Common Questions and Answers about Filgrastim g-csf

neupogen

443922 tn?1374157016 He was probably referring to Neupogen which is also known Filgrastim which is a human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). Basically, it encourages the growth of the white blood cels that the Interferon depletes with treatment. For more information go to neupogen.com The riba, similarly, depletes red blood cell. If your hemoglobin gets low they might also prescribe Procrit for that. Go to procrit.com to learn about that stuff.
Avatar m tn These data suggest that further meticulous studies are required to determine the criteria for dose reduction and to define the use of G-CSF for PEG-IFN-induced neutropenia. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In this study 2876 patients: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20830784?dopt=Abstract# Bacterial infections during treatment with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin are not associated with neutropenia.
493068 tn?1224765315 my stats seem to go up and down so I only have to take it now every 2 wks. It is unknown whether filgrastim (Neupogen) increases or decreasses an individual's risk of developing cancer. Based on limited long-term data from healthy people ( if a person is healthy why would they need neupogen in the first place ) who have received filgrastim, no long-term risks have been found so far. good luck to you....hope this helped!
751951 tn?1406632863 Okay, yesterday I mentioned that I'd requested the full reports after the neuro's office sent postcards informing me all is well. No idea how much any of this means (that's why I come here, of course), but here's what I'm picking up out of the repoorts that came today. Under the heading "Immunoglobulin G Index," it lists IgG, Quant, CSF, 1.8 mg/dL, limits 0.0 to 8.6. Albumin, CSF, 56 mg/dL, limits 11 - 48 (flagged as high).
Avatar m tn Do you mean filgrastim? And are you saying Dengue fever? It would be a surprising though perhaps not impossible use of filgrastim. Dengue is usually treated by pain managers and sometimes hospitalization and a blood transfusion. Anyway, if you have a legitimate prescription from a doctor, you should be able to fill it in the United States.
Avatar f tn For this reason, patients are prescribed antibiotics and even receive injections to increase white blood counts (such as filgrastim or lenograstim). If this 0.4 value really pertains to your white counts, then I believe this is really low and what you are experiencing is a condition called 'febrile neutropenia'. I would suggest you ask your doctor about filgrastim or lenograstim injections aside from the Levaquin. Regards.
Avatar n tn You can ask your hematologist for G-CSF injection if you have persistent neutropenia. Patients with CML are immunocompromised and can easily acquire infections. Neutropenia also puts a patient in an immunocompromised state. For now, it is very important to prevent acquiring any infection. You should avoid crowded places and persons with ongoing infection. Good luck.
Avatar f tn In the absence of data, reduction in IFN dose and/or G-CSF dose for those who develop neutropenia while undergoing IFN-based therapy for HCV infection are often initiated in clinical practice, as suggested in treatment guidelines [6] and mandated in most clinical trials [15]. Reduction of IFN dose is well accepted to have a detrimental effect on the rate of sustained virological response [2].
Avatar f tn This headache is completely different to what she was experiencing before the lumbar puncture. Initially, doctors suggested this was a low CSF pressure headache due to too much CSF fluid being taken during the lumbar puncture. The blood patch was done 3 weeks after the lumbar puncture and provided approximately 12 hours of relief, and enabled her to stand up without too much trauma.
Avatar n tn Filgrastim is also prescribed as pegfilgrastim (called Neulasta). My doctor used the 500 neutrophill count as a cut-off, so every time I got down around 500 I used Neulasta. The interferon drops neutrophils and platelets. Some people can do okay with low neutrophils but just as many end up with kidney and sinus infections, etc., that make you even more miserable.
Avatar m tn Does a drug such as Neupogen (G-CSF) increases the possibility of rejection due to increased WBC? Or is rejection caused by another part of the immune system rather than WBC and ANC?
Avatar f tn My sister has a CSF leak and I'm looking for a doctor on the East coast that specializes in finding and fixing CSF leaks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar f tn The Panel reaffirmed that positive cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) findings (elevated immunoglobulin G [IgG] index or 2 or more oligoclonal bands) can be important to support the inflammatory demyelinating nature of the underlying condition, to evaluate alternative diagnoses, and to predict CDMS. This is an excerpt only. I'll post the entire revision in a separate post.
Avatar m tn Doctors unable to give any explanation for such wide variations on a dose to dose basis. Till date, I have also taken 5 doses of Filgrastim - the WBC Stimulator. Can you pleae advice possible reasons for such wide fluctuations.
Avatar n tn If she develops infection (febrile neutrpenia), then the doctors amy plan to give injections with G-CSF after her next cycle of chemotherapy. G-CSF is known to shorten the duration of neutropenia.
314532 tn?1206415109 Hey G-Girl, That sooo sucks about your ins people, If I didn't know better I'd swear you were kidding about them waiting for you to go into Liver Failure before they pay for your meds. That just sounds so insane to me. Why not contact the AMA American Medical Assoc. , and ask them about your ins. co. Best of luck getting Med. Attn. I can't stop shaking my head, this is so wrong, on so many levels.
