Avatar n tn I highly recommend the follwing resources to help you over-come this fear of driving. In my opinion they are priceless and well worth the money. If you can afford them, I would order them today so you can get your recovery on the road. They have been instrumental in my recovery and I actually keep them in the car with me, just in case. 1) The Driving Fear Program - www.drivingfear.
1074864 tn?1256932915 You are not actually fearful of driving or travelling itself, but rather the fear of losing control if you have another panic attack. This is because when we have a panic attack, the first thing we want to do is to retreat to our "safe place", which for most people is our home. The further away from our comfort zone, the more uncomfortable we feel.
Avatar n tn I too struggle with panic attacks and the fear of them returning. Have you talked to your dr about this? You might want to consider talking with a therapist. I do know that if you let the fear take over your mind it is only going to get worse. The best advice I can give you is to talk to someone and try to face the fear. Get back in your car and go for a drive even if it is only around the block. Each time you do it it will get easier. You have to take your control back.
Avatar f tn You don't have to stop driving in the uk witch I love but I think it's best to be safe so if your distracted bye baby kicking all I mean is lission to your body only you no how you feel from one day to the next be safe xxx :-)

8377023 tn?1399509160 My biggest fear out of everything is my water breaking while driving their car. I am absolutely terrified that this is going to happen. I have already gotten contractions while driving with one of the twins, thankfully the contractions weren't crazy bad, and this happened today. I dont know what to do besides calling their aunt, Chris, my mom and my doctor. Like what should I tell their aunt if that happens? To just meet me at the hospital or what?
Avatar m tn I know that if I had to stop driving I would feel so completely devastated as I live in an isolated place in the countryside in UK. For me it is the practicality of not being abel to drive and also the idea of losing my independence is my greatest fear. I am not ready to face this until it is an absolute necessity because of my family's safety..
1785438 tn?1314987935 Hi. Unfortunately this all evolves around your anxiety and you're developing Agoraphobia which will hold you prisoner in your home (safe place). Driving is a big trigger for many with panic attacks it goes along with Agoraphobia, fear of open places and fear you'll have a panic attack, the feeling of being "trapped" wherever you are.
Avatar f tn Bump
Avatar n tn I am not satisfied that the blood sugar levels are the cause of your momentary loss of consciousness. You need to get a test called an hba1c. In the United States many people with diabetes simply fib to the motor vehicles department and get a fly-by-night physician to sign their six month physical. Be very careful what you put down on the form you submit to the DMV. I am not telling you to lie, but a single episode of syncope may not be something you want to bring to their attention.
Avatar f tn t you get a dashboard camera (you could probably use your smartphone if it has enough memory). Record yourself driving. When you feel this fear, check the video and you will see that you have not hot anyone. At first, try driving for a short distance and then check the video. Then try driving a longer distance. You will be doing some self-exposure therapy and will have solid evidence that nothing bad has happened. Hang in there!
1804812 tn?1329677557 Boy, can I relate!! MANY of us can! This goes hand in hand with panic. " I am known as the "back roads" queen because I can get to just about anywhere on small streets and county roads. I always feel like I need to have a place I can pull over". Me too! LOL. I HATE highways. I explored this fear with my therapist years ago, and she explained to me that the fear stems from our basic fear of becoming "trapped" somewhere, with no option of "escape".
Avatar f tn need I say more? The fear of being stuck in traffic and suddenly needing to go is a real fear based on a real problem. Generally I prepare for trips, and if shopping, make it a focused shop. No more aimless driving. I have to have a plan and stick to it. Same in stores: meandering around in a hugh store is sure to bring on panic. So again I now plan and stick to it. One department for shoes. No checking out several stores or departments.
Avatar m tn If you are dealing with anxiety, I think it would be very beneficial for you to talk things over with a therapist. Those of us with anxiety will often latch onto a fear and we are pros at blowing things out of proportion. You're gonna be OK, OK?
Avatar m tn but every time I see one, my anxiety sky rockets. I have a fear of even driving by a used needle and thinking it could be contaminated with hepatitis b or c. its as though I fear blood from the needle will get on my car or tires and then on to me. really cant comprehend how to deal with this.
Avatar m tn Of course there is always a what if, but we also take a risk by walking down the street, driving our cars, etc. Have you ever thought of talking to a therapist about this? Health anxiety is quite common in this forum and can really take a toll on us unless we get to the bottom of it. Keep us posted!
Avatar f tn It not just driving any more it's being alone, always need someone to be with me...Feeling sad for no reason..heart racing, pain in left arm and shoulders tension and the list goes on..just want to feel better!!
Avatar n tn But I still have the fear of getting caught by HIV. My scrotum is slightly paining sometimes and I'm urinating 2 or 3 times, every hour. I'm sure my penis was well protected during sex. Only doubt is the cut finger.
Avatar m tn I am a 34 year old man suffering from a terrible phobia of not being able to get to a toilet. I am worried that i am going to soil myself. When i am able to use the toilet i dont need to but when i am in a situation where i cant get to a toilet i become desperate and have a major panic attack. It physically feels like i am going to mess myself. This has been going on for 20 years now and i have seen child doctors and hypnotherapists.
Avatar n tn Hey everyone. I am having my first child (little girl !) and I can't seem to escape people putting fears in my head. Like yesterday I had someone tell me cause the past couple of days my babe wasn't too active but now she is they decided to tell me my baby might be dying. That really broke my heart. My family is known for having really healthy babies so I think I will too but everyone still likes to tell me stuff that puts fear in my mind. Anyone have advice to help me clear my head?
Avatar f tn i remember in that class i driving over cones and all kinds of dumb things!! Our DE class was not through the school it some other place and you had to pay 300$$ to go I had to get a job and save for it!!
Avatar f tn Fear is a common symptom of anxiety and depression. Almost always one of the predominate ones. Our nervous systems are 'out of wack' and we feel unstable as a result. Few people really appreciate their nervous system and it's complexities. You should discuss this symptom with your doctor and see what he can do.
