While you may definately need the cholestrol lowering drugs right now, chest pain, weight gain and bloating are not to be ignored. There are many good drugs on the market which may not give you such severe side effects. There are also good diets which dramatically affect your cholesterol levels. I have had very good results following the diet in the Digest Diet book, put out by Reader's Digest.

After 7 years of therapy taking Crestor and Tricor (fenofibrate), I, too, started experiencing intense pain in my legs, feet, back, and arms. My Dr. took me off Crestor last month but the pain returned within a few days, although not as intense as it was prior to my stopping Crestor. I took myself off fenofibrate just a couple of days ago and "Wow" what a difference! I can actually sleep at night and notice that the pain is dissipating more and more each day.

Once I started taking the fenofibrate, I suddenly got muscular pain, especially in my thighs and getting up a flight of stairs became difficult. I stopped taking the fenofibrate pill nearly ten days ago and the pain has subsided. My first question is: has anybody else been prescribed these medicines together and what was their experience. On the internet, there are articles which show strong interaction between these two types of lipid lowering drugs.

doctor has adviced me to take rosuvastatin and fenofibrate tablets.can you please tell me whether it helps to reduce weight?

This has been steadily rising for over 4 years. The physician has always just told him to lose weight and eight right. He does not. He heats McDonalds, Hardees, Arbys, etc. up to 3 times per day. He is scheduled to have a rotater cuff repair the 1st of December. What are the risks of operating on him without lowering these levels. By the way, his HDL and LDL cannot be calculated due to the elevated Chol. and Tri. Thanks.

His TGL in June2012 was 319 and in Dec 2012 was 370. But weight was 66.5kg .He took again fenofibrate for 1.5 months and with diet strictly avoiding sugar and low fat almost fat free . Now in March2013 the TGL level is down by about 100 points but again in the last 2.5 months there has been weight loss and wt is down to 63.8 ie about 64 kg. Weight reduced by 2 kg in such a short time again. WHY?

i am 44 yrs old female. my height is 5.6 inches and weight 87 kgs. under menopause from 1 year.recently i have gone threw all medical tests. my lipid frofile results are cholesterol : 251.0mg/dl TGL :264mg/dl HIGH hdl :62.0mg/dl ldl :136.20 mg/dl vldl :52.80 mg/dl are the levels are normal? high TGLs are due to family history.any medication necessary ?any suggestions ? iam not on medication except calcium.needs your valuable suggestions for a HEALTHY HEART. regards!

my mother,55y, she got her lab result with rising in cholesterol and triglyceride about 3month ago. she started to take fenofibrate 200mg once a day. and now new lab result show normal range of all types of fat. does she need to continue with a maintenance dose of fenofibrate or it isnt necessary?

s are easy to lower, cut back on all sugars, breads, pastas and alcohol, that usually is enough. If not, you can try a Fenofibrate which is a very effective drug.

Thanks so much again for your advice, I had the ultrasound today and I go for the results 3/22/12 I don't think I'm over weight 156 lbs and I'm 5_6 and a half tall I do not have diabetes, But I do have high triy and cholesterol with my numbers I have mention before above this do you think it very serious... I don't want to play doctor here or anything, but I was in a similar situation for several years. My apartment got broken into, then I moved home, and then my house literally got hit by lightening. I started taking lexapro for the Post-Traumatic Stress. I'd always been a bit of a snacker and stress-eater, but I a burdensome amount of weight from it. I asked my doctor about other alternatives to the Lexapro, and she suggested Welbutrin.

When I was taking Prozac I didnt gain weight.Paxcel made me gain some though.

Expect to gain weight ; that is healthy and necessary for most women, but if the gain happens too quickly you MUST Work with your OB to ensure that you are as healthy as possible. I have taken quite a bit of different antibiotics back in May. I have stopped taking it a about 3 weeks ago, maybe longer and noticed that I have a hard time gaining weight now. I have had bad anxiety and depression as well recently which may have caused my appetite to go down drastically but when it comes back I start to eat a lot and it doesn't seem like I can gain weight like I used too.

Keep in mind you could gain weight on Zoloft or any ssri, and your weight gain on Paxil has been minimal -- I gained 50 pounds over several years on it. And be careful going off it, it can be difficult. Do it slowly and carefully.

SSRIs are notorious for weight gain, but Prozac has less of a weight gain potential (compared to say Paxil). Your weight gain may be natural - over the course of 20 years. Or it may be the result of the Prozac. But 2-3 pounds per year to gain from an SSRI is not very much. I was on Lexapro for 2-3 years and gained nearly 40 pounds in that time.
