Yes, that is too early to see a fetal pole or cardiac activity. In ten days, you should see a nice change with development of a little "grain of rice" with a tiny flickering heart beat. I wish you the best!
(I miscarried twins at 9 weeks about 9 months ago, so am clearly concerned. No fertility drugs, no history of twins.) I am 38 years old and have a 4 year old son. According to my doctor, I am 7 weeks pregnant. According to my 6 week u/s, there are 2 sacs, but only 1 has developed. According to my 7 week u/s, there is no change... no fetal pole or visible heartbeat. I've had some mild cramping, but no spotting or bleeding. I'm being forced to wait through the holiday weekend (pure torture) for my doctor to correlate my blood work with my ultrasound to see if my numbers are going up.
The brain contains pockets or spaces called ventricles with a spongy layer of cells and blood vessels called the choroid plexus. This is in the middle of the fetal brain. The choroid plexus has the important function of producing a fluid called cerebrospinal fluid. The fluid produced by the cells of the choroid plexus fills the ventricles and then flows around the brain and the spinal cord to provide a cushion of fluid around these structures.
I personally think it's selfish and foolish to drink during pregnancy. Your putting your baby's health at risk and fetal development during the first trimester is crucial. Any alcohol use during pregnancy can result in a child being born with FASD. To me it's not worth the risks.

m 6 weeks pregnant at the moment and i thought everything was going find until i got a call from my hospital telling me they needed to schedule me for an earlier appointment because when reviewing my ultrasounds they saw a problem with the fetus development. does anyone have any idea what this can mean? OK has anyone know of this happening seriously or it has happened to you...Your doctor,ultrasounds, fetal heart monitors ,and etc has led you to believe you were only having one baby and during labor you deliver not one but two babies ?.. How is that so easily missed during doctor visits?
It could be twins. Those numbers are very similar to what mine were. How far are your? But it might also just be one. ..
They do not have any long term studies to show the effects on fetal development. My current dr says the same thing, when pg stay clear of it as possible.
The last three visits we heard the heartbeats of the twins and were told all was normal. However today, we heard both heartbeats and they were quiet different from each other. One heartbeat was 145 per min. increased from 121 (last wednesday) and the other heartbeat was 115 per min increased from 111 (last wednesday). I am a little concerned about the 115 heart beat and how much it varies from the other one. Has anyone experienced this before? Do i have anything to be concerned about?

My doctor is the chief of maternal fetal medicine where I go. He strongly believes my baby will be fine. I suggest you get induced at 37 weeks without the test. At Worst they need a little assistance breathing but will quickly mature. I was supposed to have twins but they had ttts. I had laser surgery on my placenta. One baby passed. I think the positives outweigh the negative here.
t go as well as we all had hoped. No fetal development still at 5 weeks and 3 days with out anything present in the sac. Guess it was a blighten ovum. I had my 2nd D & C on Saturday Morning. I just wanted to get it over with and move on. So now I am waiting all the test results to see if there is any reason for all this. My husband and I are going to wait at least 3 months before trying again. Thanks for all the support.
