Estrogen patch vivelle

Common Questions and Answers about Estrogen patch vivelle

vivelle-dot

Avatar f tn It almost makes me wonder if the cells receptive for Estradiol (Vivelle) were just getting used to the type of estrogen you were introducing to your body and that eventually you would have adjusted. I say this because it typically is the Lack of Estrogen that will cause weight gain and not the abundance. On the other hand, since you are also taking progesterone, you may have been out of balance between the two hormones.
Avatar f tn I had a complete hysterectomy 5 1/2 years ago at the age of 35 for a borderline serous tumor in one of my ovaries. I have been on the vivelle dot .1mg patch for several years with no problems. Lately, I have been having symptoms of low estrogen like hot flashes. Unfortunately, my gyn oncologist has retired so I have been seeing my regular ob for my yearly follow up.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy in October 2009, I was put on the vivelle-dot patch. I'm on the lowest dose (0.05mg). I change the patch twice a week. I had my yearly mamogram (which has always been normal). I picked up the report today and it says: Findings: Dense and hetergenous breast parenchyma is again observed with minor asymmetry.
7649183 tn?1393014236 Menostar is an ultra, ultra low-dose estrogen patch (0.014 mg/day) that has recently been approved for unopposed estrogen use in postmenopausal women. It is indicated for bone protection only and does not offer any vasomotor symptom relief. You can get these patches prescribed. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a complete hysterectomy and have been on an estrogen patch ( vivelle dot) for ten years. I have had migraines for 30 yrs. I’m really struggling because changing the patch every three days triggers a migraine like clock work. At 12 hrs the pain begins and builds so by 24 hrs it’s debilitating. Pain meds are not an option that frequently obviously. Would it help to overlap the tone I put one on and take the old one off. Clearly the rise and fall of estrogen is the trigger.
Avatar f tn I was on vivelle patch for many, many years and ran into trouble just taking estrogen. What happened was my adrenals were having a hard time working and since everything was taken out during my hysto., I wasn't producing much progesterone. My adrenals started to steal progesterone and I started having daily anxiety and panic attacks among other symptoms. As soon as I was put on progesterone, anxiety got better. I'm on the road to recovery now but it's taking a bit of time.
Avatar f tn I was on the 1mg patch of Vivelle for years before I switched and tried other estrogen combos.... back to Vivelle for me. I get a dull headache now and then if I forget to change my patch. For me the bad headaches were related to menopause... of course, you will check out this pain with the doctors... but do the research on the hormonal front and see what you think. The reason I like Vliet's book so much, for one thing, is that she gives ideas of doses...
Avatar f tn back in 84 and have only been on estrogen. Vivelle dot .05mg. Then I got anxiety - bad daily anxiety. After adding the progesterone, I'm seeing a big difference already - for the better.
Avatar f tn Have been on Vivelle patch since 2000, but switched to an estrogen cream for a bit... loved the patch instead. There is a difference between a synthetic hormone like Premarin and a bioidentical estrogen. And, you need testosterone (no progesterone). Sorry... gotta go. Can check in later. You can feel better... I am soooo sorry you are suffering so much.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi, I'm on a HRT (Vivelle-Dot) but I'm also a limbolander, but I might be of some help. I was put on Vivelle-Dot after loosing all my hormones due to a hysterectomy. Both Vivelle-Dot and Climara seem to contain estradiol (a form of estrogen bioidentical to your body's own). In the summer, I have been on this med for a year. I was put on this med right after my last form of hormone was removed (which was one ovary by this point).
Avatar n tn the product I used ( my main symptoms where hot flashes, night sweats) was the Vivelle estrogen patch. Your Dr can and should do blood work, because even though it may seem not your ovaries are still trickling just a bit of estrogen so you need to know your hormone levels ( Dr does) to prescribe correct combination or single hormone, what ever you may need.
Avatar f tn I have been using the estrogen patch (Vivelle dot .1) since my surgery and have had no problems with hot flashes. However, for the past 8 months I having been getting hot flashes every now and then. Is this normal? When I mentioned it to my doctor, he just said I was already taking the highest dose the patch comes in and didn't like the idea of me using the oral kind. I'm just wondering why this would start after so many years and if anyone else has experienced this.
178345 tn?1242536246 Girls - I know I should maybe post this elsewhere but since you guys are my friends and know so much I was just wondering if anyone here that is on the vivelle-dot patch have any side effects from it..for 2 days I have this drawing pain in my upper thigh...it is more of a nuisance than a real terrible pain...I always worry about blood clots..I took my patch off just in case for a few hours but had to put it on due to the hot flashes ...I am hoping this is nothing but I am worried..
Avatar f tn The latest and greatest is endo took me off birth control pills because of side effects. Which makes me very happy. He added Vivelle patch 0.1 and Prometrium 200 mg for ten days out of the month. Also upping my Humatrope. And taking another look at my thyroid. Anyone have experience with the Vivelle for estrogen replacement? The thing that has me super discouraged is my weight and my dr recommendation that I consider lap band. I currently am about 90lbs overweight.
Avatar f tn carol I use the Vivelle ( estrogen only ) patch so far really happy with it, It seems that I have noticed many women need estrogen only,,,,at first then after x amount of years need testosterone also, who knows maybe I need it now, but I am asymptomatic so I choose not to treat it. I personally dont advise anyone to use anything but bio-identical hormones. Many doctors go by a womans description of how she feels, if your having doubts do by all means request a hormone test, simple blood test.
Avatar f tn Just read on the internet that it can cause birth defects and I can't reach my doctor to confirm this.
178345 tn?1242536246 Hi Girls - Just wondering anyone on HRT Patch..Vivelle Dot..Lately, I have been so tired..extremely tired and my joints hurt..I am not sure what this is related to..wondering if it has to do with the hormone patch??? I am eating well and losing weight (on purpose) so I dont know what is wrong..tomorrow I am seeing my primary MD..Just thought if anyone has any idea...please share..
Avatar n tn Or, you may want to think about something completely different like the Vivelle Dot patch. This is something your Dr will have to prescribe just like your Estrace pills.
599170 tn?1300973893 I do recall feeling miserable about three months after the surgery and at the time I was on only Vivelle 1mg patch. I needed testosterone big-time. I do not recall just how much estrogen is lost after the surgery, but your body will be busy trying to replenish what was lost by making fat cells that would deliver estrogen (estrone... which is the main type of estrogen the body makes during menopause).
Avatar f tn Oh great one of the side effects of vivelle dot patch is back ache,,that explains my lower back pain,,,it did happen after going on vivelle, but i am thinking clearer maybe it willl go away
Avatar n tn or the Vivelle patch? Estratest? Bioidentical Progesterone? And, what about testosterone, either gel or cream, which we women can use "off-label" but some formulas can be put on the cliteral/genital area and work wonders regarding the issue you mentioned.
Avatar n tn Yes,,my own doctor showed me such a study ,,thats how he convinced me to use an estrogen hrt patch,,,I use Vivelle and am quite happy with it,,,My gyno claims the "old" studies where not a good scientific study,,,he says it was all post menopausal women and that made the study biased. A good study is double blind and a good cross section of women ,,some of differnent ages and ethnic backgrounds . I personally would advise anyone to do a lot of homework on this ...
718868 tn?1230730029 only they took it all..I have a lot of good to say about estrogen replacement//Im on the vivelle dot which is a patch that you apply 2 times per week. its increased my happiness, Im not hot flashing and not a basket case of nerves...ask your doc about it..
Avatar f tn Since then I have been on an estrogen patch and felt great for the first couple of months after the procedure. I began to experience low back pain; particularly in the morning. So severe at times that I can hardly bend to put on my shoes. I did gain 20lbs but I am still active at 46 years old. Is it possible to have a prolaspe bladder as I feel that there is something coming out of me. Also, when I have sneezed or coughed, I feel a ripping in my abdomin but does not hurt.
Avatar f tn thougth it fit KH, good luck at drs, my fav bio-identical that works best for me, is estrogen only patch called Vivelle, your doc may want you on a combo, mention vivelle and see what they say, Glad to have helped.Yup your age fits right in there for this symptom more common than not , most all women experience this hyster or not,.
Avatar f tn I am on 3 pills of estrace a day and a Vivelle patch every other day. Have been on it for 2 weeks now, gained about 5 lbs and go in this Friday for the transfer. I will stay on the meds til Aug. 15th, which is the date of the blood test to see if I am pregnant, then if it is a positive, I will be on it for 8 more weeks. Yikes, didn't expect to gain even more. Anyone else in this situation?
429647 tn?1249753429 after coming home from the hospital after a 3 week stay due to many complications...I switched to the vivelle dot patch and I am now on 0.5 which is so much lower than i was on..so far so good...it is from a plant deritative which I heard is better...it stablizes my mood also...I also would check with your Doctor before doing anything..I was only 40 so they highly recommend me on the HRT...I do see a difference than when I am not on it...Good Luck and so happy to hear you are in remission....
Avatar f tn in 84 and was on vivelle patch for most of those years. Just estrogen and no progesterone. I was fine until a few years ago and it just got worse. I became so estrogen dominant and became a total mess. I went to a very good hormone imbalance seminar a few days ago and it was great. I think if you went off, you'll regret it in time. There are so many symptoms with low or no hormone production.
