Avatar f tn Wow this forum is really helping me, it's shocking to hear so many similar stories and experiences, When I was young I had a permit to drive with a licensed driver, I lost control of a vehicle when I hesitated in an intersection in the poring rain I slammed on the breaks in fear of not making a yellow light, I didn't cause an accident and nobody got hurt but I ended up across the street very close to a gas station pump which has scared me deeply, I was 18 and have not driven since
Avatar m tn t have an accident, i feel confidence in my driving skills. maybe for someone who has no fear of diseases, its the same way. maybe they get a wave of fear, and then get over it. maybe we should try to rationalize our fears & doubts, instead of trying to run away from situations that cause anxiety, try to face them and deal with them. and trust in god in every situation.
Avatar n tn I have the worst driving anxiety. It started a few years ago, then I had no idea what was happening, it was a weird rush that would come over me, hands tingling, head numbing, dizziness and panic. I have been in a few accidents, but I really don't believe that is the reason for it, I don't fear an accident, I could really give a **** anymore who hits me since I've been hit several times It's just Fear. I am not scared of much but this really freaks me out.
1532322 tn?1292178743 Driving on ice and snow makes us all nervous, but after having an accident, I can understand your fear. I would start out by driving short distances, and keep increasing how far you go. Take someone with you for comfort in the beginning. But it's best to stay home if you don't have to be out. I gained a whole new respect for how unforgiving ice is when I had an accident due to it. But since you are having panic attacks from your accident, you should seek therapy for this.
Avatar f tn s all, When I started having fainting spells I stopped driving for fear of getting into an accident or causing one so keep doing what you do sometimes men don't know
Avatar n tn When driving in curves on freeway or back roads i feel as if my car will tilt and fall on its side causing an accident. I often times slow down to 35 mph or less, driving closer to the shoulder or worse pulling over to compose myself and then continue to drive again. I am fine with the straight parts of the road. Its worse when the curve is bent towards the middle of the road ( where I have only the dividing line separating lanes). I told my Dr.
Avatar f tn I haven't always had a fear of snow or ice driving until the recent past few years. If I am not in the driver's seat, I can't control the anxiety. If I am in the driver's seat, it's much, much worse. My panic starts the minute we start moving.
Avatar m tn Immediately after watching I began to question my own driving history, which thank goodness has never included an accident (I have only scraped a couple cars against a fence, tapped a bumper while parking, etc.) But how could I be SURE that I had never hit a pedestrian?? In my mind, I am a cautious and alert driver. But I began doubting my own memory and self-confidence.
Avatar f tn Ive even started having nightmares about driving at night on an empty rode and hitting a deer. Im also scared to drive in the rain. Sorry for the long post, any help would be appriciated!
8216878 tn?1403882912 My mom keeps trying to tell me I won't be able to drive. I plan on driving to and from the hospital and I will have to take my bf to and from work after. Anyone have any experience. I know I'll be sore but I think I'll be able to drive.
Avatar m tn Almost caused an accident. After it got real close to an accident, my adrenaline woke me up. It literally came out of no where. never, ever happened before. I am not that over weight and I am on a very healthy diet. I don't think it is sleep apnea, since it is not every day. I drink 2 cups of coffee in the morning out of fear of this. Tends to happen in afternoons. I eat extremely healthy, so it is not from heavy eating. yeah I exercise. I am a 36 year old male.
637722 tn?1245086059 I can drive in most situations now but it seems, as I get older the fear of winter driving gets worse. I know why I feel the way I do; it is the fear of ‘being out of control’. When I know there is something between my tires and the road that can cause me to slide I get the ‘panicky’ feeling. I have been in counseling for depression (because my son was addicted to heroin) and the subject of driving in the snow/ice was addressed but not to the point that I am over it.
1340042 tn?1276031178 ve never experienced these palpitations before, I would chalk it up to nerves, extra adrenaline flowing with the subconscious feelings of fear when going back to driving. I have occasional arrythmia (aifib) and 3 yrs ago I also had a head-on collision on an icy road late at night. I was in the hospital for 10 days, a couple of broken bones and bruising from airbags, seatbelt, etc.
1785438 tn?1314987935 Hi. Unfortunately this all evolves around your anxiety and you're developing Agoraphobia which will hold you prisoner in your home (safe place). Driving is a big trigger for many with panic attacks it goes along with Agoraphobia, fear of open places and fear you'll have a panic attack, the feeling of being "trapped" wherever you are.
510814 tn?1213264975 Thank you to all who responded. I hope to get over my fear of driving. I can handle driving around the corner by myself to the store or gas station, but I have a hard time thinking I can just get in the car and go! It's not just that, either....I had a panic attack the day we bought a new car and I was in the passenger seat while my husband was driving. So, being in a car in general scares me.
598974 tn?1221675462 I have three children and cannot drive with them anymore in fear I will get in an accident with them on long road trips. I just dont understand what is going on? I am 26 and have good vision as far as I know. I have never had problems with this before and have never been in an accident. I am fine driving around town and dont ever have these problems.
11725633 tn?1424448445 t drive because if we get in an accident the baby will be hit by the steering wheel. That is just a fear he has I guess.
Avatar m tn I too had SVT among other things and got it fixed thu an ablation but my fear would be whether driving, at home, at work...what happens if you go down and there is no one there to help you? This goes far beyond a monitor alerting you that it is about to happen...and then what? Oh heck no time to get proactive and get a doc that cares if you live or die...post where you live and maybe a community member can make a recommendation of a good doc that they use......
907729 tn?1244174363 I had a defibrillator put in back in Decemeber and I have 7 stents as well. I was told by someone that I shouldn't be driving and that if I am in an accident due to my defibrillator going off my insurance company wouldn't cover me...does anyone know if either of these are true? Like to find out now before something might happen.
Avatar f tn Memory and concentration may become poor in few people. They may feel stressful to go out or swim for the fear of having a seizure. Taking medications daily and if they are told not to drive can affect them a lot. It is important to cope up with the condition and accept it. Take your medications regularly. Exercise daily and have a balanced diet. This will increase your energy levels and boost your immune system which reduces risk of seizures. Do write to me again. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn Your fine. And I have no idea where you guys are getting 6 weeks after c-section to drive. My docs always told me 2 weeks after my c-section, and I was driving after 7 days or so. You will be fine driving, don't stress.
1074864 tn?1256932915 You are not actually fearful of driving or travelling itself, but rather the fear of losing control if you have another panic attack. This is because when we have a panic attack, the first thing we want to do is to retreat to our "safe place", which for most people is our home. The further away from our comfort zone, the more uncomfortable we feel.
Avatar f tn t want you driving that late is your stomach is so close to the steering wheel if you were to get in an accident it could be harmful. Also if yku are driving and suddenly your water breaks or yo u have a bad contraction it could cause you to loose focus and cause an accident.
Avatar f tn I get nervous just being in the car with my hubby much less actually driving myself.
Avatar f tn Was wondering the same as I live 6 minutes away. I prefer to be alone...including delivery.
