Sounds like the growth of baby is progressing normally, the only thing I hadnt heard of either was the "tail". Below is a complicated quote that mentions the growth and then regression of the "tail" during early fetal development. Do you have a follow-up US to monitor things? Your HCG levels and observation of HB are very encouraging.

My doctor is doing an ultrasound at 12 weeks for measurements for downs. I’m not understand how if notbing is fully formed.
m 6 weeks pregnant at the moment and i thought everything was going find until i got a call from my hospital telling me they needed to schedule me for an earlier appointment because when reviewing my ultrasounds they saw a problem with the fetus development. does anyone have any idea what this can mean? I would really appreciate it if you can help.
Like the previous poster said....it's medical babble....but having been pregnant 5 times and having had numerous ultrasounds....everything sounds just fine.
1. States that the baby is alive, looks normal and the heart is good.
2. Says the amniotic fluid is at a good level
3. There were no defects found
4. Just notes where the placenta is.

The baby only measured 1cm which from my research isnt as big as most are this far long however Im not panicking about that as Ive been told all fetal development is different. Ive also taken some comfort in how nauseated ive been which to me is a good sign, but not so fun! So as of now I am relaxed and excited!!
At my first ultrasound, I was told I was 8 weeks pregnant. I was also told the fetal heart rate was 170. I went to the doctor again and asked about conception date as it was my first month off the pill and he told me it would have been 5 weeks from the ultrasound. That would have made me 7 weeks pregnant.
If you break embryonic and fetal development into thirds then when you are in your 28th week the baby begins its final third of development. (Gestation is 266 days or 38 weeks of development). So either way you look at it you are in your 3rd trimester!
20 mm Fetal heart rate: 164 bpm, the other one is 33,7 X 18,4 Fetal length: 16,7 mm
Yolk Sac: 5,9 mm Fetal heart rate: 166 bpm
Also embryon1 age is 10w3d but embryon 2 is 9w2d. I'm very concerned. Are those differences ok?
The next ultrasound is in 10 days and the wait is killing me.

These measurements help the doctor track growth and development in babies and toddlers. Head circumference is measured to help track brain development. IF a baby's head is measuring significantly smaller or bigger than other kids of the same age, this could indicate a problem.
