Avatar m tn I have noticed since I began taking fenofibrate that I experience cloudy urine after I eat certain foods. It only happens the first time I uninate after eating these foods and becomes clear thereafter. It seems that it is triggered with creamy and greasy foods. Is there cause for concern? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Fenofibrate in combination with a Statin drug can cause severe Rhabdomyolysis. I know because I have gone through it. My muscle pain got so severe that I couldn't even move my arms and I wound up in the ER with kidney (also a muscle) pain so severe, I was climbing the walls.
Avatar n tn Ever since I started taking Zetia and Fenofibrate together as recommended by my DR, I have put on pounds, am more bloated around the belly,a nd have persistent chest pains. I noticed this has occurred ever since I have been on cholesterol lowering meds, but is more noticeable in the past year with the new combination of drugs. I mentioned this to my DR and he said I need the drugs because of my High Cholesterol. What do you think?
Avatar m tn my mother,55y, she got her lab result with rising in cholesterol and triglyceride about 3month ago. she started to take fenofibrate 200mg once a day. and now new lab result show normal range of all types of fat. does she need to continue with a maintenance dose of fenofibrate or it isnt necessary?
315318 tn?1353251800 Recently , I was prescribed a fenofibrate (Trilipix 135 mg) along with Crestor. My cardio wanted this for helping in getting my triglycerides down. I have not had a lipid profile done since starting on this med two months ago. However, since being a diabetic , I check my blood glucose (BG) many times during the day and what I am noticing is a clear trend in the BG numbers going lower at least over the last month or so.

Avatar f tn My husband, 38, was diagnosed retinopathy in July 2010. He had never had an issue with his eyes/vision before, but started having "bright lights" in field of vision. He says it is like if you were to look at a bright light and look away, but that light is always there for him. He went to the retinal specialist, they did some study where they started an IV, injected something and took pictures of the back of his eye.

Avatar n tn Your numbers are high, but you need to look at the breakdown. First off, your TGL's should be under 150. Not hard, just cut out the empty carbs like breads, sugars, pastas etc. Also, drinking will elevate your TGL's so don't over do it. You could start on a Fenofibrate like Tricor to lower your TGL's it works well. A statin will not really do that much.
Avatar m tn Only Lucentis has been approved for ophthalmic use and only for AMD NOT diabetic retinopathy. Although, these drugs seem to help diabetic retinopathy patients, they have yet to be FDA approved. Unfortunately the only options available to you are to pay out of pocket for the Avastin (see if your Dr.'s office can work out a payment plan) or go with the laser.

After a series of bleeds and resulting laser surgery, she suffered a detached retina in one eye and underwent a total vitrectomy. Three days later, she could see nothing - the result, probably of an infection. She was treated with antibiotics and steroids, but her sight never fully recovered and now a fluorogram confirms that she has lost blood supply to approximately 25% of the retina.

They did not look at my eyes directly because they were not dilated. The other doctor who looked at my eyes and told me I have it did look into the eyes and also the photos. He also told me he see the retinopathy in the photos. What I remember seeing in those photos was that the blood vessels or capillaries, some of them seem very thick.

Avatar n tn You can google the warnings and side effects of that one. I also take Tricor for my hyperlipidemia. But that is a fenofibrate, not a statin. Have you ever tried the grandfather of statins, Lipitor? Talk to your doctor and get the straight answers.

Avatar m tn There is a possible eye-related complication of heavy straining such as lifting a heavy weight, prolonged coughing or sneezing, severe constipation straining, etc. It is called 'Valsalva Retinopathy' and generally is a breakage of small blood vessels in the retina. Please be aware I am NOT implying that this happened for you! But you asked whether severe constipation can cause damage, and there is a small chance that it can.

Avatar n tn If you have had diabetes for a long period of time you should get an annual diabetic retina screen to check for retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy has no symptom until damage to the eyes is severe. As diabetes86 stated, call your Optometrist.
