Hi, I’ve recently gotten on a birth control pill called “ Norethindrone Acetate and Ethinyl Estradiol 1mg/0.02 mg” What I’ve recently discovered is after taking the three weeks of pills I’m supposed to take a week off of the pills and then start the new pack. Needless to say, I was unaware that I was supposed to be taking this week off between packs. I’ve been taking this birth control for almost 4 months without these week breaks between packs. Is this something I should worry about?
I need to get my Metformin and prenatal vitamins filled today I have to start taking that Norethindrone again starting Wednesday, November 3rd and take it all the way through the 14th. Thanks again for answering my questions!
I normally have very regular periods, but since the beginning of the year they have been only coming about every other month or so. The beginning of July my doctor put me on Norethindrone .35mg to help regulate my periods. I want to get pregnant ASAP, but it just wasnt happening with having irregular cycles. Will Norethindrone help me to ovulate or is it ultimately going to make it harder for us to conceive?
My family doctor wants me to consider trying the Combipatch (a combination of estrdiol and norethindrone). Can anyone give me any input on that? Also, I do have family history of heart disease and cancer. The only thing I’m not cunfussed about is, I need relief, and the sooner, the better! Hello, my fiancé and I are actively ttc. I haven’t had a cycle since August 2017, so a few days ago I went to the ob/gyn..he didn’t seem very concerned. He told me to lose a few pounds, which I am about 20 lbs overweight. He said PCOS could be a possibility, but for now he prescribed me Norethindrone 5mg. I am supposed to take 2 pills twice a day, & there are 20 pills total. My doc said it will help with a “breakthrough bleed” to get my cycle back.
I live very rurally and have no other options to obtain a prescription anywhere within a three hour radius, and even outside of that it will be very expensive because the appointment will be a new consult and will require a pap etc.
I found out about project ruby where you can answer questions online and receive a months supply of birth control for $20. They only have five types of birth control. The only progestin only one is .35 mg of norethindrone. Will this have the same effect for me?
I took one pregnancy test before I began Norethindrone and it of course was negative, but I took it around 6PM. Again, I seriously doubt I am pregnant, but taking another test first thing in the morning might ease my mind, but I don't want to take it if this medication is going to give me a false positive. I read in the comments of an article about dollar store pregnancy tests that Norethindrone can and will give you a false positive; the poster said they were speaking from experience.
I went to see a OB/GYN late September and my husband and I told her that we have been trying to get pregnant for years. We told her of the pregnancy that I had in 2003 that ended in a miscarriage when I got about 5 months along.

I was told that it would thin the lining of my uterus and make me fertile in other words ovulate and to take it until my periods stops then try to conceive and if I start to bleed again take it again and just keep repeating or something like that. Get add back therapy. It is minuscule amounts of norethindrone and progesterone.
My doctor (a great reproductive endocrinologist) refuses to give lupron without add back he said it is the equivalent of torture not to offer add back.
Each person reacts differently to the medication combo. I have been put on Lupron and the Norethindrone previously and I didn't get my period for about 2 months. However, I was placed on another hormone suppressant shortly after I got my period because my pain came back. I know it is frustrating because no one person reacts the same way to Lupron.
For menopausal reasons and especially at your age, I am glad to see your doctor gave you estradiol and only that (no other estrogens in the mix). As far as the patch goes, use trial and error if you have problems with it sticking. Also, sometimes if you are exercising frequently, you may be metabolizing the estradiol rather quickly, so keep a list of symptoms as they occur so that you can share this info with your doctor in case a dosing change has to be made.
