Common Questions and Answers about Fainting high risk

fainting

Avatar m tn EKG was normal, and ER said blood work was fie, but according to lab results his MCH is high (30.4), MCHC is high (35.7), RDW is low (12.0), and basophil % is high (1.3). What does this mean?
492869 tn?1285018933 I use it around the house mainly when transitioning to and from the bathroom (for various reasons a high-risk time for syncope for me), when washing up at the sink to sit instead of standing still for that extended period of time, in public anywhere where there may be situations where I will need to stand in line or be on my feet for prolonged periods of time, etc.
Avatar f tn So last night I went to the er with ongoing severe hip pain . (Not pregnancy related ) well I told them how Sunday I blacked out and they did blood work I have low potassium And they thought I had a blood clot but my levels were high ... So does that mean I'm at risk to get one ?
Avatar n tn Did they test his glucose again while in ER? What scans were performed? Are you in area where there is high heat? If yes, was he well hydrated prior to going outside? I would schedule a visit with a doctor for a full health examination which should include stress testing [heart], and an A1c test to see how well he is controlling his glucose levels.
Avatar n tn Hmm, this is certainly a different question! I tend to agree with them about not approving your placement until the cause is known. Sorry! :-) If you were helping a patient, for instance, transfer from the bed to a wheelchair and then fainted in the middle of it, the patient could get hurt. You don't say exactly how often it happens but if you can't prevent ALL of the fainting, then it could be a risk. And btw, I have been an RN since 1970 (ack!
Avatar n tn Cold chills can come from having the flu, or perhaps in your case with the fainting, could be something as simple as you not having enough protein to eat on a regular basis. Protein is like the wood in a fire, it burns and heats up a person. And if you ain't got no fire, you'll get cold. In addition, protein gives you energy, and if you don't have any, you can get pretty weak and light-headed. But there are many reasons why this happened to you, those are just my top two choices.
Avatar n tn I agree with margypops, it may be your blood sugar being too low or too high. Also, your blood pressure could be a problem best to check it out soon with your doctor.
Avatar m tn I am heart patient, CABG was done November 1996 with four grafts. My blood pressure...high 110/80 and low 85/55. What should be the blood pressure reading for me that I must maintain ...I am 62 years old.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with vasovagel syncope which is a fainting when your blood pressure lowers. This fainting seems to occur more often when I am flying in a plane. How can I avoid this"? Is the pressure lower in some planes more than others?
Avatar f tn Did u try finding out the reason?? I know fainting can be caused by many things during pregnancy but some can lead to more complex situation.. U ahould consult ur doctor as it could be due to high or low blood pressure or dehydration etc...
Avatar n tn The only possibly related anomalies I have experienced are vasovagal syncope after blood tests, injections etc. And my lips turn blue when it is cold or when I visit a (non-pressurized) place at very high altitude. My legs fall alseep often. Was the fainting simply due to being out of shape? or is it likely that I have a heart problem? None was ever detected during childhood checkups. I would be very grateful to hear your opinion on the matter.
Avatar f tn Another thing which may be important is that when I was in hospital my urine and blood was tested and I was found to have high glucose in both so it looks like I may have type 2 diabetes. So yes, quite a lot of information there. I still feel dreadful and have zero energy to do anything and haven't left the house in 5 weeks besides the hospital and GP's office. What do you think is going on? I really need to start feeling better soon.
Avatar f tn When they say your a high risk they should be explaining what makes you high risk and how to manage that... I would be asking for more answers as to why!
Avatar f tn I am 18 years old, and i keep fainting. I first fainted in the shower after not having anything to eat or drink all day, which i know is my fault. However, i have continued to faint every day since which has been about 10 days in a row. I had paramedics called out to me and had tests done like blood, egg and blood pressure. My blood was fine, i have a very fast blood rate and low blood pressure.
Avatar f tn Did you ever have a problem with high or low blood sugar? When was the last time your Dr ordered a GD test?
Avatar m tn I am a 43 yr old male, not overweight and in decent shape. Ihave had fainting problems over the past 4 years. I used to think it was stress/anxiety issues but now I am not sure. I started going to my family doctor and the doctor diagnosis was vasovagal syncopy. I have been tested for the following and all came back normal: EKG's 2x a year Eco- cardiogram CT scan Blood work 1x a year Heart Monitor for 2 weeks - of course i did not faint when I had it.
Avatar f tn Hi, Sinus arrhythmia is a normal phenomenon in every child. I hope your doctor knows what he's doing. There are two possibilities. Fainting after standing for a long time or during rest, is usually caused by vagal hyperactivity that causes a drop in the blood pressure, usually with a slow heart rate. This is more or less normal.
Avatar n tn It could be that your blood pressure shot up or maybe your blood sugar got too high or low. If your still not feeling well today you could go to a med center. Do you have any of those close to you? The headache is what has me concerned. I'm not trying to scare you but it possibly could have been a stroke. The med center can check for all the things I mentioned. Please let us know what you find out.
926702 tn?1244054324 In most cases people who have syncope recover quickly, and are not at especially high risk once the episode is finished. However, cardiac syncope can be dangerous and fatal and that issue should be ruled out. If it is a heart related problem it can be due to obstructive lesions, and/or heart rhythm disturbances.
7223533 tn?1397755355 I'll definitely try that tea. My doctors took me off a aspirin 81 and off of high risk since my blood disorder is no longer a concern. No I'm not on my feet alot only when I need to because my feet start to swell. I do get bloody noses with clots occasionally but doc says it's normal.
Avatar m tn In other cases, people may have no symptoms but are at high risk for dangerously slow heart rates because of disturbances of the electrical system of the heart. A pacemaker may be recommended for these people before symptoms occur. There are no electrical disturbance shown with your post?! Because a wrong decision can be very serious I would hesitate to second quess a doctor's assessment.
Avatar m tn I am 37 yrs & was under severe stress for about last 6 months (which is now over) of late during my medical examination in Feb'12 my hemoglobin was around 12, In month of May'12 it was recorded 16 & now 16.4. During all these months I had developed high uric acid which read as 8.9 for which I have been recommended Furic 40, 1 tab daily (which has reduced pain in my finger joints).
Avatar n tn It is not normal and there can be a number of reasons such as damage to heart tissues, high blood pressure, complication from heart surgery, underactive thyroid gland, medication, electrolyte imbalance, etc. The risk is when the heart rate is slow there exits a possibility there is not enough blood pumped into circulation, etc. If too low you can have a fainting spell as well. You probably should get a doctor's evaluation of your bradycardia.
