315318 tn?1353251800 I also take Crestor ( a statin), 20 mg. In addition,to these, I take insulin for diabetes, synthyroid for hypothyroidism, metaprolol and lisinopril for blood pressure, Aspirin ( 320 mg) , and Efient ( 10 mg) as blood thinners to stop any clotting in a new stent on my LAD. Once I started taking the fenofibrate, I suddenly got muscular pain, especially in my thighs and getting up a flight of stairs became difficult.
Avatar n tn After 7 years of therapy taking Crestor and Tricor (fenofibrate), I, too, started experiencing intense pain in my legs, feet, back, and arms. My Dr. took me off Crestor last month but the pain returned within a few days, although not as intense as it was prior to my stopping Crestor. I took myself off fenofibrate just a couple of days ago and "Wow" what a difference! I can actually sleep at night and notice that the pain is dissipating more and more each day.
Avatar n tn Ever since I started taking Zetia and Fenofibrate together as recommended by my DR, I have put on pounds, am more bloated around the belly,a nd have persistent chest pains. I noticed this has occurred ever since I have been on cholesterol lowering meds, but is more noticeable in the past year with the new combination of drugs. I mentioned this to my DR and he said I need the drugs because of my High Cholesterol. What do you think?
Avatar m tn It is used in combination with a diet low in cholesterol and saturated fat. Fenofibrate may also be used for purposes other than those mentioned. Fenofibrate is only part of a complete program of treatment that also includes diet, exercise, and weight control. You need to follow your diet, medication, and exercise routines very closely. Sideeffects of using fenofibrate are severe stomach pain, muscle weakness, vomiting, fever.
Avatar f tn It can also be due to fibromyalgia, electrolyte imbalance, hormonal imbalance, Vit D or Vit B12 deficiency or peripheral neuropathy of diabetes and hypothyroidism. A pinched nerve can also be the cause. Lyme’s disease is another possibility. You need investigations to rule out the above mentioned possibilities. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.

Avatar m tn s are easy to lower, cut back on all sugars, breads, pastas and alcohol, that usually is enough. If not, you can try a Fenofibrate which is a very effective drug.
Avatar n tn why can't his HDL and LDL be calculated?

Avatar m tn Tricor is a Fenofibrate which helps control cholesterol and TGLS by blocking their abosorbtion into your system through your intestinal tract. There is an extremely and I mean EXTREMELY small chance that Tricor can cause Diabetes, but it is extremely rare. How high was you fasting blood sugar level? What does your doctor say? Let us know so we can hellp provide better help.
Avatar n tn You can google the warnings and side effects of that one. I also take Tricor for my hyperlipidemia. But that is a fenofibrate, not a statin. Have you ever tried the grandfather of statins, Lipitor? Talk to your doctor and get the straight answers.
Avatar f tn Meds I am currently on are levothyroxine and fenofibrate. I was on buspirone but just quit that a few days ago. I did have this happen one other time a few weeks ago, but the second time after that everything was normal, so I wasn't worried. I believe at that time I was off the meds or just starting them.
Avatar f tn Hi I recently started taking Crestor for high Triglycerides but it was not agreeing with me. I was depress and getting pains all over my body.. My doctor put me on Lipitor , after three days, started feeling depress and started having pains in my left foot. The pains are bearable but it is if I over did exercise and it hurts constant.. My dr told me to come off the Lipitor, so what should I take.?.
955035 tn?1246539172 Hello. I am new to this site and am hopeful to learn some more about my Hashimoto's. After several years struggling with anxiety & depression issues, I was diagnosed last August with Hashimoto’s at age 30. I am relieved to know that “I’m not crazy…but my thyroid is”; however I’m still struggling. I’m beginning to wonder if my DHEA-Sulfate level (which I believe is high) may indicate something going on with my adrenal glands in addition to the Hashimoto’s.
Avatar n tn Then again in Feb 2012 his TGL was 289.He took medicine fenofibrate for about a month. His TGL in June2012 was 319 and in Dec 2012 was 370. But weight was 66.5kg .He took again fenofibrate for 1.5 months and with diet strictly avoiding sugar and low fat almost fat free . Now in March2013 the TGL level is down by about 100 points but again in the last 2.5 months there has been weight loss and wt is down to 63.8 ie about 64 kg. Weight reduced by 2 kg in such a short time again. WHY?
Avatar m tn Doctor has now advised for Thyronorm 100mcg daily one in the morning and Tab. Modlip-F (Atrovastin and fenofibrate tablet) one at night. I had undergone tests again in September after using the above tablets for 2 monts. My current readings are as follows: T3 = 0.95, T4 = 10.5, TSH = 3.10. And all my chlesterol levels are perfectly well within the limits. Now my doctor has advised to continue with Thyronorm 100mcg daily and Modlip-F on alternative days.
822804 tn?1298226302 At that level there is still no solid evidence that ties high serum TGLs and heart disease. Also, the quickest way to lower this number is to cut out empty carbs like sugars, pastas and breads. Also, if you drink stop as the alcohol will metabolized as a sugar as well. As far as meds, I also take Tricor which is a fenofibrate. Statins are not shown to be effective for reducing TGLs but Tricor works very well.
Avatar m tn 25 mg ezetrol 10mg Problem - 2 to 3 times a week I wake up in the middle of the night, short of breath, slightly elevated heart rate, Very hard beating heart and a raging pressure headache. Once awake these disappear within minutes and I fall asleep again. Any thoughts on what might be the cause?
Avatar m tn I have this problem and take a fenofibrate (Tricor) and a statin.
Avatar f tn There is no problem with taking a fenofibrate and a statin, it is perfectly safe, I take them both myself. There are possible side effects when taking a fibrate and a statin, you should ask you doctor to be sure.
