Estradiol estriol

Common Questions and Answers about Estradiol estriol

Avatar f tn the cream is fine, but if you are working with someone who likes to mix estradiol with estriol, that should be a big discussion. Estradiol is now the preferred estrogen. Much of the hoopla around Estriol years ago has died down. I did not do well on it when I tried it in Bi-est (two estrogens in bio form... estradiol and estriol).

Avatar n tn what are the side effects of estriol/estradiol cream for a 71 yr old woman that shows no hormones in recent tests? I have many medical problems and don't want to add any more...especially in the area of weight gain.
1651832 tn?1301694205 It was used (and probably still is) in Bi-est, which is an estrogen combination of Estradiol and Estriol that you can usually only pick up from a Compounding pharmacy. It was big in Europe (as I recall...) but it was because it was tougher to get it here in the US and the push to use mostly or only Estradiol was not as prevalent at that time. It was also supposed to be the next big thing regarding protection against breast cancer.
Avatar f tn Estradiol, estrone, and estriol are forms of estrogen with estradiol and estrone being the primary (and maybe only) systemic forms of estrogen. My lab's ranges show a max non-pregnancy and non-menopausal value of estradiol to be 498 pg/mL and estrone 268 pg/mL. Estradiol can exceed 4300 in the first trimester of pregnancy. And post-menopausal levels are less than 54 and less than 65, respectively.
Avatar n tn (There were problems and they had to do a vaginal hysterectomy first.) Over the years since then, I have taken estradiol 2mg/estriol 1mg which was prescribed for me soon after by my PCP, which caused no problems. I did have another cyst removed from my colon three years ago, which was in exactly the same site. My question are about estradiol/estriol: is there any reason to stop taking this combination that worked for me for so many years.
Avatar n tn The three most common estrogens a woman's body makes are estrone, estradiol and estriol, also known as E1, E2 and E3. Hormones purchased in a pharmacy that are identical to any of these three hormones or to the hormone progesterone or testosterone are called bioidentical. It does not mean they are "natural". All are made in chemical plants. Even if they come from botanical plants, all must be processed to convert them into hormones we can use in our bodies.
Avatar f tn Hey, I'm a 60 year old women who is on Armour thyroid, and I am menopasal, I had a estradiol test, I believe it was 30 but should be 90 if I'm remembering right. Should I have a Progesterin test also? I read that Estriol is a good estrogene suppliment to use, I guess its used vaginally is that right? and it says I should use Progesterone along with it, do they have a progesteron that can be used vaginally? or is the cream good?
594914 tn?1245267284 estrone, estradiol (the most abundant) and estriol. Overall, estrogen is produced in the ovaries, adrenal glands and fat tissues. More specifically, the estradiol and estrone forms are produced in the ovaries, while estriol is produced by the placenta during pregnancy. In women, estrogen circulates in the bloodstream and binds to estrogen receptors on cells in targeted tissues, affecting not only the breast and uterus, but also the brain, bone, liver, heart and other tissues.

4289500 tn?1352266772 You want a lot of estriol. A lot of other estrogens like estradiol and estrone contribute to cancers). Walking is the best exercise for almost all problems, keep up the good work with walking. I suggest writing down your history since April and before if your able, about your menses and bring it to an OBGYN or look up on line a doctor who specializes in endometriosis and bioidentical hormone replacement. Hope this helps lead in right direction.
Avatar f tn When I brought it to the attention of my family doctor she talked to a Ped. Endo. and we had an Estriol level done and a CBC. She has been 75% on length, 50-75% on height, and 50% for her head measurements. All of her labs came back normal. Her growth x-ray of her wrist was on target for her age. They told me that this was probably cause from tiny cysts that temporarily raised her estrogen level causing some breast development. They called it Precosious(sp?) puberty.
Avatar n tn I don't use salivary hormone testing, especially for thyroid, so cannot comment on the labs. Would talk to the provider who ordered these tests for an explanation. Would start with an internist and if necessary that internist can refer you to an endocrinologist.
6322039 tn?1380731598 Anyway, I was started on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy almost one month ago, using an Estradiol patch, Estriol suppositories and progesterone orally. I have noticed an alleviation of my menopause symptoms such as the migraine headache and hot flashes but since my thyroid levels are still not where they should be, I haven't been feeling well yet. I've heard this can take some time, so I'm willing to be patient.
1344197 tn?1392822771 It is produced primarily in the ovaries, body fat, and breast. E2, Estradiol; Serves as the primarily active estrogen BEFORE menopause and is LOST at menopause when follicles are gone. It is produced primarily in the ovaries with some made from testosterone in the brain, breast, and muscle. E3, Estriol; A weak estrogen made by the placenta during pregnancy. There is only one progestin, Progesterone, which is converted to other progestins.
Avatar f tn I am taking 50mcg Synthroid and 7.5mcg Cytomel as wells as compounded estradiol/estriol gel, oral progesterone, and DHEA. My question is regarding the relationship between estrogen medication, and thyroid medication. When I increase one of those drugs (e.g. increase the Estrogen or increase the Cytomel), is it possible that I would need to increase the other? Or is the relationship reverse?

1344197 tn?1392822771 17-beta estradiol, the most biologically active; estrone, a derivative of estradiol and the second most dominant estrogen; and estriol, a very short-acting estrogen and the least biologically active. The first misconception is that US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-regulated drugs are not bioidentical. This is wrong. A long list of FDA-approved hormone products contain 17-beta estradiol and, therefore, are bioidentical.
Avatar f tn Why don't oncologists periodically check the hormone levels of estriol, estradiol, estrone and progerterone for those of us on these drugs? Why is it that we all get the same dosage for years and the only thing checked for is CA 27-29? Wouldn't it make more sense to check the hormone levels and adjust the dosage or frequency of taking these drugs accordingly? Maybe if this were done fewer women would have to put up with so many side effects.
Avatar n tn There is a connection between the symptoms, HRT and Estriol that is just now being explored. No the symptoms do not mean you have Multiple Sclerosis. We control ours with Neurontin.
659607 tn?1247119866 I had the same problem about three years after my hysterectomy and in retrospect, it was when the doctor reduced the amount of Estradiol (the only type of estrogen I will use) and added Estriol to the mix. I am glad you got relief and keep researching this information just in case the pain returns. It may mean that you will have to adjust the hormone dose again. Various problems have crept up for me from time to time and the answer has always been found in Hormone adjustments.
159063 tn?1247276417 Care must be used in the interpretation of estrone, estradiol, and estriol levels because their levels will vary on a day-to-day basis and throughout the menstrual cycle. If your doctor is monitoring your hormone levels, s/he often will be looking at trends in your levels, rising or lowering over time, rather than at single values. Below are conditions where one might see an increase or decrease of estrogen levels.
886230 tn?1242085320 -) It is a mixture of low levels of Estriol, Estradiol, Progesterone, Tesosterone & DHEA. I feel fantastic, and have more energy than I have had in a very long time! I am hoping the DHEA & Testosterone will also help boost my libido which was almost next to nothing the last few years. We are monitoring the hormone levels closly and will adjust when needed in the future. I went back to work 1 week ago and I am easing back in slowly and doing great.
Avatar f tn I started 100 mg progesterone cream a month ago, no problem, actually felt a bit calmer. 5 days ago i started .5mg estriol, 0.0125mg estradiol, 100 mg progesterone all together in a cream 1ml a day. 5th day into it, started feeling very shaky, reved up, and anxious. I am 2 years post menopausal, 128lbs 5'6" in good shape. I called the on call doctor and she said to cut the dose in half until I spoke with my doctor. I am just looking for opinions on all this.
Avatar n tn My estradiol level is menopausal (I am 38) I am so frustrated and confused and I just want to give up because I don't know what to do. I have been taking sublingual estriol which has been helping my inflammation and mood and the doc wants me to stop, which scares me, because I feel worse without it. I am on 2 grains armour, just raised from 11/2. Also on antidepressants. I am really tired and weak and weepy.
209987 tn?1451939065 An important study, this one performed in Israel, investigated how estriol might work to prevent cancer. The researchers found that estriol interferes with the pro-carcinogenic effects of estradiol by covering as many of the body’s estrogen receptors as possible, so that not as much estradiol can be absorbed. Speak to your doctor about Estriol therapy.
Avatar n tn The second component in Prempro is called Provera stated progesterone - but its really not human progesterone or progesterone at all. Human estrogen is actually a blend of three different molecules. Estriol, estrone and estradiol. These are specific blends to each individual and they have got to be properly balance for the individual to maintain wellness and ward off disease and counter act with human progesterone and testosterone for balance.
Avatar f tn In my situation, one of my hormone doctors kept increasing the level of Progesterone and decreasing the level of Estradiol. I was a bit of a mess for quite awhile on this protcol. It wasn't until I switched to Estradiol only (various forms are available from either a compounder or from an all purpose pharmacy. I currently use the Vivelle dot) and a little bit of Testosterone. You are right about the testosterone.
