Avatar f tn m 32wks and a FTM and my son has hiccups quite often and was wondering if its normal? I read somewhere that it could be a sign of the umbilical cord could be wrapped around the neck? It occurs after I eat sometimes and then sometimes he just gets them out of the blue. I am the type to worry a lot but im just wondering if anyone else's baby had hiccups a lot?
Avatar f tn How do you know where the umbilical cord is? It moves all over, there is no way to tell where the umbilical cord is unless you have an ultrasound done, and there is no way to know if there is a h/b there without an ultrasound or a fetal doppler, and even then it could be your h/b, so I doubt you're pregnant.
Avatar n tn However, the early membranes formed during conception, grows in to Fetal sac, amnion, chorion and umbilical cord, placenta, amniotic fluid etc, can be visualized and their status must be estimated along with fetal development. However come back with the results, we can interpret it.
Avatar f tn Was it a 3D scan?? It can be hard to find specific things in ultrasounds, and if she's progressing fine and baby is fine, chances are the umbilical cord are just fine as well!
Avatar n tn Prenatal CNS damage may be caused by maternal and fetal infections, diseases, problems with the placenta or umbilical cord, or maternal use of harmful substances such as alcohol or certain drugs.
Avatar n tn About 1 percent of singleton and about 5 percent of multiple pregnancies (twins, triplets or more) have an umbilical cord that contains only two blood vessels, instead of the normal three. In these cases, one artery is missing (2). The cause of this abnormality, called single umbilical artery, is unknown.
Avatar n tn Here's some more info. Seems that it's not really a problem, though it's good for the doctor/midwife to be aware of. Question: Is the Cord Around the Baby's Neck at Birth a Problem? Answer: Parents are often frightened to think about the baby's umbilical cord being around the neck at birth. The truth is that this is a very common event, occurring in about one third of all births. The cord becomes wrapped around the neck during pregnancy as the baby moves around.
Avatar f tn Submitted fresh is a placenta with membranes and umbilical cord. The eccentrically inserted cord measures 18 cm. in length and 1.2 cm. in diameter, and contains three blood vessels. It is tan-white and shows a right twist. The membranes show marginal insertion. The sac is incomplete. The point of rupture cannot be determined. The placental disc is oval in shape, weighs 805 grams and measures 25 cm. x 22 cm. x 3 cm.
Avatar f tn Omphaloceles are generally simple hernias of the bowel within the umbilical cord. However, some can be very large and result in large hernia sacs extending from the abdominal wall and contain the fetal liver, stomach and bowel. Simple omphaloceles where loops of bowel are within a hernia sac adjacent to the umbilical cord can be associated with chromosomal or genetic syndromes.
581359 tn?1454006442 Have any of you had or heard of velamentous insertion or single umbilical artery? We had our stage II ultrasound today and found out that we have both. Our baby girl is growing perfect, everything look great with her, but the umbilical cord is a little bit of an issue. We are 19 weeks 6 days today. Velamentous Insertion - is pretty much where the umbilical cord attaches toward the edge of the placenta instead of the middle like normal.
7157499 tn?1411821385 My first Granddaughter was born still at 36.6 weeks due to torsion of her umbilical cord ~ not a true knot or nuchal cord but delivers the same devastation and heartache. I would definitely mention your concerns to your health care team. Please don't make yourself miserable when you are pregnant dwelling on the possibility of your baby being born still. There are a few things you need to know to ENJOY your pregnancy and STOP worrying about your baby who is living very happily inside you!!!
Avatar f tn the whole lifting things above your head isnt true the baby moving around in there sometimes causes them to get tangled with the umbilical cord, they can also make a knot in the umbilical cord which is also something to worry about. Unfortunately this is something out of our hands we can't cause it nor prevent it. This is why you should keep track of your babies movements. if you feel even the slightest change in your babies behavior I'd go to the hospital better safe than sorry!!
1148547 tn?1272052963 If you mean hurt the baby then yes it CAN cause problems, however it does not always. You are not going to know if the umbilical cord is wrapped or even knotted. The only way to know is to have it detected during an ultrasound or when baby is born. This isn't a common occurance, and I don't mean to scare you, but occasionally a baby is so active that the cord becomes tight around the babies neck which can either send the baby into fetal distress or worse.
Avatar n tn subchorionic cyst is a placental cyst from the fetal side,as you know the placenta has 2 sides maternal and fetal side which is facing the fetus, any way its of no significance as i ve been told by my doctor and thats what i read in many sites also, but they added that if it attained large size or sited near umbilical cord insertion they may cause intrauterine growth restiction but this is not comman, any way i prefer you consult your obstetrician for assurance. wish u a healthy baby.
9525685 tn?1410800512 I went to a place called fetal studios in my local mall They do only ultrasound The ultrasound technician told me that it was easier to search for the sex of the baby at around 15 to 16 weeks because the baby is nice and small and they can manipulate the baby to move its legs and the genitals usually start swelling further on in the pregnancy My technician showed me the three lines indicating girl very quickly however he did keep looking around and from the side view we saw the umbilical cor
Avatar f tn Im doing mine this week! Some of the things... no IV unless is necesary, no constant fetal monitor unless is necesary, I want to walk and move, no epidural, I want to eat and drink, I want to breastfeed right after delivery and I don't want them to cut the umbilical cord until the placenta is out or until the umbilical cord is pale and without a beat. ... I will cause some nurses a headache if they want to do what they want...
Avatar f tn And the last 6 weeks they do fetal monitoring twice a week for 45 minutes, check the fluid, umbilical cord, placenta, position of baby etc. I'm assuming it'll be the same for you.
3055148 tn?1368211800 They look at the baby's brain, kidneys, placenta, umbilical cord, and babys growth development in it's bones and stuff. :) maybe 30 minutes to an hour.
896815 tn?1279805115 This has always been an underlying fear of mine as well. Twisting and knotting of the umbilical cord can result in serious distress and fetal demise. My son had the cord wrapped around his neck upon delivery, and I remember him being a shade of blue that almost put me in cardiac arrest..although he is 2yrs old now. The fetal monitor should show when any fetal distress is present, but sometimes I guess it doesn't. I wonder if an u/s would have detected that.
Avatar f tn Also- my old doctor recommended having a repeat anatomy scan because the umbilical cord looked like something was wrong and my new doctor is saying it is unnecessary.
Avatar f tn There is a reason for this biologically. The foetal bladder was drained via the umbilical cord and umbilicus. It all developed from the same tissue in the embryo so that is why bladder pain is felt as referred pain to the belly button. If you press round the belly button you will find it doesn't increase the pain. There is no organic structure near or behind the belly button causing it. It is referred from the inflammed bladder because of the embryonic connection.
Avatar f tn Accidents involving the umbilical cord may contribute to about 2 to 4 percent of stillbirths. These include a knot in the cord or abnormal placement of the cord into the placenta. These can deprive the fetus of oxygen. Other causes of stillbirth include trauma (such as car accidents), postdate pregnancy (a pregnancy that lasts longer than 42 weeks), Rh disease (an incompatibility between the blood of mother and baby), and lack of oxygen (asphyxia) during a difficult delivery.
Avatar n tn My friend recently had to have an induction and that resulted the umbilical cord wrapped around his throat and been at the hosptial for a month now. Has anyone had a successful induction?
1656499 tn?1363233985 t very active at that point or was putting pressure on the umbilical cord. Do your fetal kick counts daily and if you notice anything concerning go to the hospital or call your doc right away just to be safe. Wait and see what the new monitoring reveals in 3 days. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Has anyone else dealt with a short umbilical cord? What effects could it have on the baby?!
Avatar f tn I have one too and I can pick up 3 beats sometimes, the babys which is always super fast, my own, and I am thinking either the placenta or the umbilical cord.
