1214315 tn?1266336553 I got the IUD 8 months ago and YES it can make you gain weight if it is the Merina one. It is the estrogen in it that makes you gain weight. I gained 25 lbs after I got and I work out 5 times a week, so I know it's not lack of exercise. I just recently got it taken out and I have already dropped 5lbs. I had another friend that had it for 2 years and she gained weight on it as well. She got hers taken out 2 months ago and has dropped 15lbs.
1638247 tn?1300467050 ve always been heavier than everyone else, even though I ate less and exercised more. But from the age of eight onward, I began gaining a lot of weight for no reason. No matter how little I eat or rigorously I work out, my body won't respond to diet or exercise. At one point, I was living on 200 cals a day while strength training and arobics morning, noon, and night.
Avatar f tn I have always had to struggle with my weight. I gain weight easily and have a difficult time losing it, even when eating properly and exercising. This of course, has become worse, the older I get. But I have never gained weight as rapidly as I have the last 2 1/2 months!
Avatar m tn Therefore they have a more feminine body, such as huge chests and a small torso. Gaining weight is also easy with this disorder as estrogen increases fatty tissue production. This is a harder disorder to diagnose as surgery is the only true confirmation.
Avatar f tn Some women complain of gaining weight due to water retention when they take estrogen. I have not personally experienced that. But many women gain weight after hysterectomy too because it changes metabolism even when the ovaries are not removed. How is the lower dose working out?
Avatar f tn Test showed high testosterone, high estrogen, and darn near no progesterone. Prescribed est. and prog. and those are supposedly good now...but if I'm normal how come i feel AWEFUL? I'm exhausted, wake up 3 or 4 times throughout the night, am gaining a LOT of weight (30 lbs in the last 6 months) and while i admit i dont always eat healthy...there is NO way im eating enough to warrant that...
1222892 tn?1312148824 I would use some kind of hormone therapy and the good news is you can use and estrogen only product. I would really start there becasue of hot flashes and night sweats. If you aren't sleeping you may have a harder time with weight. Bottom line, don't be afraid of estrogen. I would however stay away or be hesitant with over the counter hormones like Black Cohosh or Estroven etc.
Avatar f tn High levels of estrogen cause unexplained weight gain and feeling fatigued or lethargic. Low thyroid hormone is a consideration since there is family history of thyroid disease but high estrogen is a more likely cause in my opinion. A good article on high estrogen is "High Estrogen Overload Symptoms. Dangers Every Woman Should Be Aware Of" from the Healthy You Naturally website. An excerpt....
Avatar f tn The last six months I started getting my P every month for 3 weeks! My doc first prescribed me an estrogen (Estradiol) pill and told me to take it when my P was longer then 10 days. Well that didn't work. Two months ago he put me on the patch. A new patch every week. It worked the first month and I got no period at all (which is what he told me would happen) now I'm starting to bleed again. I'm so frustrated and I'm worried that it's gonna be another month long period.
Avatar f tn I’m also gaining weight without changing my diet, I’m losing a lot of hair (I’ve always had thicker hair), and my skin has become much drier. (I’ve always had more oily type skin.) I’ve felt like I lost a part of myself, and I just cry and cry for hours sometimes. I had my thyroid checked and it is normal. Is there anything you can recommend for symptoms like these after losing an ovary from a benign, ovarian cyst? Thank you for your time and help!
135864 tn?1221078029 Are you wanting to gain weight for some reason? I am hypothyroid and I have no appetite and would love to be able to enjoy food. As it stands, I have to force myself to eat just to have energy. I wouldn't worry if you are not gaining any weight, just worry if you start losing it.
Avatar f tn But also, periods can be late for a variety of reasons, stress, gaining or losing weight, illness, hormone imbalance and thyroid problems to name a few. My period was every 3 to 4 months for a while due to a slow thyroid and producing too much estrogen. So, if it doesn't show up soon, then make an appointment with your doctor dear.
Avatar n tn Also the biggest issue here is Im eating normaly, and a good amount of calories, though Im sedentary, and Im still gaining weight, despite trying desperately to maintain. Does PCOS make you gain weight slowly but surely? and does it stop? or do you just keep gaining and gaining like crazy? what can be done to stop the gaining? What causes me to gain weight in the first place? any help will be great I really desperately need to know because Im completely new to PCOS and its symptoms.
Avatar n tn but i had missed a few periods here and there. now it has been 4 months and i am having breast discomfort and am gaining weight. the last doctor stated that with my estrogen and progesterone levels so low. there was no way i could get pregnant. now i am little worried.
1416408 tn?1282230588 It depends how your body reacts to it. I can't handle hormones and estrogen so when I tried yaz and mirena (the iud) I gained weight. I'm on the progesterone only pill and have lost 25 lbs.
Avatar f tn I agree with Angebelle on reducing your weight, too much body fat throws off ones hormones. As far as birth control goes, it's really not going to do any good. I'm 5'5" 118-120 lbs and I have never been over weight, but I have PCOS and have hormonal issues and everytime the docs put on my birth control, my hormones got messed up even more. I would get a period every 2-3 months on my own and when I was on birth control pills I would never get a period.
1129232 tn?1360800358 Anyone else feel like the meds are making you pack on the lbs? This month seems especially bad (the first month i was on injectables). My stomach looks like I'm 4 mos pregnant and I've been bloated since way before my IUI. I heard that the HCG can make you bloated but I'm 10 days past the shot and I am now 8 days past my IUI and the bloating is still really bad. i also don't understand why I'm gaining weight since I'm eating really healthy.
Avatar m tn As I understand it, when one injects testosterone (lets say Testosterone Enanthate) the body converts (with an enzyme) the excess testosterone into estrogen. The pituitary gland also senses this huge influx of testosterone and sends a message to the testes in the form of Oestrogen to shut down the bodies natural production of testosterone.
319281 tn?1238542923 t stomach it, so I ate a lot of yogurt and peanut butter), full-fat dairy products (no light stuff!), and whole grain breads and pastas. The dairy really helped me gain the weight and also get lots of calcium and protein, so I would suggest that. Be sure to keep taking your prenatal vitamins, too. Don't doubt your abilities to carry a healthy & happy baby and to be a wonderful mom.
Avatar f tn Im 18 weeks and I only weight 105. What should I eat or take that will make me gain more weight? ??
Avatar f tn Everyone is different, Im 20 wks and lost 12 lbs my first trimester and have only gained 2 back. I'm scared to gain a lot of weight, I was about 60 lbs over weight when I got prego and I don't want to have to work even harder once I have the baby to get in better shape.
Avatar f tn 32 weeks and gained 23 lbs
Avatar f tn m a little worried I am gaining weight to fast. I am 20 weeks and have gained 15 lbs so far. But I gained that in a month and a half. I just think that's to much weight for such a short period.
Avatar f tn I barely ate half the time in my first trimester and was always sick second trimester wasn't sick but still couldn't eat a lot I'm in my third now and just started actually gaining weight only 4 lbs but my little boy is perfectly fine every time we have went in I was a little chunky before and now my belly has turned to all baby even before I gained a pound I had a bump
