Avatar f tn Mother had been experiencing dreams, nightmares really centering on the things she fears the most - abandoment, loss of control of her money, being pushed down the stairs, etc. These dreams were very real to her and she would then argue with her husband about why he said he wanted to do these things to her. He, of course, knew nothing of these "conversations and situations" she thought were so real.
Avatar f tn I feel at such a loss in trying to help my Mother. I've gone back to Neurologist and am awaiting his advise, but he doesn't appear to be emphathetic to this issue. Her GP defers to the neurologist. My 81 yr old Mother in middle to late stage Alzheimer's. She is not on any anti-anxiety med except for Paxil which was prescribed about a month ago. She gets aggitated during the day at times and especially sundowners time.
Avatar n tn My husband has been prescibed the the 9.5 exelon patch but we still have a supply of the 4.6 patches. With them being so expensive can I use two of the 4.6 patches at the same time until we run out?
Avatar n tn She has since tested negative for H Pylori, and has been taken off Razadyne(24 mg ) for memory problems, put on Exelon (6mg patch), then taken off it after two weeks and more nausea. She has been off the Exelon patch for 72 hours, and still experiences nausea when she moves about. Still puzzling and frustrating. doctors are stumped (still) and I am feeling worthless because I cannot help her kick the nausea or find the cause. Really looking for help here. Any will be gratefully accepted.
Avatar n tn Thank you. I notice you are in Cleveland and have a question regarding Mom. She has been treated for the last few years for Alzheimer's with an Exelon patch. I am not sure why she isn't on any other therapy but this is what her family doc has her on. She has not been "formaly" diagnosed however, the stress of the situation with dad has sent her downward very quickly. Unfortunetly without him, her anchor, her condition has become severe.

She has been off the Exelon patch for 72 hours, and still experiences nausea when she moves about. Recently, she started back on the lower dose of Razadyne. Her neurologist doesn't think the medicine is the cause of the nausea, though it could be aggrivating whatever is causing it.

Avatar n tn It would be helpful if the Exelon Patch advertisers didn't feel it was necessary to have their information on continual scroll. There is a reason why I don't read rolling credits at the end of a movie, too. They usually roll too fast to read and simply hurt my head and can trigger migraines. Most of the time I don't see rolling adds, but when I do, I'm put off. Uh...I did not search for anything that would have had anything to do with this particular advertiser.
900662 tn?1469390305 Just a follow up, The MS Nero was quite clear that it is not Alzheimer's doesn't look like Alzheimer's was hundred percent sure it's not Alzheimer's so it is off label use.. This was probably the best conversation I've ever had with the MS Neuro, we were probably on the phone almost 20 minutes and then I spoke with the MS nurse the next day for half an hour more the. I have routine office visit in March, the meds will have an effect in 4-6 weeks.
9258244 tn?1402972453 Have been on Fentnyl 25 patch for over a year. 3,months ago I asked my Dr to reduce me because my body felt so toxic! I couldn't even tell where my pain was or how bad anymore. He got mad because I said I wanted off everything, but he reduced it to the 12.5 patch. I stopped the Oxycodone and Lyrica as well on my own. How can I get off this patch? He told me I would only do it for 2months then I would go to something else to taper down ......but he lied.

Avatar f tn Hi, Some cases of early-onset AD, called familial AD (FAD), are inherited. FAD is caused by a number of different gene mutations on chromosomes 21, 14, and 1, and each of these mutations causes abnormal proteins to be formed. Even if only one of these mutated genes is inherited from a parent, the person will almost always develop early-onset AD. This inheritance pattern is referred to as “autosomal dominant” inheritance.
2007231 tn?1327807016 As I do have faith that one day my fathers Alzheimer's Disease will be treated one day. "Let go and let god" they say. We finally found something that treats alzheimer's and we have noticed much improvement. I was reading through research documents from www.smartdrugsforthought.com and found several profound medical documents and studies with the use of a cognitive and memory supplement, called Piracetam, in Alzheimer's patients.
769333 tn?1235214424 How to promote a good night's sleep Sleep disturbances can take a toll on both you and your loved one. To promote better sleep: Think light. Exposing your loved one to a few hours of bright sunlight in the morning may improve his or her sleep at night. Light therapy with a specialized light box might be helpful, too. Avoid caffeine and alcohol. Caffeine in soda, tea, coffee or other products might contribute to sleeplessness, and alcohol can contribute to confusion and anxiety.

Avatar f tn Hi, this may seem like an odd question but I'm really having difficulty getting a straight answer from the neurologists I have asked. I realize that the field is still growing and am comfortable getting the "I just don't know" answer. Is it POSSIBILE that a head trauma or any other not yet named brain disorder could cause a result on a PET scan similar to alzheimer's.
Avatar f tn Patients who got the treatment for four months showed improvements in tests of memory recall that lasted for two months. "We believe our results are very promising and they warrant future trials," said Dr. Suzanne Craft of the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and the University of Washington in Seattle, who presented her findings at a meeting of the Alzheimer's Association in Honolulu.
9258244 tn?1402972453 It so small. How many pieces did you cut it into? I have been without the patch since Sunday morning but I know I can't go cold turkey right now. I try to see how long I can go in between changes. I'm 55 years old and I also take care of my 80 year old mother with Alzheimer's, so I have to be extremely careful how I do this. I never intended for my pain mgmnt Dr to take me this far. I'm so angry at myself for letting this happen.
398059 tn?1447945633 Not sure if these have already been posted or discussed, but: From Julie Stachowiak, Ph.D. , your Guide to Multiple Sclerosis It is common for people to refer to "a senior moment" or say something like "must be my Alzheimer's disease" when they forget a name or an appointment. I never really thought that was particularly sensitive or funny, since Alzheimer's is real and debilitating.
