fainting spells low blood pressure

Treated with 3 different meds (HCTZ, Avapro and Atenolol), suddenly, approximately 4 weeks ago I began getting dizzy spells quite frequently. My pressure during these spells is quite low, often 90/60 or a bit lower. The doc has done CT scan, no brain tumor, blood work, nothing remarkable, urinalysis, nada, she keeps throwing things like Lupus, Parkinson's, ALS at me and now I am terrified! Wouldn't the blood work eliminate some if not all of these diseases.

My doctor also said it was low blood pressure but it never made any sense to me because my blood pressure, which is normally very low was always Higher during pregnancy. Regardless, Fainting and feeling dizzy is usually normal but trust your instincts, if you think it is something more stress your concern and talk to your doc again.

I used to have High blood pressure and within the last few months it has been low, maybe the cause of the fainting spells. I also have hypothyroidism that the doctor is having trouble controlling. I was diagnosed with mild MVP many years ago. My concern is that I'm noticing the arrythmias more and more frequently and they have changed over the past few months....first heaving rapid pounding, then fluttering with some shortness of breath, now flip flopping.

If you are concerned, you can always add more salt to your diet, drink more water, and ask the doc for some tests to see how your adrenal glands are functioning, if they are over-worked, sometimes you will have low blood pressure.

With both my first and second pregnancy i had very low blood pressure which caused the dizzy spells! My doc wasnt concerned he said a low blood pressure is much better then a high one and low blood pressure in pregnancy is not uncommon!! Now if it gets to low and ur fainting i would be concerned and head to the docs or Er asap!!! Hope this helps!!! Good luck!

Hello patient915 , No bleeding before or after the fainting. Both times just stood up, took a couple of steps and went down. When I fainted first in November the doctor said it could be do to my medication for HBP. I decided to lose some weight to try to get off. In January I fainted again. This time I fractured my leg and tore my ACL requiring surgery.(Surgery was in April.) Doctor still wasn't concerned with the fainting.

They usually happen once every few months, shortly after I eat, i have checked blood sugar, its not that, blood pressure is perfect but I have a low pulse rate. I need to know if anyone else has experienced this and what they found out. I just dont know if its cardiac or anxiety. help!

Anyone having issues with low blood pressure??? Mine was really low yesterday causing me to black out at Wall*Mart. I'm 36w&&3d its been getting more and more frequent the light headedness, tunnel vision, tingles every where. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing?? And what their Dr/MW is doing to fix it.

You can ask for ambulatory (24 hour) blood pressure monitoring as a test for this, or you can get your own cuff at home and check up on your blood pressures before, during, and after meals and show your doctor if you do indeed have a drop in blood pressure that correlates with your dizziness and fainting spells after eating. If you are having syncope at times other than just after eating, tilt table testing may also be warranted.

maybe low blood sugar or change in blood pressure causing dizziness?? Back a few months ago I woke up in the night with severe dizziness and vomiting everywhere for several hours straight but it was due to something I ate...

I'm the same, I get terrible fainting spells during pregnancy. I know its not low blood pressure because I've had preeclamplsia through both pregnancies but interestingly my iron levels have been really low particularly this pregnancy. I had an iron infusion last week and haven't fainted since. Maybe get your iron checked?

Im 20 weeks and am having bits of light headedness and dizziness.

Your blood pressure is low. Systolic blood pressure can drop while you stand up, but diastolic pressure should increase. I can't explain this, and I can't say if it's somehow related to your arrhythmias. It may be, and it may not be. Again, this is something you should ask an experienced cardiologist. Your life is far too valuable for this. Get clear answers from an experienced doctor. Now. Good luck!

Im impatient and have only had it a few days and wondering if i made the right decision seeing as how im not even sure anymore about what the hell has been causing my fainting spells since it doesnt happen all the time and my low blood pressure isnt that low it ranges from 105/61 to 120/63

s your blood pressure! When pregnant your blood pressure is lowered which can make you feel dizzy and faint! Try stand up slowly etc and make sure you drink lots an keep blood sugar up!

ve always had low normal blood pressure (say 90/60). Over the years I had gotten used to being careful when I would stand up, making sure I didn't get dehydrated, liberal with the salt etc. It had all been getting worse over the last couple of years but I had assumed I needed to get my thyroid checked and wasn't too worried, that is until the pvcs came on so strong over a weekend when I felt like I couldn't even get out of bed.

I do get dizzy spells but not fainting at all, from what I understand those that faint is because their blood pressure goes too low?? I could be wrong on that one, in my case my blood pressure raises really high, I assumed this is why I don't faint. Sometimes my dizzy spells are so bad that I get dizzy while sleeping and that wakes me up. Not sure if I helped with your question though...

Most doctors do not treat low blood pressure unless you are symptomatic, which you are. 85/40 is too low for most people, while some can function at those levels. The fact that feel weak and dizzy would make me want to find out what the underlying cause is for your low blood pressure. From what you describe, there is a possibility you were ill. There are some meds that can cause low BP, are you on any prescription meds? In any case, I would work with my doctor to see what's going on.
