Femara for infertility multiples

Common Questions and Answers about Femara for infertility multiples

femara

Avatar f tn t know what goes into IVF(if egg retrieval and stimulation meds are painful etc) but if your insurance will pay 100% for it - i would go for it before you lose that coverage. i WISH i had infertility coverage. we have to pay 100% out of pocket. I just had my first IUI and it wasn't super expensive but if i have to move on to injectibles (this time i took clomid) then we're really going to have to pay. I heard one shot is like $400!
Avatar f tn I just finished taking Clomid for three months and no pregancy. I had a lap and am going to start taking Femara to try and concieve. Hopefully this works. I am just wondering if anyone else has taken Femara and what it was like ie side effects/pregnancy?! Thanks.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had any luck with taking femara for unexplained infertility? I'm 29 and have been off the pill since March 2009, actively TTC since November 2009. DH's counts are normal, my tubes are open, I ovulate on my own and my uterine lining is good. RE is having me start femara this cycle (days 3-7). Has anyone had luck with taking femara (without IUI) for unexplained infertility?
Avatar f tn I took Femara and got pregnant when also doing injections. I had unexplained infertility. It appeared my eggs were not maturing on their own and I kept getting cysts. I am now 19 weeks pregnant. My treatment was femara, injection for 3 days, HCG shot and IUI. Your doctor will find a treatment that will work for you. Keep your hopes up. I remember choosing to not be stressed out about whether I was going to get a positive or not and it worked for me. Good Luck!!!
374593 tn?1257879950 t find any studies that say it increases conception rates, rather it may just make you asymptomatic during the treatment time. Do you ever use Femara for fertility purposis in Endometriosis patients - even though its blacklabel for this, it seems that it would make good sense? Thanks!
Avatar n tn the 2 nd one with injectable meds did take...but there was a high change for multiples witht the cycle that took...Had several large follicles....1 took.... Good luck!!

Avatar n tn Hi been ttc for 18 month with no luck every ovulation test i have done in 3 months have been negative i am getting tested for endometriosis
Avatar n tn I am on 1st round of Femara, too. Today is cd21 for me and opk is finally getting close to positive. This is a long wait to o for me. On Clomid, I o'd between cd9 & 12. Oh well, hopefully the wait is worth it. I may be delayed from the cyst I had from the Clomid. It finally dissolved. Good luck!
Avatar f tn My RE gave me an Rx for the highest dosage of Femara in preperation for an IUI. We can no longer afford the IUI, but I would still like to take the Femara and try the "old fashinioned" way. I'm just wondering what to expect? I have done several rounds of Clomid and two rounds of 5mg of Femara (with one cycle ending in cysts). I had little to no side effects. Is it safe to take this highest dosage without going in for the pre-O u/s to check the follies?
866901 tn?1505506236 If you want a better bet, ask for a prescription for Femara, and also remember that you are upping your chances for multiples--they are even more pricey than IUI! Your guy could take clomid and/or Proxeed to improve his numbers, and that might do just as much good as IUI. I agree with the doc that his numbers aren't that bad though.
795248 tn?1250686616 We have been ttc for over 2yrs and have unexplained infertility. All of our blood work and tests and u/s are perfect. Our sperm is perfect and eggs and uterus look great. I was just looking for others that are going thru the same thing so we could support each other!!
422823 tn?1229736847 Does anyone know, If I get pregnant resulting from infertility drugs, is there any loop hole that the insurance could use to not have to cover it. For example, lets say I get pregnant with multiples (although that is not the goal) and they need a NICU stay. Can the insurance refuse to cover that because it is likely that the multiples are the result of fertility drugs? I am certainly not aiming for multiples, I want one healthy baby.
447077 tn?1222790570 Most on it are monitored by their doctor for this. My doctor would only let me do 3 cycles with Clomid and then would move onto Femara as Clomid can thin your uterine lining and there are studies that show limited success after three cycles. Hope that info helped.
1190279 tn?1324936257 This is way cheaper then injections only and has a lower likelihood is producing high order multiples. This is what ended up working for me when clomid and Femara alone didn't. I am now 18 weeks pregnant with my second. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Unexplained infertility for 1.5 years. I am not sure what could be the reason for my infertility , it might be endo but they didn't do a laparo for me yet. If anyone can tell me what other options do I have if Clomid failed?? So what worked for you ?
1626928 tn?1378850167 Treatment of endometriosis will depend on its severity. Consult an infertility expert. Do not get disheartened as treatment for infertility may take a few years to give results. Hope this helps.
1019279 tn?1252587122 I have unexplained infertility, all tests point to healthy eggs, ovaries, and I ovulate. Are you seeing an RE? I went to a gyno for 11 months and he had me on Femara. I went to an RE and was pregnant within 3 months, he increased my doesage and ordered a trigger with timed BD. Have you had an HSG?
Avatar f tn but it was all worth it! As far as multiples,I go for my u/s in a couple weeks, we are hoping twins but its ok if not. Do you have problems ovulating? That was my problem, I have PCOS. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have unexplained infertility, so I was given these just to increase our chances. I took the Clomid for 4 months and then the Femara for 4 months. I did ovulate, so both did what they were supposed to, there just must be another glitch that we're missing. I think the Clomid tends to produce more follicles, but it can decrease your CM and thin your lining, so I think that's why some people prefer the Femara these days.
408458 tn?1205979713 So if cost is an issue for you, you may want to consider giving the femara a try. It also has less risk of multiples than the injectibles.
629388 tn?1255480562 Hello! Thanks for the reply. I am on my 2nd IUI & also taking Femara. You are the first person I know to also take Femara. Clomid was not successful for me, it created bad cervical mucus. Anyway, I am on Femara for Cd 2-6 & then injectables (Bravelle) CD 7-10. Last month, I had 2 wonderful big follicles. I think they have found my "right recipe" so it's just a matter of everything else aligning. Let me know how your month goes.
Avatar f tn I am currently 3dpo and used femara for the first time this cycle. I did 5mg/day (two 2.5mg caps) on days 3-7. I too have wondered why there seem to be so many different days and doses, but haven't been able to find much about it. I certainly would like to know if another method - like taking the whole 5 day dose on one day - works better than others, but haven't had a chance to ask my doc yet.
458314 tn?1206259703 Laproscopy can treat endometriosis temporarily for a year or 2, helping you to conceive. Femara also lately is being used to cure endometriosis. And yes, endometriosis is a cause of infertility, however it is not that bad...atleast it is cureable and not unexplained.
Avatar f tn I am hesitant to use any fertility drugs because of the increased chance for multiples. I thought injections majorly increased the chance, right? Also, is that too extreme for my age and considering I am ovulating and have no known issues? I guess that's what I am trying to figure out. What is too extreme, but what will get me prego! Thanks for your reply!
