Avatar f tn Week 6 - Gestational Age (Fetal age 4 weeks) 5 ½ to 6 ½ weeks is usually a very good time to detect either a fetal pole or even a fetal heart beat by vaginal ultrasound. The fetal pole is the first visible sign of a developing embryo. This pole structure actually has some curve to it with the embryo’s head at one end and what looks like a tail at the other end. The fetal pole now allows for crown to rump measurements (CRL) to be taken, so that pregnancy dating can be a bit more accurate.
Avatar f tn My doctor is doing an ultrasound at 12 weeks for measurements for downs. I’m not understand how if notbing is fully formed.
Avatar f tn s the scoop. The machine will give an EFW (ESTIMATED FETAL WEIGHT) based on fetal biometric measurements. Reread that sentence....ESTIMATED. Fetal length is not evaluated by ultrasound. WE go by certain guidelines to achieve measurements as accurately as possible. I follow those guidelines to the best of my ability. It can be difficult to do due to fetal position and/or maternal obesity. Most babies are 18-22 inches at birth.
Avatar f tn Sounds like the growth of baby is progressing normally, the only thing I hadnt heard of either was the "tail". Below is a complicated quote that mentions the growth and then regression of the "tail" during early fetal development. Do you have a follow-up US to monitor things? Your HCG levels and observation of HB are very encouraging. "the rostral neuropore closes and develops into the forebrain prominence and then the head.

Avatar f tn I had an ultrasound done at what I thought was 5 weeks 5 days and a yolk sac was seen but no fetal heart or fetal pole seen, and a repeat ultrasound to be done 10 days from then. Is this normal to not see any fetal pole or heart at this stage? The ultrasound tech said she wouldnt put me at 5 weeks 5 days.

Avatar f tn m 6 weeks pregnant at the moment and i thought everything was going find until i got a call from my hospital telling me they needed to schedule me for an earlier appointment because when reviewing my ultrasounds they saw a problem with the fetus development. does anyone have any idea what this can mean? I would really appreciate it if you can help.
1364217 tn?1278522005 First ultrasound last week showed 8 mm measurements of gestational sac, but no yolk sac. Hope to see yolk, as well as fetal pole and maybe even heartbeat tomorrow.
Avatar n tn It's normal, especially if you didn't know your conception date. Due dates are based off of babys size and development but some women have large/small babies so it's sort of a guesstimate. Your best bet is to go by the due date given from the ultrasound because that's always nearly exact (due to it being based on development of the baby).
Avatar f tn 20 mm Fetal heart rate: 164 bpm, the other one is 33,7 X 18,4 Fetal length: 16,7 mm Yolk Sac: 5,9 mm Fetal heart rate: 166 bpm Also embryon1 age is 10w3d but embryon 2 is 9w2d. I'm very concerned. Are those differences ok? The next ultrasound is in 10 days and the wait is killing me.

Avatar n tn At my first ultrasound, I was told I was 8 weeks pregnant. I was also told the fetal heart rate was 170. I went to the doctor again and asked about conception date as it was my first month off the pill and he told me it would have been 5 weeks from the ultrasound. That would have made me 7 weeks pregnant.
Avatar f tn Fundal height measurements and listening to fetal heart tones is plenty to reassure your doctor or midwife that baby is growing and healthy.
Avatar f tn and if it is possible for them to be off by a whole month? or if it is even possible for a fetal heart beat to be dectected at 4 weeks? please help me out because i am not sure when i exactly ovulated and i really question the doctors estimates.
Avatar m tn So we figured yesterday when the Ultrasound was done that we were around 7 weeks. When the Ultrasound tech made the measurements, she found a clear heartbeat, it was 119, but the measurements she said only meausred up to be 5 weeks not 7. I know two weeks is a big deal, does this mean my wife cheated on me and that I'm not the dad? Doe it mean something could be wrong with the baby? We know the exact dates we had sex. Please help, veryconfused.
