blood-sugar

1773108 tn?1314158067 t seem to stabilize. My boyfriend has been struggling for years with high blood sugar. He told me this morning that his level was at 480+!!!! He says he doesn't feel any different whether it's high or low. The lowest it's been (to my knowledge) is still in the high range of 200+. He's one of those who just try to do things "naturally" so therefore is not currently taking RX meds, just natural supplements. What can he do? Anything you suggest would be helpful.
Avatar f tn Can someone tell me how high your blood sugar should get before you become alarmed or call the doctor? I have not been diagnosed but a few months and my doctor has not told me much of nothing. My sugar keeps going up and down, my doctor won't put me on medicine(the highest its been is 400+, the lowest 60) Thanks for your help!!!
Avatar m tn By doing this you will also learn which foods make your blood sugars high (and you can then avoid them). if your blood sugars stay high even with lifestyle measures then medications (oral such as metformin, or injected insulin if your sugars were very high) would be recommended. Please read up on diabetes and it's management. I would strongly recommend you consider adopting a lower carb diet, exercise daily (ideally a minimum of 30 - 60 minutes), and normalise weight. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn All these things greatly influence blood sugar. If you have been unable to get your blood sugar stable at all, these are things you need to work on. I hope your husband gets better soon.
752468 tn?1237560359 Hopefully we can control it with diet, but will he need medication right away with such high numbers? I worry that he will not comply as he has bad eating habits. This is going to be my quest in life now...to keep him healthy. Any advice??
Avatar m tn Hi Kumarqwp, that does seem strange. Here is an article from MedHelp.org about blood sugar, exercise and diabetes; typically your sugars are more in danger of going down with exercise than going up. Hopefully SuperSally88 our CL will come along; she is an avid exerciser and may have advice for you! http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn This would involve evaluation of c-peptide, antibodies, and insulin levels correlated with blood sugar levels. Type 1 is lack of insulin (and needs injected insulin), Type 2 is plenty of insulin, but there is insulin resistance and the insulin is not effective. For Type 2, oral meds may be appropriate. If it is adult onset type 1, it may develop quickly. Therefore, I suggest your read up on syptoms of both type 1 and type 2 and if you develop symptoms then you must go to your Dr.
Avatar f tn I m Type-1 diabetic from last 15 years and my blood sugar level used to be under control but from last 2 Weeks, my sugar level fluctuates a lot. Fasting blood sugar is nearly around 300 : before dinner around 500 and after dinner its around 400.There is no change in my diet, exercise or my daily routine pattern. Even I take short acting insulin(novorapid) when my sugar level goes beyond 300 but it doesn't make much difference. I m really worried.
Avatar n tn I had mentioned to a friend with a diabetic son that after I exercise(run) in the morning my blood sugar will sometimes shoot up 100-150 points and this is after a reading of 120-150 prior to running on my treadmill. I then have readings that are 200-250 and I get very frustrated! I am a type I diabetic for 26 years. I thought this was strange seeing that I had not eaten anything to make my blood sugar climb so high.
Avatar n tn A compounder came to draw the blood. I have given blood for PP gain today with almost same meal with two half boiled eggs. Just to ensure a double check.
Avatar f tn Weight loss if you are overweight, and exercise are also very important for blood sugar control. At least 30 minutes of exercise once a day (or even better if you can make it longer or more than once a day), would help in controlling blood sugar.
1058898 tn?1275675151 Your doctor is uninformed and irresponsible to be allowing your blood sugar to go so high without advising you to do anything. As Zoelula said, it is your health. It is up to you. Get yourself educated and get it under control. Else there will be consequences. This is the plain and ugly, but necessary truth!
Avatar n tn i hae experienced weight loss due to high blood sugar because the acid from being high eats away the body fat. its sounds weird but thats what my doctor told me. also if your high alot then when you do run normal, you will feel low or not right because your so used to being high. i hope i helped alittle bit. good luck to you.
Avatar m tn Also, 30 mins of exercise a day will have a drastic affect on their blood pressure. I would mostly be concerned about the high blood sugar.
1448460 tn?1284694467 Prednisone does tend to raise your blood sugar and you should do what you can to keep it down as much as possible. You did not mention if you are on insulin or pills or just diet control. Considering you are only taking prednisone for a very short time, you shouldn't have too much to worry about. If your blood sugar is at that level for a longer period of time that may bring about some damage. Exercise more, if possible, definitely drink lots more water and really watch your diet.
Avatar n tn I tested my blood sugar this morning and it was 105. Would you say this is out of the normal range. I had blood work done about a month ago when I had my annual physical and my sugar level came back at 109. My doctor didn't seem to alarmed.
Avatar n tn I am overweight. I know I need to exercise and loose weight, but WHO FEELS LIKE IT? I am 65 years old with problems of HBP, depression, sleep apnea as well as diabetes. I have been told by people who were put on inslun they wish it had been sooner. I need help!!!!!
Avatar f tn d probably get it checked in another 6 months to see where you are at. This article may help you understand how blood sugar can fluctuate and when it is normal. https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar m tn Given time with those BG you will develop complications from diabetes. Have you started to eat low carb. your body converts carbs to BG. Exercise is a good way to control BG, it lowers it and a muscle that is toned uses more BG even at rest. See a MD BEFORE you develop complications.
Avatar f tn I agree with troytroy that you need to meet with a doctor or diabetic educater to learn the basics of diabetes care. First of all being continually over 130 for fasting blood sugar is too high. Your wife needs to have her doctor evaluate her medication regimen and see if something needs to be changed. Also I'm guessing you don't know much about diet and exercise to help control Type II diabetes and this is very important to learn.
Avatar m tn m assuming fasting blood sugar] indicates prediabetes. This can be corrected with proper diabetes nutrition, maintaining proper weight and daily physical exercise. Does "pp" stand for postprandial? Without knowing when, or how the 256 mg/dl test results came about your wife should ask the next doctor, preferably an Endocrinologist - a diabetes specialist - for 1. A1c test [HgBA1c, HbA1c] - gives a more reasonable view of the glucose [blood sugar] over the past 3 months.
Avatar n tn Today about 20 minutes after my lunch I started sweating, feeling weak, heart racing, etc. I checked my blood sugar and it was 71 after eating a chicken salad, salad. I checked it before eating and it was 77 so why would it go down after eating a salad and a few wheat crackers? 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.
Avatar m tn Long slow exercise will typically reduce blood sugar. Competition / High intensity / high effort exercise will typically first cause a rise, and later blood sugars will be lower and the lower period is much longer than the temporary higher period. So the temporary high will be well offset by the long term effect of that exercise. However, in a non-diabetic person blood sugar is very finely controlled and blood sugar will not vary much at all.
