The baby only measured 1cm which from my research isnt as big as most are this far long however Im not panicking about that as Ive been told all fetal development is different. Ive also taken some comfort in how nauseated ive been which to me is a good sign, but not so fun! So as of now I am relaxed and excited!!

So if you are only 5 weeks it sounds like your development is very good seeing both a fetal pole and hb. Did he mention what the heartrate was?? I am not sure what the "likely" fetal pole means because if there is a heartbeat then there is definitely a fetal pole there!! The hcg values vary so much that it seems it would be hard to gauge development by the hcg level except that they say you won't see anything on u/s until you are over 1000 or so. Best of luck.

I am 38 years old and have a 4 year old son. According to my doctor, I am 7 weeks pregnant. According to my 6 week u/s, there are 2 sacs, but only 1 has developed. According to my 7 week u/s, there is no change... no fetal pole or visible heartbeat. I've had some mild cramping, but no spotting or bleeding. I'm being forced to wait through the holiday weekend (pure torture) for my doctor to correlate my blood work with my ultrasound to see if my numbers are going up.

m 6 weeks pregnant at the moment and i thought everything was going find until i got a call from my hospital telling me they needed to schedule me for an earlier appointment because when reviewing my ultrasounds they saw a problem with the fetus development. does anyone have any idea what this can mean? Your doctor,ultrasounds, fetal heart monitors ,and etc has led you to believe you were only having one baby and during labor you deliver not one but two babies ?.. How is that so easily missed during doctor visits?

It could be twins. Those numbers are very similar to what mine were. How far are your? But it might also just be one. ..

t go as well as we all had hoped. No fetal development still at 5 weeks and 3 days with out anything present in the sac. Guess it was a blighten ovum. I had my 2nd D & C on Saturday Morning. I just wanted to get it over with and move on. So now I am waiting all the test results to see if there is any reason for all this. My husband and I are going to wait at least 3 months before trying again. Thanks for all the support.

I posted recently about my Dr pushing a c-section. I've since been given more information about the situation and have come to terms with the operation as it will be safest for my babies. Baby a has iugr, but is monitored twice a week. So now I'm 35+1 with my identical twin girls. Today my c-section was scheduled for April 2nd, when I will be 37+3.

Im having twins found out at five weeks but at that time only one had a fetal pole and hb. Now im 13weeks and both are good they're fraternal.

btw same happen with me except with only one baby. all there was was a sack and fetal pole. I went back at 8 weeks and a lil baby was beginning to form.

HI, When two gestational sacs are seen, it raises the possibility of a twin pregnancy. However it is necessary to look for fetal pole. Sometimes in very early pregnancy the early gestational sacs of the fetus will get absorbed and only a single fetus will be found on follow up scans. Hope this helps.
