Hi I just want to know what can cause some or all of these combined symptoms, Hair thinning, lost of appetite, a few dark toenails but not all of them, 1 fingernail half light pink half light brown with vertical lines no ridges, wart on ball of both feet and lately some lost of taste (I'm thinking due to thin white film on tongue) I was a Severe smoker until recently when I stopped.
I have vertical ridges that have developed on my thumb nails and when I recently went to the dentist she found tartar under the gumline on the back of my teeth and she asked if I was a diabetic? This all may be several pieces leading to nothing but I was wondering if anyone has ever been through anything similar.
what's up with deep vertical nail ridges? and what are they a sign of? is it parathyroidism too?
I have low vit d3 levels and low thyroid. I am now being tested for parathyroid but only after insisting on it because this is the second time in the past year my vit d level dropped under 15. The bone pain in awful. This time around I have it in my right leg and thumbs, last time pain was across my upper back and thumbs as well as other bone locations on the body. Silly isn't it?
3- Two days ago I noticed ridges on 2 fingernails while the rest of nails have vertical lines without ridges.
Treatment:
1-I went to ENT after my 6 weeks symptoms and he gave me gargle which did not work.
2-After 52 days of last exposure I went to another ENT specialistand I told him about my sexual exposure so he requested Sypillis and anti Hiv tests besides throat swap culture.
3- Throat swap culture shows normal streptococcus bacteria and ENT told me the result is fine.
This is oftem caused by getting too much Calcium i have had this too and I realized it was because i was getting too much calcium if you are taking a Calcium supplement and eating alot of dairy you may be over doing it just some advice
They do not have complete horizontal ridges across them. Sort of like moguls on a ski slope. They are not discolored and it only occurs in those two fingernails.
She has had this for close to a year. She's rarely sick and if it was nail fungus I would think it would have spread to her other nails.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give. I am a professional guitar player with growing concerns over the health of my fingernails. Over the past 5 years, I have practiced guitar daily on average of 3-4 hrs a day, with 1 hr a day minimum on "off" days. Since the start, I've noticed that the nail bed (and subsequently the overall length of the nail) of my ring finger on the left (guitar fretting) hand has gradually shortened.
What do the lines look like and are they colored? If you have fingernail fungus the topicals don't work. You would have to take a prescription oral drug (Lamisil) for three months then it kills the nail. I just went through this with my toe nail. The nail is usually yellowish.

it took me 3 months to start to feel better. and I still get bad times every now and then. yes I got the vertical ridges on the nail. the anxiety. I lost some hair from temple and ridge but not a major issue. hope you too feel well soon. hang on there. P.S: I changed the profile, didn't pay much attention when I created it.
What did your fingernail look like that made them a "dead giveaway"? Also, what enzymes do you take to aid digestion?

I have been feeling very weak, fatigued, no appetite, deep vertical ridges in fingernails, freezing cold hands and feet; I have hot, stabbing, deep aching pain in my right foot that seems to alternate all over, like a new pain in a different area of my right foot daily, and memory loss. I struggle to find words.
My lab tests results: I have high RBC 4.99 (and have had in the past, only sometimes it’s normal), high Hemotocrit 44, low RDW 11.9, low MCHC 32.
My fingernails are the worst and I am so very tired and weak. They are very soft and thin with ridges. I thought the synthyroid was supposed to help with these issues. Am I wrong and is something else going wrong

I also have slightly distinguishable vertical ridges on my finger nails and hair loss combined with dry brittle looking hair and occasionally dry itchy elbows. Upon these symptoms I self diagnosed my condition to be a lack of zinc in my diet, however upon doing a zinc test the results alleviated that prognosis. I am stuck, I really need some answers, my condition is starting to affect my self confidence.
Please help.
