I did recently post a link to Dr. De Meirleir's new research that was presented at the International CFS/ME Conference in London: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Fibromyalgia---CFS/New-Research-on-What-Causes-CFS-ME-by-Dr-Kenny-De-Meirleir--MD-PhD/show/963052 I've read articles written by Dr. DeMeirleir in the past. 554442 tn?1221235225 Fibromyalgia (FMS or Fibro for short) is a chronic condition which causes widespread pain and fatigue as well as a variety of other symptoms. The name Fibromyalgia comes from "fibro" meaning fibrous tissues (such as tendons and ligaments), "my" meaning muscles, and "algia" meaning pain. Fibro does not cause joint pain or swelling. The pain from Fibromyalgia is produced in the soft tissues of the body, including the muscles and tendons. http://www.mayoclinic.

Avatar n tn I have read some articles about autoimmune responses to vasectomies and believe this is something I should begin to research. I know there is some research being performed and I am sure there are some doctors that have there own concerns about these autoimmune possibilities. Can you direct me towards any resources including research, drug trials or doctors related to the study of autoimmune diseases and particularly possible autoimmune effects of vasectomies?
587071 tn?1218542387 Every thing came out okay but I still have the lumps. My family doctor thinks fibromyalgia is all in my head and its not a real disease. How ever the rumatodaligist thought the other way.Since I had know swelling of my joints they ruled out arthrities. Even though I dont think I have fibromyalgia it could be that I do.I just have a feeling that there is more going on with me.Some days I'm so scared because my body hurts so bad and I cant do any thing for it.
21352 tn?1196462738 I've been doing TONS of research and have come across some very interesting articles on T3 drugs. Does anyone take them?? Any success?? Anyone take them with negative results?? The way my levels are looking I'm wondering if I am having a problem coverting to T3, it would certainly explain my symptoms AND my Fibromyalgia diagnosis as well. Thanks in advance!!

Avatar f tn I really NEED SOMEONE with medical expertise to PLEASE help me with my puzzle... everyday there are new pieces, but they only create more questions, and still no answers! I am fairly intelligent and able to research, with a decent amount of understanding, but I'm just not finding any answers! My recent bloodwork, consistent with previous bloodwork, shows a positive ANA with 1:320 titer, and a nucleolar pattern. But the puzzling part is the antihistone antibodies 7.
Avatar n tn Evidently Fibromyalgia appeared as a diagnosis after the TSH test appeared (much like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)...and many say that is because the TSH did not pick up people who were hypothyroid...and thus having muscle pain from it. Remember the TSH started out with a upper limit of 10 and is now down to 3...so one has to wonder how many people received a Fibro diagnosis when they just needed some thyroid hormone to relieve symptoms.

Avatar f tn MedHelp just added "Health Pages" for our board ! You can find the Health Pages to your right under "discussions". The Health Pages are a terrific resource for those of us who want to post treatments, research, news & articles and other helpful information on fibromyalgia and CFS/ME. I know I often repeat myself on the board... so I will probably be posting info on the Health Pages soon.
Avatar f tn I am a medical student doing a research project. I was given a task to produce a five-year plan to tackle the assigned health problem within a specific population. So, the assigned health problem is febrile illness and I chose the USA population, which means febrile illness in returning travelers or international travelers and how the USA advises and tries to reduce travel related illness in its population. Hence, I need to find articles related to: 1. epidemiology of the problem 2.
