Avatar f tn Wow this forum is really helping me, it's shocking to hear so many similar stories and experiences, When I was young I had a permit to drive with a licensed driver, I lost control of a vehicle when I hesitated in an intersection in the poring rain I slammed on the breaks in fear of not making a yellow light, I didn't cause an accident and nobody got hurt but I ended up across the street very close to a gas station pump which has scared me deeply, I was 18 and have not driven since
Avatar m tn t have an accident, i feel confidence in my driving skills. maybe for someone who has no fear of diseases, its the same way. maybe they get a wave of fear, and then get over it. maybe we should try to rationalize our fears & doubts, instead of trying to run away from situations that cause anxiety, try to face them and deal with them. and trust in god in every situation.
Avatar n tn I highly recommend the follwing resources to help you over-come this fear of driving. In my opinion they are priceless and well worth the money. If you can afford them, I would order them today so you can get your recovery on the road. They have been instrumental in my recovery and I actually keep them in the car with me, just in case. 1) The Driving Fear Program - www.drivingfear.
1532322 tn?1292178743 Driving on ice and snow makes us all nervous, but after having an accident, I can understand your fear. I would start out by driving short distances, and keep increasing how far you go. Take someone with you for comfort in the beginning. But it's best to stay home if you don't have to be out. I gained a whole new respect for how unforgiving ice is when I had an accident due to it. But since you are having panic attacks from your accident, you should seek therapy for this.
Avatar f tn s all, When I started having fainting spells I stopped driving for fear of getting into an accident or causing one so keep doing what you do sometimes men don't know
Avatar n tn Hi HamiltonM, I posted a comment about 6 years ago about fear of driving in curves. Especially curves ciming downhill. I feel my car will tilt over. I noted your comment about similar symptoms. I haven't been in this chat room since then...anyway I wanted to know if anything helped your situation?
Avatar f tn I haven't always had a fear of snow or ice driving until the recent past few years. If I am not in the driver's seat, I can't control the anxiety. If I am in the driver's seat, it's much, much worse. My panic starts the minute we start moving.
Avatar m tn of the movie -**SPOILER ALERT**- is that Christian Bale ran over a young child with his car and fled the scene. Because of his guilt, he has blocked the accident out of his memory, and the plot revolves around him eventually piecing the evidence together and realizing the awful truth. I cannot tell you how badly I wish I had never seen this movie.
Avatar f tn Good day cmd23, 6 years ago I was involved in horrible car accident and my right leg was fractured. After that incident, i cant drive car for 3 years due to trauma and anxiety. I cant sleep whenever im on the road. Now i can drive again but whenever someone honk at me, i'll get anxiety a lil bit. Few years ago, anxiety was my best friend. At that time, i realize that my only fear is death. In order to get rid of anxiety, i convince myself that every living thing will die.
8216878 tn?1403882912 My mom keeps trying to tell me I won't be able to drive. I plan on driving to and from the hospital and I will have to take my bf to and from work after. Anyone have any experience. I know I'll be sore but I think I'll be able to drive.
637722 tn?1245086059 I can drive in most situations now but it seems, as I get older the fear of winter driving gets worse. I know why I feel the way I do; it is the fear of ‘being out of control’. When I know there is something between my tires and the road that can cause me to slide I get the ‘panicky’ feeling. I have been in counseling for depression (because my son was addicted to heroin) and the subject of driving in the snow/ice was addressed but not to the point that I am over it.
Avatar m tn I have a huge fear of driving and being a passenger in the car! It started out of the blue about a year and a hald ago! Nothing happened to bring it on it just happened! Its awful as I drive 60 miles every day for work! I have panic attacks along with it some days and have to pull over! My psychiatrist put me on Ativan that I take before driving to and from work or when I am getting into someone elses car and it seems to help al ittle bit. I am also on Effexor....
1340042 tn?1276031178 ve never experienced these palpitations before, I would chalk it up to nerves, extra adrenaline flowing with the subconscious feelings of fear when going back to driving. I have occasional arrythmia (aifib) and 3 yrs ago I also had a head-on collision on an icy road late at night. I was in the hospital for 10 days, a couple of broken bones and bruising from airbags, seatbelt, etc.
Avatar f tn I get nervous just being in the car with my hubby much less actually driving myself.
1785438 tn?1314987935 Hi. Unfortunately this all evolves around your anxiety and you're developing Agoraphobia which will hold you prisoner in your home (safe place). Driving is a big trigger for many with panic attacks it goes along with Agoraphobia, fear of open places and fear you'll have a panic attack, the feeling of being "trapped" wherever you are.
510814 tn?1213264975 Thank you to all who responded. I hope to get over my fear of driving. I can handle driving around the corner by myself to the store or gas station, but I have a hard time thinking I can just get in the car and go! It's not just that, either....I had a panic attack the day we bought a new car and I was in the passenger seat while my husband was driving. So, being in a car in general scares me.
11725633 tn?1424448445 Its okay for pregnant women to drive.... I know pregnant women have a 30% more chance of getting in a car accident than someone who isn't pregnant though. I drive a half hour to and from work everyday.
598974 tn?1221675462 I am fine driving around town and dont ever have these problems. It kind of seems like in the beginning of the episodes of starwars when they are flying through space and all the stars are passing by really fast but you can still see right in front of you very clearly?. I know that seems wierd but that is one of the feelings I get. I also just feel like passing out? It is really scaring me and I dont know what to do. Please Help me.
Avatar f tn Memory and concentration may become poor in few people. They may feel stressful to go out or swim for the fear of having a seizure. Taking medications daily and if they are told not to drive can affect them a lot. It is important to cope up with the condition and accept it. Take your medications regularly. Exercise daily and have a balanced diet. This will increase your energy levels and boost your immune system which reduces risk of seizures. Do write to me again. Best luck and regards!
Avatar m tn t figure out why, but my personal fitness trainer at the time told me something to the conclusion of,when your driving gravity is against you and it is more work on the heart to be driving a car that sitting in a chair. stopped driving for over a yr. I wear a heart monitor now, and sometimes my heart goes off, without warning and pull over. Or I don't drive at all.
907729 tn?1244174363 I had a defibrillator put in back in Decemeber and I have 7 stents as well. I was told by someone that I shouldn't be driving and that if I am in an accident due to my defibrillator going off my insurance company wouldn't cover me...does anyone know if either of these are true? Like to find out now before something might happen.
1074864 tn?1256932915 You are not actually fearful of driving or travelling itself, but rather the fear of losing control if you have another panic attack. This is because when we have a panic attack, the first thing we want to do is to retreat to our "safe place", which for most people is our home. The further away from our comfort zone, the more uncomfortable we feel.
Avatar f tn Your fine. And I have no idea where you guys are getting 6 weeks after c-section to drive. My docs always told me 2 weeks after my c-section, and I was driving after 7 days or so. You will be fine driving, don't stress.
Avatar f tn ve heard you arent supposed to drive after 8months after i got done driving couldi go into labor b/c im having pressure pushed down on my pelvic area since i got out of the car
8377023 tn?1399509160 My biggest fear out of everything is my water breaking while driving their car. I am absolutely terrified that this is going to happen. I have already gotten contractions while driving with one of the twins, thankfully the contractions weren't crazy bad, and this happened today. I dont know what to do besides calling their aunt, Chris, my mom and my doctor. Like what should I tell their aunt if that happens? To just meet me at the hospital or what?
800427 tn?1324945719 s (DF) parents for dinner when we were driving by the mall and stopped at a stop light...there was a ton of traffic it being the last weekend before christmas and everything so it was really stop and go even at the lights. so when the light turned green people were still stopped in front of us and right when we were about to go..BAM some guy smashed right into the back of us and it caused a huge jolt. all i could think about automatically was the baby and i started crying almost right away...
Avatar f tn Can I drive myself home after I get out of the hospital? That's really my only choice at the moment.
