femara used for infertility

I just finished taking Clomid for three months and no pregancy. I had a lap and am going to start taking Femara to try and concieve. Hopefully this works. I am just wondering if anyone else has taken Femara and what it was like ie side effects/pregnancy?! Thanks.

I have used clomid for conception but to no avail.How else can i achieve pregnancy.

Has anyone had any luck with taking femara for unexplained infertility? I'm 29 and have been off the pill since March 2009, actively TTC since November 2009. DH's counts are normal, my tubes are open, I ovulate on my own and my uterine lining is good. RE is having me start femara this cycle (days 3-7). Has anyone had luck with taking femara (without IUI) for unexplained infertility?

Unexplained infertility for 1.5 years. I am not sure what could be the reason for my infertility , it might be endo but they didn't do a laparo for me yet. If anyone can tell me what other options do I have if Clomid failed?? So what worked for you ?

Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?

I took Femara and got pregnant when also doing injections. I had unexplained infertility. It appeared my eggs were not maturing on their own and I kept getting cysts. I am now 19 weeks pregnant. My treatment was femara, injection for 3 days, HCG shot and IUI. Your doctor will find a treatment that will work for you. Keep your hopes up. I remember choosing to not be stressed out about whether I was going to get a positive or not and it worked for me. Good Luck!!!

Yes i have used Femara three rounds, the first time I got pregnant which ended in m/c at 8wks. second round no pregnancy third round we did get pregnant but also another m/c. So we are trying this time without femara. my doctor doesnt think the femara has anything to do with the m/c and i trust him as he is a fertility specialist. they say 1 in 4 end in m/c so we will see if this is our month. i am in my 2ww.

Laproscopy can treat endometriosis temporarily for a year or 2, helping you to conceive. Femara also lately is being used to cure endometriosis. And yes, endometriosis is a cause of infertility, however it is not that bad...atleast it is cureable and not unexplained.

t find any studies that say it increases conception rates, rather it may just make you asymptomatic during the treatment time. Do you ever use Femara for fertility purposis in Endometriosis patients - even though its blacklabel for this, it seems that it would make good sense? Thanks!

Hi! I used femara for 2 cycles, after trying clomid for around a year (way too long). I did IUI on my second femara cycle, and it worked! I am now 27 weeks pregnant. I didn't really have any side effects from the femara, and I only had one mature follicle. I also used a trigger shot. I hope it works for you!!

I used it for 6 days but at around 225/300 units per day. You had mentioned that you might be doing 400 which is high. These pens are super expensive. They are about $1000- each.

We have been ttc for over 2yrs and have unexplained infertility. All of our blood work and tests and u/s are perfect. Our sperm is perfect and eggs and uterus look great. I was just looking for others that are going thru the same thing so we could support each other!!

I feel like the Goldilocks of infertility) my RE put me on 5mg of Femara (letrozole) CD 3-7 this month. Per my Clearblue Easy Fertility monitor, it's been game on with the hubs this week. The 2WW starts this weekend. Clomid side effects were awful (hot flashes, mood swings, nausea). Not too bad with Femara - just some hot flashes. I'd love to know if you have success with Femara. Treatment of endometriosis will depend on its severity. Consult an infertility expert. Do not get disheartened as treatment for infertility may take a few years to give results. Hope this helps.

it is actually a breast cancer drug and they discovered it could be used for fertility because many of these breast cancer patients were getting pregnant. Femara acts in a different way than clomid. It actually inhibits an enzyme that makes the real estrogen in your body. In this way it actually reduces the level of estrogen and like clomid this induces a cascade of events that lead to ovulation.

thanks for all ur advice,i will keep on using it till my next period,like i said abt the dischanges three days ago,i was also cramping,but dnt knw why the OPK didnt dectect it.am soo worried,cant wait for baby #2.

I am on second cycle now and had my MC on CD27 with pre-menstrual discharge on CD26. It lasted for 4days only , so how do i get to know if I actually ovulated or not ? I used OPKs on CD 10 and CD11 both in the evenings but got very faint line so cant even depend on that to know what happening in my body? Is there anyone else who has similar issues ?

I have unexplained infertility, all tests point to healthy eggs, ovaries, and I ovulate. Are you seeing an RE? I went to a gyno for 11 months and he had me on Femara. I went to an RE and was pregnant within 3 months, he increased my doesage and ordered a trigger with timed BD. Have you had an HSG?

I got pregnant on my first cycle and used femara for cd3-5 I was to take till cd 7 but it gave me bad headaches!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dont know if it helped but we were pregnant!!

I just finished my 5th cycle of clomid (waiting for af to show..got negative beta on Wed.). My lining was so thin last cycle (4.2 on day of trigger) that my RE took me off the clomid. Yes you can. I'm 23yr dx when I was 17 and am now finally pregnant with our first. Its more difficult and may require a mix and match of medication to see what works for you but no matter how long your ttc journey something will work for you. For me it was 5 rounds of clomid with a combo to metformin for the last 2 rounds. If you're like me and irregular and the clomid starts giving you regular AF take that as a huge step in the right direction.
