Avatar f tn I have always had to struggle with my weight. I gain weight easily and have a difficult time losing it, even when eating properly and exercising. This of course, has become worse, the older I get. But I have never gained weight as rapidly as I have the last 2 1/2 months!
Avatar n tn Zeligs, MD As we age, many tissues in our bodies become chronically inflamed, resulting in an increased risk of weight gain, diabetes, and cancer. By aiding healthy hormone metabolism and assisting the body to recognize and eliminate stressed cells, we can reduce generalized inflammation and slow the progress of aging-related disorders.
Avatar f tn But, I was very heavy growing up and carried a lot of Psychological baggage from those days. I lost a ton of weight in college and kept it off for years and years.....and once I hit Perimenopause, the weight battle started again and it was a battle. I was not prepared for another battle after my hysterectomy. I have had to chose to look at this as a "Non-battle" if you will... only because if I start thinking negatively about it all the time, I am doomed.
Avatar n tn oral contraceptive can affect weight. Also, once you've lost 10-15% of your body weight, weight loss typically plateaus and it is more difficult to continue losing.
Avatar f tn As I've mentioned in my previous post, I have the strong feeling that I have a hormone imbalance. For 3 years, I've been overemotional/irritable/nervous, have had light/skipped periods, persistent acne,(I'm 20 and I don't feel like this should be happening), and hot flashes. These problems have gotten progressively worse over the years. The problem is though, that I feel like I have the symptoms of both estrogen dominance and estrogen deficiency.
Avatar f tn I feel full and I hurt all the time now in my lower back. My family doctor just checked me yesterday for T3, T4, TSH and estrogen levels to see if the weight gain is related to my thyroid underactive or hormones/estrogen levels. I have not received the results yet. I still have my ovaries and I have been reading about ovarian cysts and cancer and I am very scared right now.
Avatar n tn Also, they can be caused my muscles failing to squeeze the vessels enough for the blood to travel back up to the heart--so it pools and leaks into capillaries. Exercise and weight loss will help the escalation of spider veins. Take Care.
Avatar f tn Test showed high testosterone, high estrogen, and darn near no progesterone. Prescribed est. and prog. and those are supposedly good now...but if I'm normal how come i feel AWEFUL? I'm exhausted, wake up 3 or 4 times throughout the night, am gaining a LOT of weight (30 lbs in the last 6 months) and while i admit i dont always eat healthy...there is NO way im eating enough to warrant that...
Avatar f tn Some women complain of gaining weight due to water retention when they take estrogen. I have not personally experienced that. But many women gain weight after hysterectomy too because it changes metabolism even when the ovaries are not removed. How is the lower dose working out?
Avatar m tn Also the lack of estrogen promotes a masculine figure. Weight loss is much harder because of the change in body shape and distribution of hormones.
1017213 tn?1301771273 I asked my dr. and she told me not to worry, LOL! But I know that sometimes the pill can also add weight and being hypo I have also gained some weight so I'm just wondering. Thanks for any input to my question (for further background pls check my profile page.) Mellowscout...here!
Avatar f tn I recently had an Estradial test done and they found no detectable estrogen. I have been really fatigue, short of breath and having heart palps. I had started using some Bio Identical Estrogen (BiEst) at a very low dose but I really do not feel great. Have a lot of hot flashes and overall do not feel good. Does anyone have any input regarding BiEst and my symptoms. Is not having estrogen bad? They tell me it is.
1638247 tn?1300467050 I've always been heavier than everyone else, even though I ate less and exercised more. But from the age of eight onward, I began gaining a lot of weight for no reason. No matter how little I eat or rigorously I work out, my body won't respond to diet or exercise. At one point, I was living on 200 cals a day while strength training and arobics morning, noon, and night.
Avatar n tn im going threw this right now im thinkin, im on estrogel pump an i got blood work done an the doc said i have lots of estrogen in my system, so on line i found that this my be a result to gaiining weight. im on eltroxin 100mcg an cant lose any weight at all. so i stopped takin the estrogen for a few days now to get rid of some of the excess estrogen the gel gave me!
Avatar n tn im 27 had 3 kids im tired, dizzy, weight gain frequent headaches that last for days and cant get rid of them my muscles feel tense in my neck and shoulders and when i sit to long i get headaches and dizzy
566073 tn?1219434819 At your age, you are just replacing what your body would naturally give you if you had not had your surgery. You can ask your doctor about testing the tumor for estrogen and progesterone receptors. Theorectically, if your tumor has estrogen receptors, if there are any other tumor cells left, they might be stimulated to grow. But mucinous tumors in general are not stimulated by estrogen. A stage Ia cancer should be cured by a radical hysterectomy.
Avatar m tn I did a saliva test for a month to track my hormones and I was diagnosed with estrogen dominance. I read that symptoms of hypothyroidism are often effects of such, and since I had continued to increase my levo., as my doctor said, with no improvement, I instead quit the levo. The progesterone helps other issues, but I still get the same stomach bloating/distention I did while on levo. What do you think this can be attributed to?
1353681 tn?1387083733 it is not estrogen, but rather a form of progestin... but is also partially used as birth control and for endometriosis.. It is a chalky pill, and I let it sit in my mouth to get it just right so it doesn't hit my throat.. but I notice it dissolves most of the way in my mouth before I swallow.. is it ok to just dissolve it for a couple mins in water before taking it.. I'd assume it is the same thing as it dissolving in my mouth.. ?
Avatar n tn I am 29 years old and other than the weight I am a very healthy athlete and have a high muscle content. I do not want children- they are definitely not in my future, ever. Other than loss of fertility (which I am not interested in anyway) is it unhealthy to NOT have a monthly period? What are the overall health risks, if any?
Avatar f tn i just came of all my hormones and i bled for 18 days straight i presummed it was my period returning but my gyno says its Estrogen withdrawal, any advice would really help....
Avatar f tn I have been taking Topomax 50mg a day (25 morning and 25 night) since January 20th, for weight loss. I've lost 50 lbs. Two months ago , my doctor put me on an ultra low dose birth control pill, for continuous birth control, to prevent pregnancy, as Im having a "date" in august, and because I have heavy periods. I understand that Topomax can decrease the effectiveness of the birth control pill.
Avatar n tn Also from my doctor, I learned that one can be both estrogen deficient and estrogen dominant at the same time if progesterone and estrogen are low, and due to our exposure to estrogens & phyto estrogens in environment and foods. So alot of balancing is required and diary your symptoms for your doctor, and balancing your doses of the creams based on your symptoms, always start low and work up, also know that with estrogen, the symptoms of too much and not enough, are the same.
Avatar f tn Other possibilities are chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, poor sleep patterns, inadequate sleep, low Vit b12, low iron, low calcium, sodium and potassium. At your age it can also be due to low estrogen and menopause. In women polycystic disease of the ovary too should be ruled out as it causes insulin resistance and fatigue. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Hello~Your hormones (estrogen and progesterone) could be out of balance, as could your thyroid. If possible, I would see your doctor and have him/her run some tests to see if you have a low/high thyroid and what your estrogen/progesterone levels are. Also, if you are under an abnormal amount of stress, you may have issues like this.
