So any medication that you can go in and buy without a prescription is considered an over the counter medication. This would include every single med lined up on the shelves ..... pain killers, cough meds, diarrhea meds, nausea meds, stomach meds, anti-itching meds, everything. If I recall correctly, you have cirrhosis, so you really do have to be careful not to take anything that the doctor does not approve first.

But, I would like to know if there is an over the counter medicine. I only get the urgency after a little stress. It stops after 10 hours or so on it's own. But, a cheaper "as needed" OTC medicine would sure be something I am interested in.

yes yes, I am clean from Vicoden, Antidepresants but still am using a sleep aid, have been using over the counter meds for sleep since the 80's then went to prescription sleep aid and now I only sleep 3 or 4 hours using them. I am going to go off them soon. My Dr would like to see me wait until Jan just because I came off two meds this year and had surgery's but please don't go to prescription sleep aids I think it is harder to get off them than OCT.

The pharmacy here in Sweden sells it over the counter, so it should be over the counter everywhere (virtually EVERYthing needs a prescription here, and if Voltaren Gel doesn't, then it should be available everywhere). Google Voltaren Gel and see if you can find it at an online pharmacy, if you can't find it near you. You might even try MSM powder, dissolved in oil or aloe vera gel, and massaged in. Jarrow has a good quality product (many are not good - especially those from China).

There shouldn't be any chemical reactions taking the two together. The combination will not give the methadone a boost or cause any kind of "high".
