Avatar n tn Hello patient915 , No bleeding before or after the fainting. Both times just stood up, took a couple of steps and went down. When I fainted first in November the doctor said it could be do to my medication for HBP. I decided to lose some weight to try to get off. In January I fainted again. This time I fractured my leg and tore my ACL requiring surgery.(Surgery was in April.) Doctor still wasn't concerned with the fainting.
1384238 tn?1286028762 I have had high blood pressure for 15 yrs. Treated with 3 different meds (HCTZ, Avapro and Atenolol), suddenly, approximately 4 weeks ago I began getting dizzy spells quite frequently. My pressure during these spells is quite low, often 90/60 or a bit lower. The doc has done CT scan, no brain tumor, blood work, nothing remarkable, urinalysis, nada, she keeps throwing things like Lupus, Parkinson's, ALS at me and now I am terrified!
364288 tn?1300144506 My doctor also said it was low blood pressure but it never made any sense to me because my blood pressure, which is normally very low was always Higher during pregnancy. Regardless, Fainting and feeling dizzy is usually normal but trust your instincts, if you think it is something more stress your concern and talk to your doc again.
Avatar n tn You can ask for ambulatory (24 hour) blood pressure monitoring as a test for this, or you can get your own cuff at home and check up on your blood pressures before, during, and after meals and show your doctor if you do indeed have a drop in blood pressure that correlates with your dizziness and fainting spells after eating. If you are having syncope at times other than just after eating, tilt table testing may also be warranted.
Avatar f tn bcoz of low blood pressure . you need to eat very well and keep your self hydrated, and see the doctor for safe side. hope this help.
Avatar n tn s hard-bound marble notebook and purchase a GOOD blood pressure cuff and a GOOD pulse oximeter. Have your daughter log her blood pressure, heart rate, and readings on the pulse oximeter several times a day at the same time, and especially if she is feeling weak, or having a "change in mentation. The variations in the heart-rate concern me. "Slowing in the left temporal lobe" does not define epilepsy. Siezures define epilepsy.
1265236 tn?1270066926 I used to have High blood pressure and within the last few months it has been low, maybe the cause of the fainting spells. I also have hypothyroidism that the doctor is having trouble controlling. I was diagnosed with mild MVP many years ago. My concern is that I'm noticing the arrythmias more and more frequently and they have changed over the past few months....first heaving rapid pounding, then fluttering with some shortness of breath, now flip flopping.
1690772 tn?1325629867 I am trying to find out if my blood pressure is normal, it is systolic 98 diastolic 64 pulse 53
Avatar f tn I do get dizzy spells but not fainting at all, from what I understand those that faint is because their blood pressure goes too low?? I could be wrong on that one, in my case my blood pressure raises really high, I assumed this is why I don't faint. Sometimes my dizzy spells are so bad that I get dizzy while sleeping and that wakes me up. Not sure if I helped with your question though...
Avatar n tn Hello Dear, Dizzinesss may happen when there is not enough blood getting to the brain. Avatar n tn Side effects for Verapamil include dizziness, fainting, and fatigue. I'd suggest checking back with your doctor for a discussion of this medication.
Avatar f tn Hi, Since your BP is now under control and blood tests and ear exam is good, the chances are that dizzy spells are due to low blood sugar, sudden fall in BP or due to dehydration. Please make sure to eat on time to avoid low blood glucose levels and drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and always take your BP medication around the same time everyday to prevent a day to day variation. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn I had one the other day. Not sure if it will happen again. But i heard once uou faint it will happen again. When i fainted theyncalled 911.
Avatar f tn , have taken thyroid medication since I was 12, have high blood pressure. For years I will occassionally get these mild blackout spells. I don't completely blackout, but things go sort of gray, I get a tingling in my right arm, my body feels weak and heavy, I get heartburn or stomach pain with these. Taking one Aspirin helps. My blood pressure sometimes is high and sometimes is low when these "spells" come on. They do see to happen more when I am under stress or worrying.
Avatar f tn Certain internal ear problems can also affect blood pressure monitoring by the body by not properly signaling a change in position. Blood pressure monitoring, tilt table test, EKG, heart echo, ambulatory blood pressure recording are all required for diagnosis. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
Avatar n tn i have suffered from anxiety and i am now on Effexor Rx. The fainting spells have been happening even before i started taking this medication.
Avatar m tn ve never returned to use of the drug, and I have had very few fainting spells since having children--I guess they raised my Blood Pressure :-). Anyway...my experience with beta blockers is not promising. While SOME people experiencing NCS do well on these drugs, many of us find that our fainting spells are INCREASED by the drugs. See, Beta Blockers are meant to lower the blood pressure and heart rate.
Avatar f tn I have had two fainting spells over the past 5 years where my hands and feet start to tingle before it happens as well as the feeling I have to frequently blinkand my neck feels like it needs to crack, it happened once when I was driving, I pulled over thank god.. After it happens I also have ringing in my ears and sort of the feeling in my head that I was hit with a bat. I have noticed it comes when I have high anxiety or stress.

Avatar f tn If I had to make an educated guess for you, the fainting happened because of the sudden change of position and drop of blood pressure. Have you had other incidents of this or is this a one time thing? Anyway, welcome again and I hope you stick around and join us in the fun and education!
Avatar f tn m not very up on seizures), but what you describe sounds like something is causing you to tank your blood pressure fairly often. If your blood pressure drops enough, you don't get enough blood to your head and you start feeling faint and can pass out. Lying down helps this because it lets gravity pull the blood back to your head, and you feel better.
8582080 tn?1436383174 maybe low blood sugar or change in blood pressure causing dizziness?? Back a few months ago I woke up in the night with severe dizziness and vomiting everywhere for several hours straight but it was due to something I ate...
Avatar f tn I would suggest before you get up from a sitting position to dangle your legs for a bit relax and slowly get up. We have different blood pressure readings in different positions. . Sometimes when we rise from a sitting position to a standing position we may have orthostatic hypotension..
10777943 tn?1412955415 I'm the same, I get terrible fainting spells during pregnancy. I know its not low blood pressure because I've had preeclamplsia through both pregnancies but interestingly my iron levels have been really low particularly this pregnancy. I had an iron infusion last week and haven't fainted since. Maybe get your iron checked?
Avatar n tn medications, in general are appropriate onloy when the blood pressure is consistently high. A medication that is appropriate when the blood poressure is 190/100 may increase the chances of death when the blood pressure drops. With blood pressure the decision is whether or not the pressure changes are compensatory (reacting to body needs) or idiopathic (of unknown etiology). Sometimes it's six of one and a half dozen of the other.
