Avatar m tn At this point, I was pretty sure that I had a thyroid problem that was causing my symptoms (weight gain, hair loss, fatigue, brain fog, headaches, dizziness, low body temps, fingernail ridges, stomach pain) and I went to see an endocrinologist. Here is where things get confusing. Over the last year, I have been taking thyroid hormones. First, I took 50mcg of Tirosint. Strangely, my symptoms did not get any better and my labs didn’t really get better either.
Avatar f tn The ridge on your fingernail, blurriness, writing/typing mistakes, and chemical sensitivites/new allergies are all known symptoms of Lyme. I had all but the fingernail ridges. I also hadn't been to the eye doc in 2 years, and thought my astigmatism was getting a bit worse. I got an exam, and 2 weeks later when my lenses arrived, the right one was a bit off. I had it redone twice, after which they wrecked my frames.
Avatar n tn Doctor says it's probably a malabsorption problem and referred me to hematologist, gastroenterologist and neurologist. Do you think the fingernail discoloration has anything to do with the megaloblastic anemia I'm suffering from?

Avatar n tn I did just have some blood tests run. I asked for an ESR and an arthritic panel and WBC-I get to hear the results tomorrow. I also suspect Reynaud's syndrome for the feet and have realized I have typically cold ears, nose, and fingers. I also read that an epidural compression syndrome like cauda equina syndrome can cause cold feet. The odd fingernails began to show 2-3 years ago.
Avatar m tn Diagnosed by gram staining and KOH wet mounts from the skin and nail scrapings. Treatment includes warm water soaks of the affected finger 3-4 times per day, oral antibiotics, topical antifungals and surgical intervention in more severe cases. My sincere advice would be to consult a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn My real nails were wrecked afterwards with uneven ridges which just made me bite them more! Now I want to try to stop again but I do it so constantly it's like it's part of me now. I'm going to try the icky tasting stuff (again) AND the accountability (you guys all know now!) AND rewards/punishments...

Avatar n tn Hydrogen peroxide you used means you have an infection. Since your wounds is so deep. You can't use hydrocortisone treatment yet, till the skin is not deep. You have mild case of eczema, if it coming and going. Your doctor would check your back and chest. If not present it means you have nothing to worry about. See your doctor for an allergy skin test, any skin contact touch with laundry detergent, etc. can make your skin dry and cracked.
Avatar n tn The small bumps form into blisters and can become very painful. The cause is not known. Treatment too is spotty at best. Corticosteroid creams and ointments. These must be prescribed by your doctor. They are given to help speed the disappearance and improve the appearance of the blisters. The creams also help the cracks and fissures left when the blisters disappear. Compresses.
