Avatar m tn Etanercept Study Group. Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Internal Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA. ***@**** BACKGROUND/AIMS: Current therapies for patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) do not achieve sustained viral clearance in most patients, and are associated with severe toxic effects. Our aim was to investigate the efficacy and safety of etanercept as adjuvant to interferon and ribavirin in treatment-naive patients with HCV.
Avatar n tn Can a perispinal etanercept injection help heal severe pain linked to the piriformous muscle?
Avatar m tn Can anyone tell me if peri spinal etanercept works ? I have had four back surgeries since 2000. The last two were for decompression of the L-4, L-5 and S-1 nerve roots. My third surgery was performed in January 2011 and the last one in July 2012. I am still having pain around my right hip, left calf , left ankle and left foot. MRI and CT Myloegram do not show anything. Help !
Avatar m tn The standard therapy options include intravenous immunoglobulin and plasmapharesis, corticosteroids, azathioprine, cyclophosphamide, etanercept, mycophenolate mofetil, interferon alpha 2a and tacrolimus. Current ones are interferon beta 1a, rituximab, and high dose cyclophosphamide. Your neurologist needs to apprise you of the long-term side effects since prolonged therapy are required. Botox shots are not known to be used in therapy.
Avatar n tn Hi I am from the UK but currently live in the US so know how both systems work. I would recommend seeing the specialist privately in the UK. It's usually not too expensive and you can be seen within days. For something like your eyes, this is a good investment believe me. In the US, you can see whoever you want......but believe me also when I tell you the bills are scary. Even with insurance! Don't hate on the NHS just yet.
5894884 tn?1386969571 i live in Leeds and have a nhs dentist you need to phone your nearest nhs dentist and ask if they are taking new patents if there not they will be able to give you a number to call
Avatar m tn What exactly are you looking for?
Avatar f tn I have to wait 2 months for my initial neurology appointment on the NHS. If I paid privately it will cost me something around £200 for a 1 hour appointment. I have £200 which I was saving for something else, and will probably reduce the wait to only 2 weeks. I know that the consultant may not be able to diagnose what may be wrong in the first assessment and it may take many visits, but is it worth the money for possible quicker peace of mind? The 2 month wait is really going to aggravate me.
Avatar n tn I was unconcerned about the chances of HIV until I was told about fake condoms being used in some areas. I had a test at an NHS gum clinic at just over 6 weeks after which came back negative. I am unsure however if I need further testing as I dont know what type of test was used. Can I take this result at conclusive? What is the standard NHS test used?
Avatar f tn Hi I am new to this site and my first round of ivf failed I paid for private but cant afford another go nhs is my only option.
Avatar f tn t even heard of it until this pregnancy! I read on the nhs website that they only test/treat women at risk. Have any UK ladies been tested? I'm scared as keep reading stuff about it!!
Avatar m tn so I want to seek another similar organization that could also provide HIV test besides NHS,but can give the result faster than NHS, do any British friends know about "Better2know"??? Is it qualified to offer HIV test as a private clinic? Is it authoried by UK government?
Avatar m tn peterrrr and myself are in the UK; for us the question is not whether it is medically possible, what we want to know is whether the NHS (what in the US you'd consider "socialised healthcare", i.e. govt/taxpayer funded healthcare) will pay for it. Most people in the UK don't have medical insurance, it's all covered by the NHS. The NHS is extremely happy to pay for anything that prevents fertility, not so sure whether they will pay for fertility to be restored...
Avatar f tn Hi..ticked thank you for your replay, yes Homerton Hospital they don't have specialist surgeon for endometriosis they referred me to UCLH, I phone them to make an appointment but they are full till 3/4 weeks I told them that I have lots of pain, and my 3 mos. injection finished, and I have lots of pimples/acne now its getting worse :( NHS here they don't priority the endometriosis I will phone again UCLH if they can make me an appointment..
Avatar n tn is there anyway of getting rid of Fordyce Spots on the penis for free on the nhs? because they look disgusting and im really, really embarresed about it.
Avatar f tn Sorry .not being from the UK ,I am not familiar with NHS coverage. I am not sure if there is anyone here from the UKe if so hopfully they will chime in. If it has to do with your gov"t programs ,I would imagine it is ,however with limitations and some restrictions...but just not sure. Good luck.
572651 tn?1530999357 Often those of us in the US scratch our heads and wonder about how other countries function with their health care and how the decision to dole out treatment is made. In the UK, the use of DMD's is very hard to get prescribed through the National Health System (NHS), in part due to their Risk Sharing Scheme. Here is a simplified explanation of the process from the UK MS website: Are disease modifying drugs available on the NHS?
Avatar f tn UK residents, your advice about dealing with the NHS would be greatly appreciated. The problems are described in another thread, "Suitability for monovision" by MandaCope (Nov. 03, 2009).
