Common Questions and Answers about Fetal development via ultrasound

fetal-development

Avatar n tn I am almost 5weeks and my doctor said I can have an ultrasound after I hit 5weeks to determine how many... I don't think we will be able to see baby at this point, just sac. He also said that my hcg numbers need to be around 1200 for them to see anything via ultrasound. So it's good they are doing bloodwork.
Avatar f tn I had an ultrasound done at what I thought was 5 weeks 5 days and a yolk sac was seen but no fetal heart or fetal pole seen, and a repeat ultrasound to be done 10 days from then. Is this normal to not see any fetal pole or heart at this stage? The ultrasound tech said she wouldnt put me at 5 weeks 5 days.
1712422 tn?1443337501 I heard my baby's at 6 weeks via vaginal ultrasound. But I don't think everybody hears it that early.
Avatar f tn m 6 weeks pregnant at the moment and i thought everything was going find until i got a call from my hospital telling me they needed to schedule me for an earlier appointment because when reviewing my ultrasounds they saw a problem with the fetus development. does anyone have any idea what this can mean? I would really appreciate it if you can help.
Avatar f tn 20 mm Fetal heart rate: 164 bpm, the other one is 33,7 X 18,4 Fetal length: 16,7 mm Yolk Sac: 5,9 mm Fetal heart rate: 166 bpm Also embryon1 age is 10w3d but embryon 2 is 9w2d. I'm very concerned. Are those differences ok? The next ultrasound is in 10 days and the wait is killing me.
Avatar n tn Choroid plexus cyst From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Choroid plexus cyst Classification and external resources ICD-10 G93.0 ICD-9 348.0 Choroid plexus cysts (CPCs) are cysts that occur within choroid plexus of the brain. The brain contains pockets or spaces called ventricles with a spongy layer of cells and blood vessels called the choroid plexus. This is in the middle of the fetal brain.
Avatar f tn Yes, how many weeks are you? At six weeks the heartbeat is just able to be measured via ultrasound, and it can be on the low side. At six weeks my daughter's heartrate was 126bpm and by eight weeks it was 179. It can honestly go either way at this point. Some doctor's like to see the heartrate at 90 or above at six weeks. I had a miscarriage in September of '09, and it was one of the hardest things that my DH and I have had to go through.
293845 tn?1227997530 I meant an internal exam... they shouldn't need to do an internal U/S at this stage. I don't think they will do another ultrasound because of a decrease in fetal movement this early on. Many people don't even feel fetal movement at this stage. If the heartrate seems fine via doppler than there should be no reason for an ultrasound. The only reason I mentioned an internal exam was because I had one because I had been having extremely sharp pains that seemed uncommon.
1133565 tn?1261315212 i went for my first scan 2 days ago where i found out i was 6 weeks and 4 days. the docter never told me the rate of the heartbeat but did show me on the screen. 'my baby' measured 8mm at this stage is that normal? because ev everyone im speaking to says it is far too big and should be around 5mm.
Avatar f tn Sorry to hear this. I had never heard of this and did some research. This is what I found. Hope it helps and prayers for you && the little one :) CPCs can form within this structure and come from fluid trapped within this spongy layer of cells, much like a soap bubble or a blister. CPCs are often called "soft signs" or fetal ultrasound "markers" because some studies have found a weak association between CPCs and fetal chromosome abnormalities.
Avatar f tn i had my doctors appointment today the doc afformed me i was 6wks 3days today at the time of my first ultra sound i was approx 5wk 5days no heartbeat only yolk sak and development begfining so the doc said this was normal and heartbeats are usually detected in wk six or even wk seven the nurse tried to say there may only ever be a yolk sac and no bub but the doc and the lady who performed the ultrasound said no heartbeat or fetal pole can be normal at the early stage of five wks now im confused
Avatar n tn So if you are only 5 weeks it sounds like your development is very good seeing both a fetal pole and hb. Did he mention what the heartrate was?? I am not sure what the "likely" fetal pole means because if there is a heartbeat then there is definitely a fetal pole there!! The hcg values vary so much that it seems it would be hard to gauge development by the hcg level except that they say you won't see anything on u/s until you are over 1000 or so. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn is important to fetal lung development. The fetus gets all of its oxygen and nutrients through the placenta and umbilical cord---a process called fetal circulation. Read more: http://www.livestrong.
Avatar f tn Week 6 - Gestational Age (Fetal age 4 weeks) 5 ½ to 6 ½ weeks is usually a very good time to detect either a fetal pole or even a fetal heart beat by vaginal ultrasound. The fetal pole is the first visible sign of a developing embryo. This pole structure actually has some curve to it with the embryo’s head at one end and what looks like a tail at the other end. The fetal pole now allows for crown to rump measurements (CRL) to be taken, so that pregnancy dating can be a bit more accurate.
Avatar n tn We were so happy two weeks ago. We went in for our first ultrasound and our doctor saw two empty sacs. There was no fetal pole or heartbeat. Doctor said the pregnancy is not viable. Any chance the babies are just super slow growing and too tiny to detect because they are twins.
Avatar m tn i went in and they said according to my last menstral cycle i was 7 wks... then i had an ultra sound and it showed me being only 5 wks and no sign on an emryo so i went back 10 days later and the ultra sound showed me being 6 wks 3 days and there was an embryo as well as my babys heartbeat! so... im guessing you are just right at 6 wks if you are even that far bc my dr said you wont see a heartbeat until atleast 6 wks 3 days and possibly not even that soon!!
Avatar m tn How common it is for early ultrasounds to be off in the first trimester, and how much? Doc wants to do one more checkup. My dates don't work so we've spent the last couple weeks trying to determine how far along I am. If I go by last bleed as LMP, I should be 7 and 2, but yesterday's ultrasound showed the sac measuring 5 and 4, and just a hint of fetal pole. No clear pole or hb yet. (Another post explains the whole story.
Avatar f tn Don't worry it's still early. At my 4 week ultrasound they saw a small sack & nothing else. 5 weeks they had a hard time seeing the yolk sac until the lead person did my transvaginalsound. 6 weeks they saw the sac, yolk, & tinyyyy baby with slow fetal pole. 8 weeks they did a regular ultrasound & saw a baby and saw fetal pole. Heard heartbeat when they did a transvaginalsound to hear it. However my doctor said I was lucky to see anything at 6 weeks. So you maybe 5-6 weeks.
Avatar f tn Yes I've seen other forums with people hearing via ultrasound i was never offered that like ...
153475 tn?1359471234 Are you pregnant ladies going by you gestational (lmp) or fetal age (via u/s), I know it usually depends on your provider as to which on they use but idk which mine are actually using lol
Avatar f tn My doctors office also tried few time even around 17 weeks only heard my baby once via Doppler but seen heartbreaking numbers of time via ultrasound. I gave up and sold it causes it was a pain always trying and failing lol some baby's are way back by your back so its hard to find it. Look luck but dont stress because everyone's body and baby is different.
Avatar f tn There is feeble faint heartbeat with fetal development, but doctors are concerned as the baby din show any progressive growth since last 1 week. Only the fetal pole has started showing more prominently. I am very worried. This is scary as i had a spontaneous abortion in only 5 weeks few months back. I wont be able to take a second blow. Request you to give some insight. I have been given a week to observe. I want it to happen.
Avatar m tn 1) failure to identify an embryo in a gestational sac measuring at least 20 mm via transabdominal ultrasound. 2) Failure to identify an embryo in a gestational sac measuring approximately 18mm or more via transvaginal ultrasound. 3) Failure to identify a yolk sac in a gestational sac measuring 13mm or more. Additionally, the outline of the sac may be irregular, incomplete or absent decidual reaction and/or fluid found in the gestational sac.
Avatar f tn Had an ultrasound today I'm 38wks tomorrow and they said my sons heart is beating twice then skipping a beat. She asked about caffeine and I haven't had any for a couple days, she also said it would probably go away. I have another ultrasound on Monday. But I'm so nervous. She also said it could be from not sleeping well which being 38wks pregnant I haven't been sleeping well. Any other moms experience this? I just want my son to be ok.
