Common Questions and Answers about Estrogen patch dosage

vivelle-dot

17008026 tn?1453000615 Hi! During the last six months my weight has increased from ~135 (60 kg) to almost 175 (80kg) pounds. This happens even though my general level of exercise has increased and I just eat approximately 1300-1500 calories a day. I would have asked my doctor about this but he's not very accessible at the moment, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to get an answer to this type of question.
Avatar f tn she wants to put me on a low dosage of estrogen patch and wellbuterin? then she checked my neck and felt some inflammation, she did a sonogram which confirmed a slight enlargement of the left lobe. They are now testing for thyroid anitbodies which I had to ask them to do. She didn't give me the scripts for the patch, the wellbuterin and didn't tell me what to do or why I have an enlargement? she was really busy. What is going on, I feel awful.
7649183 tn?1393014236 Menostar is an ultra, ultra low-dose estrogen patch (0.014 mg/day) that has recently been approved for unopposed estrogen use in postmenopausal women. It is indicated for bone protection only and does not offer any vasomotor symptom relief. You can get these patches prescribed. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
178345 tn?1242536246 Hi Mary, what you are saying IS helpful. And, thanks Gia for asking. I have been in an emotional tail spin lately. I know lots going of for me but I felt SO good about a month ago and the fatigue and stuff has been so bad for me in the last month...well, since the end of June. I have resisted talking to the doc b/c all he'll do is adjust the estrogen. I'm afraid to up the dosage. I'm on .0325 now of Climara. I did check my thyroid and it's OK.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi, I'm on a HRT (Vivelle-Dot) but I'm also a limbolander, but I might be of some help. I was put on Vivelle-Dot after loosing all my hormones due to a hysterectomy. Both Vivelle-Dot and Climara seem to contain estradiol (a form of estrogen bioidentical to your body's own). In the summer, I have been on this med for a year. I was put on this med right after my last form of hormone was removed (which was one ovary by this point).
4128244 tn?1350073611 estradiol is a major form of estrogen, and as both goolarra and I posted, estrogens will raise the TSH, because estrogen binds the thyroid medication, so it can't be utilized by the body.
Avatar f tn I am being treated with this with Hydrocortone but with this my testosterone levels is low as is my Free Androgen Index is also low. I am now on transdermal patch of testosterone to try to ignite my libido which has been non-exsistent for years. the dose of 300mg is not enough but my doctor does not want to up dosage. I would like to have a healthy sex life and my marriage is definitely suffering due to this. anyone got any answers to this for me?
Avatar f tn Estrogen causes some of the glands in the breast tissue to swell .Birth control patch causes consistent release of estrogen which causes elevated estrogen levels throughout the body making the breasts become larger. If you are too concerned it will be best to discuss it with your gynecologist. I hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn Up until about 6 months after I felt great and was just on a low dose of estrogen. I am only 34. I have a 9 year old girl and a 3 year old boy and my husband is 7 years younger than me. I am battling major night sweats, hot flashes, moodiness, anxiety, depression, and now reflux, sleep issues...etc. I am not sure the best thing to do. I feel like I just have more and more prescriptions thrown at me and I am overwhelmed. Any advice would be helpful.
778044 tn?1299542934 I have a question for anyone using the Ortho Evra Patch to help control their endometriosis. It says right on the box that you are exposed to 60% more estrogen using the patch then other birth control pills. Since estrogen "feeds" endometriosis, how does this make sense? I have been advised by my doctor after 6 months of Lupron injections, to use the patch consistantly (not having a patch off week and not getting a period) until we are ready to get pregnant.
Avatar f tn Since then I have been on an estrogen patch and felt great for the first couple of months after the procedure. I began to experience low back pain; particularly in the morning. So severe at times that I can hardly bend to put on my shoes. I did gain 20lbs but I am still active at 46 years old. Is it possible to have a prolaspe bladder as I feel that there is something coming out of me. Also, when I have sneezed or coughed, I feel a ripping in my abdomin but does not hurt.
429647 tn?1249753429 my ttumor was tested and it was estrogen positive i am on an estrogen blocker.. how about asking your doc if the tumor was estrogen positive or not.
1129774 tn?1279831762 Hi Rasta, Since you say that the symptoms get worse right before you change your patch, it sounds like you either need an increased dosage, or maybe you could ask your doctor if your can change your patch a bit sooner. I use the Wisdom Menopause Formula, and I haven't had problems with vaginal dryness, but I kept my ovaries, so there's really no comparison. I'll ask some of the others I know if it has helped in those areas.
Avatar f tn Oh definitely - headaches can be caused by ovarian hormone changes. Since your only ovary was removed two months ago, you may still have some of your body's own estrogen and the patch may be giving you too much. Or the fluctuations of the patch may be the cause of your headaches. The problem is that every woman who has hormonally triggered headaches is different and what works for one may or may not work for another. So it is a matter of trial and error to find what works best.
Avatar f tn Could you tell me if eating soy would interfere with the estrogen patch I take? I am on the vivelle patch .1mg and was wondering if eating edamames would help. Can the phytoestrogens be taken with the estrogen patch? Thank you so much for your help!
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a complete hysterectomy and have been on an estrogen patch ( vivelle dot) for ten years. I have had migraines for 30 yrs. I’m really struggling because changing the patch every three days triggers a migraine like clock work. At 12 hrs the pain begins and builds so by 24 hrs it’s debilitating. Pain meds are not an option that frequently obviously. Would it help to overlap the tone I put one on and take the old one off. Clearly the rise and fall of estrogen is the trigger.
Avatar f tn Dear Amy good question personally I am in favor of estrogen replacement , especially at your age.
Avatar f tn I use an estrogen patch, testosterone and progestorone cream. I first read Suzanne Summers book on bioidentical hormones. It was very helpful.
Avatar f tn I seriously doubt that migranes are related to menopause..they are related to stress so by having stress from hyster, and medically induced menopause it could be said there is a connection. I saw the Ophrah show you speakof and I am 47 have had a medically induced menopause via hysterectomy also...my doctor recomedded bio identical hrt I only take estrogen...its good for bone desity, helps with nerves and anger outbursts I was having also took away hot flashes and insomnia..
Avatar f tn When I left the hospital I was fine emotionally for about a week, as they placed a large estrogen patch on my abdomen before I woke up form surgery. When that evidently started to wear off, the EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS from when I was 20 came back with a vengeance - cold sweat panic attacks/severe can't-stop-crying depression, etc.
Avatar f tn They are having me increase my Progesterone shots from 1cc to 1.5ccs and get an Estrogen patch. The nurse says that this doesn't mean that the procedure didn't take but I am worried. It sounds like a bad sign. My question is for other people who have had IVF. Has this happened to you? Did it mean you weren't pregnant? I am being paranoid or should I prepare myself for the worst? I have had IUI twice and this is my first IVF.
216278 tn?1308861082 I am sorry I do not know too much about the Estradiol patch and estrogen levels, but I understand your concerns and second guessing. I am sure if you made the right decision to do use the patch and now you are like you said second guessing. Relax and trust your decision. I hope someone has more constructive information for you. Good Luck!!
Avatar f tn 5 MG nightly, I just started celebrex for severe joint/bone pain which I have developed over the past few weeks, also been using estrogen patch and prometrium 100 mg nightly to help with menopausal symptoms. I have been taking Diovan 80 MG for HBP for a few years now. My Dr recently prescribed Savella for my all over body pain which gets much worse at night while I am sleeping , My Dr. says the pain is most like caused by Fibromyalga(?
Avatar m tn m on the Vivelle dot (estradiol transdermal system) 0.0375 mg/day, which is an estrogen patch. That stopped my hot flashes in the first week. I'm also on a compound pharmacist's version of Prometrium (progesterone). My doctor didn't want me to use a progesterone cream but the pharmacist has actually told me that I can cut the capsules in half and spread the oil/cream on the inside of my arm. (This is something that I just found out yesterday) http://www.prometrium.
Avatar n tn Hi! I have low estrogen and normal FSH (I'm 38, though). My course of action is to wear an estrogen patch from 3 days after ovulation to 12 days after ovulation (since that's when mine is dropping off). I have heard of (and tried it once, but didn't like how I felt) that the patch can also be worn during CD8-12 to help with low estrogen. My acupuncturist told me that the patch is the most similar to actual estrogen (versus pills) so I pushed for that!
Avatar f tn Mayfly, It is so hard to say if the patch of Vivelle caused the weight gain. This is such a complicated subject. I am wondering if your body was making Estrogen in the form of Estrone (which is the 'menopause' estrogen that is made as a by-product from the fat in our system... and this fat is what causes the fat around our middle section so that it is readily available for use by the body since women's bodies crave estrogen)...
Avatar f tn I am also currently on .1 estrogen patch as I had a complete hysterectomy and bi-lateral mastectomy due to a BRCA 1 gene, my age and family history of cancer. My estrogen is at a mid low range but normal none the less. I take 450 of Wellbutrin XL for a mood stabilizer as I can be quick to anger, withdrawn and moody. My thyroid numbers have only gotten lower since my med changes. I am confused about what is happening. My liver ALT and AST came back high as did my DHEA-S.
