Avatar f tn Yes, it can be very confusing when it comes to the right things to eat. I do my best stick to plant based organic foods. This thing about carrageennan being in some of the organic foods I have was shocking. I couldn't believe the research on this stuff. I will be checking this forum everyday to see what great information has been posted.
Avatar f tn Craveing salty food is very common in pregnancy. The increased estrogen also changes your taste buds changing what food tastes like, and often leaving a gross metallic taste.
Avatar f tn I did a hormonal imbalance test and it turns out my estrogen level is at 203. The doctor told me to eat healthy, no carbs and no sugar. They also say irregular period is due to stress. I did my research stress leads to high estrogen. So I am guessing that is what causing it to be high. But I also read eating foods with lots of vitamins (ex. Selenium. Melatonin, vitamin b, magnesium, etc.) helps reduce it. But all this time I've been on a diet and I have been eating all of that.
Avatar m tn ll be less likely to make unhealthy food choices. Unhealthy foods, such as processed foods high in trans fat and oils high in omega-6 fats -- such as corn, soy and peanut -- increase inflammation and may make you feel worse. Also, try to fit in exercise at least 30 minutes five days a week. Gynecomastia is caused by an imbalance of hormones where testosterone levels may be low or estrogen levels may be high. The condition may affect men and boys of all ages and may affect one or both breasts.
Avatar f tn Start brisk walks daily in early morning and take less of fried and junk foods. In my opinion you should consult a gynecologist and start with hormone replacemenr therapy. You can also take Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators like Femarelle which derived from a botanical source (Phytoserms) or phytoestrogens which have an estrogenic effect on the body and therefore create a moderated estrogenic effect.
Avatar n tn Hello, Causes of post menopausal bleeding could be ovarian cysts, endometriosis, diseases of pituitary gland, hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone, thyroid hormone imbalance, cervicitis and cervical cancer. Your doctor may consider tests like blood sugar levels, thyroid function test, prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSA), estrogen, and testosterone. Imaging studies, such as ultrasound, X-ray, and CT scan or MRI brain may also be recommended in certain individuals.
Avatar n tn It is not due to dry skin or a food allergy though I have some food intolerances (but I avoid those foods). I do have an allergic profile and suffered a lot from Hay Fever when I lived in the US but not in Europe, where I live now. I have no hot flashes or vaginal dryness.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with DCIS (estrogen positive , had a lumpectomy, had radiation and is now taking tomixifen. I wanted to know how harmful eating foods with soy in it,, i am getting so many different answers to this question.
Avatar f tn d read, on this forum, that B6 absorption may be reduced by the estrogen in foods. Although I realize that the comment was about food, I wanted to investigate the estrogen angle. Especially since my neuropathy symptoms improved so much during my period. And I'd read some accounts where neuropathy was worse prior to period onset (when progesterone is higher). Anyway I tried using estriol last night. (Estriol is a bio-identical estrogen cream.) Wow, did my symptoms worsen!
Avatar n tn Progesterone levels fall and that allows the extra estrogen to cause us to be estrogen dominant. Estrogen dominance can also cause higher cholesterol levels by the way. :) My suggestion....let this period go for a few more days and see if it slows down. If it doesn't or it gets heavier and you're feeling "unwell" with it, give your doc a call.
Avatar m tn My most recent bloodtest seemed to show relatively high levels of estrogen and prolactin even though they are in range. Would this cause my problems? Can someone help me please... RESULTS Oestradiol 147 pmol/L (44-156) Prolactin 211mIU/L (86-324) Testosterone 29.5 nmol/L (7.6-31.4) Thyroid stimulating hormone 1.26 mIU/L (0.27-4.20) Thank you!
Avatar m tn This is all in your head. Eating a pound of butter is a stupid thing to do, but just doing it once isn't going to have any long-term effects. Also, at least to my knowledge, dairy doesn't have that much to do with estrogen -- it's pretty far down on the list of foods that are estrogenic.
Avatar f tn Also, any large weight adjustment causes a shift in hormones, because estrogen release is partially based on your fat cells. When you lose a large amount of weight, estrogen automatically declines. If you stop losing this weight at a healthy weight, once your body adjusts to the new amount of hormones, you should return to normal. Another reason for lack of menstruation after weight loss is poor nutrition, related to a lack of iron, zinc and lack of healthy dietary fats.
Avatar f tn The hot flashes actually went away for about 6 - 8 months and I thought maybe it was a change of climate and also I did some online reading and found that some women say some foods, like spicy foods might trigger hot flashes so I limited my diet. They're back now though and I'm not sure why except I am back to eating more variety in foods, even spicy foods. I notice I get them after I eat, but like Mom said, "you have to eat.
Avatar f tn I have a 21 yr male who has low testosterone levels and high estrogen levels. He has gynecomastitis, overweight, depressed, and insomnia. Any advice on treatment option!
Avatar f tn In 1982 the FDA approved the addition of soy to processed foods in America. Everytime I eat a food that contains any amount of soy, soybean oil, soy sauce, soy lecithin, or hydrogenated soybean oil I will have a seizure. I know that soy is estrogen. It takes about 45 minutes for my body to metablize the soy and cause me to have a seizure. I had a total hysterectomy in 1988 and I have no progesterone in my system.
Avatar m tn the stage of the disease, tumor features such as size of the cancer, estrogen/progesterone status, her2 status, lymph node status etc. Based on this information recommendations are made for treatment. She has had the treatment for the breast cancer, their might also be recommendation for some type of anti-estrogen treatment as well to further decrease her risk of recurrence as well.
Avatar n tn But giving up all dairy products is just smart. All dairy cows produce a lot of estrogen just to produce milk. Forget the fact that they are given de-wormers, antibiotics, growth hormones and such. And animal estrogen isn't a good thing. Then there comes the debate about phytoestrogens in plants. Soy for instance .... so many studies and so many different answers! Keep everything in moderation and you will do well. I actually take a drug called neurontin for hot flashes.
678918 tn?1226751211 It's not the caffeine itself but it changes the acid/base balance in the body which prompts the production of Estrogen to increase. It's the increased Estrogen that results in the formation of the cysts ... Fibrocystic Breast Condition. Other Estrogen rich foods can also have some effect ... fats, meats. It's complicated, isn't it ?? Regards .....
Avatar f tn Do what the above poster said, do as much research as you can and consult with a nutritionist. You have to know what foods are good for you since you have diabetes. Plant based if the way to go along with the right kinds of carbs.
Avatar f tn I had been reading online that it is possible to help facilitate regrowth by taking prenatal vitamins and bromelain tablets and green tea extracts as well as low dose aspirin and eating estrogen enriched foods as well, so I started taking the prenatal vitamins, the bromelain and green tea extracts and eating flax seed pumpkin seed and other estrogen rich foods. Now after just two weeks I am having spotting and am experiencing cramping.
Avatar m tn Very odd- strictly hypothesizing here- I would think that the acid based foods would somehow have to be influencing on her hormones causing period like symptoms? Because so far as I know, the reproductive system responds to hormonal influences. I might suggest to your friend that she get a thorough evaluation of her FSH, LH, LSH, TSH, as well as estrogen and progesterone levels.
