Filgrastim peg

Common Questions and Answers about Filgrastim peg

neupogen

Avatar m tn Doctors unable to give any explanation for such wide variations on a dose to dose basis. Till date, I have also taken 5 doses of Filgrastim - the WBC Stimulator. Can you pleae advice possible reasons for such wide fluctuations.
Avatar f tn Several people here have used it. Actually, what gets whacked is a component of the WBC call neutrophils - sometime referred absolute neutrophils or ANCs. These are a separate line item on a CBC report. Docs invoke the use of Neupogen at at different levels. I found the use of Neup to be a non-event, no side effects. Others expereince bone pain and injection site soreness. It's much better to use Neupogen than to reduce the dose of the Peg.
Avatar m tn I am currently on the ribivarin and peg-interferon compound treatment. In month 4, and WBC is dropping. Dr. has ordered more blood work. I'm just trying to educate myself alittle before the CBC analysis. I really don't want to cut back on the treatment. I've gone through this much and mentally I'm ok with the crap it puts you through. I'm just looking for ideas to get the WBC back up there.
493068 tn?1224765315 my stats seem to go up and down so I only have to take it now every 2 wks. It is unknown whether filgrastim (Neupogen) increases or decreasses an individual's risk of developing cancer. Based on limited long-term data from healthy people ( if a person is healthy why would they need neupogen in the first place ) who have received filgrastim, no long-term risks have been found so far. good luck to you....hope this helped!
Avatar m tn Do you mean filgrastim? And are you saying Dengue fever? It would be a surprising though perhaps not impossible use of filgrastim. Dengue is usually treated by pain managers and sometimes hospitalization and a blood transfusion. Anyway, if you have a legitimate prescription from a doctor, you should be able to fill it in the United States.
1391695 tn?1298139789 They should be able to give you immediate results. Regardless of the outcome, take the peg and the riba on schdeule. The docs are making a big deal out of nothing. Do not delay the Peg. Not sure where the "can delay it by 2 days I heard" comes from but the stuff is designed for dosing once a week, not every 9 days. You have the Peg in your possession right?
Avatar f tn For this reason, patients are prescribed antibiotics and even receive injections to increase white blood counts (such as filgrastim or lenograstim). If this 0.4 value really pertains to your white counts, then I believe this is really low and what you are experiencing is a condition called 'febrile neutropenia'. I would suggest you ask your doctor about filgrastim or lenograstim injections aside from the Levaquin. Regards.
Avatar n tn s discretion, not by name, but as a drug that may be helpful if hemoglobin drops. They did provide it along with the trial meds. It also mentioned filgrastim, also not by name, but as a drug that could be useful to treat low neutrophils. It did NOT mention doctor's discretion, but indicated that it would be permissible to use it during the trial. My insurance covered it.
Avatar n tn Filgrastim is also prescribed as pegfilgrastim (called Neulasta). My doctor used the 500 neutrophill count as a cut-off, so every time I got down around 500 I used Neulasta. The interferon drops neutrophils and platelets. Some people can do okay with low neutrophils but just as many end up with kidney and sinus infections, etc., that make you even more miserable.
881890 tn?1286553760 I believe neupogen lasts about a week. Neulasta is the same drug as neupogen (filgrastim) but is pegylated to keep it working on the bone marrow longer. Insurance paid for mine with a $100 co-pay. I cleared early and kept getting my peginterferon reduced for low platelets. I was freaked out at first to be dose-reduced. I remained clear regardless of the reduction and the study team did not seem to think it was a big deal. They were pretty worked up over keeping the riba up to full dose.
Avatar m tn Neulasta® (pegfilgrastim) or NEUPOGEN® (Filgrastim) may reduce your chance of getting an infection, but it does not prevent all infections. An infection can happen anytime your neutrophil counts are low. Look for signs of infection, such as fever, chills, rash, sore throat, diarrhea, or redness, swelling, or pain around a cut or sore. If you have any of these signs, contact your health care professional immediately. http://www.neulasta.com/starting-chemo-with-neulasta/about-neulasta-neupogen.
Avatar n tn Hi, With modern medical advances, especially effective anti-emetics, and growth factors (filgrastim), chemotherapy has become safer and more tolerable over the last decade or so. Hair loss will be your major side effect, and some intermittent illnesses may also be expected during the course of chemotherapy. But your overall long-term benefit will be much more than these temporary effects. All the Best!
476246 tn?1418870914 , the primary ‘rescue’ meds are (generic) epoetin alpha (brand names Epogen, Procrit, Aransp), and filgrastim (generic) (brand name Neupogen). We do have a platelet booster here that has been approved for cancer treatment; it is generically known as oprelvekin (brand name Neumega), but its use has not been FDA approved for HCV treatment to my knowledge; it tends to worsen hemolytic anemia, although we have had a few patients in forum that have tried it.
1010685 tn?1295032636 However, the side effects of IFN and riba will be a little more visible a day or so after the peg shot and if they are crashing your blood badly you would have time to correct problems with rescue meds before the next shot (the safest course of action).
Avatar m tn These data suggest that further meticulous studies are required to determine the criteria for dose reduction and to define the use of G-CSF for PEG-IFN-induced neutropenia. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In this study 2876 patients: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20830784?dopt=Abstract# Bacterial infections during treatment with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin are not associated with neutropenia.
2022648 tn?1328711666 Hello, this is my first time on this forum. I just wanted to see if anyone is having or has had some of the same problems. Five weeks ago I started a 48 week treatment for hep b with 180 mg Pegasys. The nurse gave me my first injection in my arm which hurt for two weeks. Since then, I've alternated the injection sites. Twice in my thighs and twice in my belly. I have these big, round, red rashes with bruises in the middle. They just seem to be getting worse.
220282 tn?1214318819 s being tested for autism.Mymain concern is would this be a long term teatment or wil they remve the peg if and when he starts to eat more. And are there any side effects. His consultant has gone annual leave nd the only info i am getting s off the internet if yone can help i'd really appreciate it.
Avatar f tn I just took my first shot of Peg Intron Friday night, and I got pretty sick, but thank God after I stayed in bed the next day I felt better. Do these reactions happen every time you inject it or does your body eventually get use to it. Also my viral load is only 300 and I have genotype 1. Can anyone give me more information about my Hep C being cured after this treatment or does it ever get cured?
220282 tn?1214318819 t eat solid foods he now weighs 17 pound 8 ounces his consultant has suggested peg feeds through the stomach does anyone know anything about this he's also been diagnosed with sensory issues, communication issues and reppetative issues he will sit and spin things for hours at a time and zone out to all noises.
Avatar m tn A thought occurred to me (rare these days) that I should try todecrese to 1/2 the peg while maintaining the riba and alinia at their current levels. When I predosed with alinia/riba, my hemoglobin trended downwards --though not severely-- and the alinia had no adverse effects except some nausea. On the other hand, the viral load dropped steadily, as did the AST, ALT, GGT . All in all, I was feeling much better than I had for a while. Coincidence?
16584782 tn?1449394404 go to canada or mexico to have hbsag quant before and during therapy if labs close to you dont have it without hbsag quant it is impossible to know response
479244 tn?1271563659 Pegasys uses a branched PEG molecule to bond to its IFN alpha (2a) which keeps it in your system slightly longer than Peg-Intron which uses a non-branched PEG molecule on its IFN alpha (2b). The two pegylated interferons seem to work equaly well Or something like that.
