas fish are contaminated pretty much everywhere now, and for vegetarians, flax is a good source of oil, but for a diabetic, fish oil probably would be a good choice.
574118 tn?1305135284 Do you know if eating flax seeds is like using the oil?? its oil is spoiled easily but eating the seed itself over some salad is safer BUT DOES IT HAVE THE SAME EFFECT???
