Avatar n tn I highly recommend the follwing resources to help you over-come this fear of driving. In my opinion they are priceless and well worth the money. If you can afford them, I would order them today so you can get your recovery on the road. They have been instrumental in my recovery and I actually keep them in the car with me, just in case. 1) The Driving Fear Program - www.drivingfear.
1074864 tn?1256932915 You are not actually fearful of driving or travelling itself, but rather the fear of losing control if you have another panic attack. This is because when we have a panic attack, the first thing we want to do is to retreat to our "safe place", which for most people is our home. The further away from our comfort zone, the more uncomfortable we feel.
Avatar m tn i do not recognize the virus itself as the big hazard we fear if the predicted damage is not occurring. Monetary cost of this course of treatment is $100.00 to $150.00 per treatment (materials only). My insurance will not pay for said materials but they do pay 80% of each visit to the naturpath. To learn more check out Dr Mark Berkson of Las Cruzes New Mexico. Pretty easy to find on a google search.
Avatar f tn Hi I'm sorry you are going through this. I think the fear can be changed. I used to fear having a panic attack while driving. What helped me was to listen to my favorite music, even a favorite song until I got to work. I slowly realized that it was just a fear, wasn't a fact and was able to deal with it. I also hyperventilated so read that if you have ice water with you, drinking it of course, you can't hyperventilated. The Community Leader who is normally here is on vacation.
Avatar n tn I too struggle with panic attacks and the fear of them returning. Have you talked to your dr about this? You might want to consider talking with a therapist. I do know that if you let the fear take over your mind it is only going to get worse. The best advice I can give you is to talk to someone and try to face the fear. Get back in your car and go for a drive even if it is only around the block. Each time you do it it will get easier. You have to take your control back.

8377023 tn?1399509160 My biggest fear out of everything is my water breaking while driving their car. I am absolutely terrified that this is going to happen. I have already gotten contractions while driving with one of the twins, thankfully the contractions weren't crazy bad, and this happened today. I dont know what to do besides calling their aunt, Chris, my mom and my doctor. Like what should I tell their aunt if that happens? To just meet me at the hospital or what?
1785438 tn?1314987935 Hi. Unfortunately this all evolves around your anxiety and you're developing Agoraphobia which will hold you prisoner in your home (safe place). Driving is a big trigger for many with panic attacks it goes along with Agoraphobia, fear of open places and fear you'll have a panic attack, the feeling of being "trapped" wherever you are.

Avatar n tn Hi HamiltonM, I posted a comment about 6 years ago about fear of driving in curves. Especially curves ciming downhill. I feel my car will tilt over. I noted your comment about similar symptoms. I haven't been in this chat room since then...anyway I wanted to know if anything helped your situation?
Avatar f tn t you get a dashboard camera (you could probably use your smartphone if it has enough memory). Record yourself driving. When you feel this fear, check the video and you will see that you have not hot anyone. At first, try driving for a short distance and then check the video. Then try driving a longer distance. You will be doing some self-exposure therapy and will have solid evidence that nothing bad has happened. Hang in there!
1804812 tn?1329677557 Boy, can I relate!! MANY of us can! This goes hand in hand with panic. " I am known as the "back roads" queen because I can get to just about anywhere on small streets and county roads. I always feel like I need to have a place I can pull over". Me too! LOL. I HATE highways. I explored this fear with my therapist years ago, and she explained to me that the fear stems from our basic fear of becoming "trapped" somewhere, with no option of "escape".
Avatar f tn need I say more? The fear of being stuck in traffic and suddenly needing to go is a real fear based on a real problem. Generally I prepare for trips, and if shopping, make it a focused shop. No more aimless driving. I have to have a plan and stick to it. Same in stores: meandering around in a hugh store is sure to bring on panic. So again I now plan and stick to it. One department for shoes. No checking out several stores or departments.
3997096 tn?1349317861 Kinda caused me to have a fear of driving. Pretty weird. I still have a slight fear of driving. I live fairly close to Chicago and have never had a fear of driving through there as many people do who don't live there, but haven't been able to do it since eot. Hopefully one day I will get over this fear.
Avatar m tn If you are dealing with anxiety, I think it would be very beneficial for you to talk things over with a therapist. Those of us with anxiety will often latch onto a fear and we are pros at blowing things out of proportion. You're gonna be OK, OK?
Avatar m tn There is a wide range of severity of pulmonary sarcoid, based on radiologic (Chest X-ray and CT Scanning of lungs) and physiologic parameters. The extent and prognostic significance of radiograph abnormalities is the basis for conventional Staging of Disease (stages 0-IV). These stages do not correspond to the chronologic progression of disease, but do correlate with likelihood of future radiographic and symptomatic disease resolution.
Avatar m tn but every time I see one, my anxiety sky rockets. I have a fear of even driving by a used needle and thinking it could be contaminated with hepatitis b or c. its as though I fear blood from the needle will get on my car or tires and then on to me. really cant comprehend how to deal with this.
Avatar m tn Of course there is always a what if, but we also take a risk by walking down the street, driving our cars, etc. Have you ever thought of talking to a therapist about this? Health anxiety is quite common in this forum and can really take a toll on us unless we get to the bottom of it. Keep us posted!
Avatar f tn When I was 15 I had my first panic attack, not long after I developed eye floaters, then I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I quit driving bc of the fibro I was so weak. But now that I have it under control I'm 26 and still can't drive. As a passenger when we come to a red-light or any stop allot of the time the road looks as if it's still moving. I have always assumed it was anxiety.
Avatar n tn I have had this for about 5 months now and it is driving me mad, the head of my penis is all wrinkly and dry, theres loads of little slits, especially noticebal in one area, in a kind of ring. I'm ashamed to have sex because when erect it looks all bumpy and horrible, almost deformed. I've also noticed lately that its very shiny aswell which I thought was a bit weird. There is also a constant clear discharge and my hole penis feels sore.
Avatar f tn It not just driving any more it's being alone, always need someone to be with me...Feeling sad for no reason..heart racing, pain in left arm and shoulders tension and the list goes on..just want to feel better!!
358304 tn?1409709492 H1N1 is getting a lot of attention in the media, but remember the VAST majority of people that contract it, get over it just like the seasonal flu. Once you have the flu, vaccines are ineffective because it is prophylaxis (preventing it), but doctors can prescribe antivirals like Tamiflu and Relenza for treatment to help with recovery with both the seasonal and swine flu.
