Avatar f tn 3- Two days ago I noticed ridges on 2 fingernails while the rest of nails have vertical lines without ridges. Treatment: 1-I went to ENT after my 6 weeks symptoms and he gave me gargle which did not work. 2-After 52 days of last exposure I went to another ENT specialistand I told him about my sexual exposure so he requested Sypillis and anti Hiv tests besides throat swap culture. 3- Throat swap culture shows normal streptococcus bacteria and ENT told me the result is fine.
Avatar f tn Hi, about 7 months ago I had unprotected once, which I ejaculated in the person. About 3 weeks later I got an cold sore on my mouth but I’ve been getting cold sores all my life so I didn’t think anything of it. Then about 2 weeks later I started to google symptoms of HIV & I started to get them. The symptoms were, 1. Night sweats 2. Mild Sore throat/ fever 3. Muscle aches 4. Diarrhea 5. Rash’s. But I never got flu like symptoms.
Avatar m tn I have vertical ridges on my thumbs as well and peeling fingernails and the peeling fingernails is due to being hypothyroid. So you might want to check your TSH level as well. Have you felt tired? The high blood pressure can change with going down on meat, and dairy products, no oil or fried foods and exercising more. If you are type 2 diabetic there is a diet that will reverse both of these but it is vegan and oil and fat free and takes a lot of work to get used to.
Avatar n tn I just noticed this randomly and it only appears on my index, middle, and ring fingers. Could this be caused by typing? They are the fingers I use the most. I don't type "properly" because that slows me down lol. You can see what I'm talking about here: http://i.imgur.com/bR30JXP.jpg It's very faint in the image but there's 2-4 vertical lines on each of the fingers.
Avatar f tn I developed horizontal lines or indentations in 2 fingernails. No injury. My Dr called them Beaus lines. He says I was either exposed to a toxin of some sort or they can be a result of a systemic disease. He seemed very unconcerned. In my reading betablockers pop up as a possible cause. My question is if the betablocker caused them does that mean it is harming me? I went to my pharmacy and he said only if your heartrates slow.
Avatar m tn So for a while now I have had thin red lines near the tips of my fingernails under the nail accompanied by a little lack of color beneath the lines. This is most prominent in my thumbs. The color in my fingernails seems to be slightly darker than normal and maybe a little purple tinged. When I extend my fingers, the color leaves the front half of them. I have no idea what this is and my doctor didn't seem to know either.
Avatar f tn After contact, I am now getting the brown lines in (not under) my fingernails without injury. Also peeling between the fingers. Here is a link to an image: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16PgksStMQG3eLL4Vu4DvgSl20sI_wPpr/view?

Avatar f tn I have done some research myself and curiously one day typed into google an odd symptom I had; vertical lines on my fingertips. The only explanation for this was Adrenal Fatigue. I read that another symptom of this was elevated heart rate and high blood pressure which I do have. I am only 18 years old, I am not under any major stress, do not feel overly tired, I maintain my weight (all the OPPOSITE symptoms of adrenal fatigue) I am very happy with life and laugh a lot every day!
Avatar n tn There are many reasons. Examination of the fingernails, for example, may reveal lung problems. COPD patients im advanced stages often have fingernails that curve downward. He also wants to examine the nailbeds to determine if you have good circulation. This isn't done much nowadays, but examination of the nailbeds used to be square one. He is also looking for tremor, of course, or palsy. He is also making a determination regarding your grooming.
Avatar m tn It has two areas on it, one for the control and another circle for the result, its suposed to be a vertical line (well 2 vertical lines) the controlline in vertical, but the line in the other window is horizontal...?? could this be a positive or just a streak? its blue and its not a evap line, it showed up less that three minutes after I took it. Anyone have this happen before???
Avatar f tn I had cataract surgery on my left eye last year. I have vertical lines going through all the lights I see. When I meet other traffic at night, it basically blinds me with all the lines. I usually close my eye and continue driving with the right eye only. From reading some of the other posts it sounds like I need to go back to the Dr. that did the surgery. I hadn't been doing enough night driving to realize how bad it was till lately. Go back to the eye Doc?
Avatar n tn I am a professional guitar player with growing concerns over the health of my fingernails. Over the past 5 years, I have practiced guitar daily on average of 3-4 hrs a day, with 1 hr a day minimum on "off" days. Since the start, I've noticed that the nail bed (and subsequently the overall length of the nail) of my ring finger on the left (guitar fretting) hand has gradually shortened.
Avatar f tn most tests like this show a horizontal line in result no matter what and horizontal and vertical (a plus sign) lines in result window for positive. Of course, every test is different...
Avatar n tn I have vertical white lines on my teeth. I am only 16. I have had it happening on and off for about a year. I do not think they are crazy lines, they don't hurt. Also, they go away later in the day. It only happens in the morning. Why am I getting these lines?. I use Crest Cinnamon Whitening Expressions.
Avatar f tn I have these white lines on my fingernails that run parallel to the cuticle. They have areas in the white line that are heavier and make the line look like a spot. They cover the nail in it's entirety. I have taken zinc for year now with no real change. I am concerned about taking too much zinc since it was removed from some dental products. My hypoyroidism is controlled with medication. I do not suffer trauma to my hands. I am 55 yes old and have had these for as long as I can remember.
Avatar f tn A plus sign or two vertical lines is a positive result
Avatar n tn Hi and welcome, I can't think of anything MS related that would create streaks or lines on the skin, DMD's are connected to lumps, dint's, welts, rashes though......i did look at your picture to get a better idea of what you meant by 'streaks or lines' and to me they honestly just remind me of vertical finger nail surface scratch lines, which are more likely to appear and stay visible for hours if your skin is sensitive.
Avatar f tn I did follow instructions but doesnt mention anything about horizontal lines and both lines were dark
Avatar f tn My sister is 51 and has a vertical line straight down the middle of her cheek from her zygomatic bone to her jaw - what could cause this?
Avatar m tn t changed in appearance, colour and size since then. Nobody in my family has these lines on their fingernails. I just wanted to know if these are a benign cause of melanonychia straita or something more serious. will these go away in the future or will I go to see a dermatologist. It would be really helpful if somebody can give an explanation of why I developed these lines on both of my middle finger nails even though nobody in my family has them. if you want I can attach pictures.

Avatar n tn My ferritin was at 18 and I felt major affects from that -- very cold, especially hands and feet, extreme fatigue, foggy brained, etc. Check out your fingernails. A little lesser known fact is that vertical raised lines in your fingernails can point to anemia as well as spoon shaped nails. It's called kolynchia if I remember right and I have it. 18 ferritin is low especially for a male.
