Epipen pen

Common Questions and Answers about Epipen pen

epipen

Avatar n tn I would think the benefit of the epi-pen by stopping airway constriction would outweigh the risks of the epi-pen causing problems from the PVC's. I am certainly no medical expert and just happened upon your post and thought I would chime in, but I would definitely see my dr. ASAP to get this all straightened out..you could even call a pharmacist on the weekend and get in touch with your doctor's nurse if it's too difficult to get in right away...
Avatar n tn So sorry to be late in responding- how are the bumps doing today? I wouldn't take an epi-pen for that, as long as you are freely breathing and it's just the rash you are seeing. It's very difficult to say for sure if this is an allergic reaction without a doctor being able to look at the issue and have a bit more of your medical history. If you have an epi-pen, I'd imagine you do have a known allergy issue with something?
645800 tn?1466860955 With the talk of EpiPen in Michelle's post earlier today it got me thinking about my problem with needles and other self infecting skin damage devices. I am hoping that maybe someone will have some ideas or at least where to look for help with this. My problem isn't the normal fear of needles. I can get shot or blood drawn with no problems. Well except I have to be able to watch what is going on.If I can't see it happening I will pass out.
Avatar f tn You need to discus this with your doctor. Depending on the type of reaction you have, an Epi-Pen may be necesary. This is required if you experience any kind of respiratory system symptom including sweeling tongue, swelling throat, and shortness of breath as these are life threatening. It is always best to strictly avoice food allergens. Carefully read ingredient lists.
Avatar m tn Some allergies can be life-threatening as they can precipitate anaphylactic shock in which the swelling can be so severe that it impairs the ability to breathe. Therefore, I would suggest you see someone as soon as possible. Also, keep an epi pen with you in case of an emergency. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn html If you had anaphylaxis reaction before, it is always good to carry a identification bracelet or epi pen with you. There are plenty of food that have nut component or ingredient that is not usually indicated and known. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Last September I developed hives, my GP felt it was an allergy but since then I have had 3 anyphalactic shock episodes where I have had to be hospitalised, I now carry an Epipen. I have just seen a dermatologist who changed my antihistamine presciption, and who told me the hives could be linked to my thyroid condition and has taken blood to test for C3, C4, haemoglobins, electrophoresis, full blood count and ESR. Can you explain the link please between hypothyroid and allergic reactions?
Avatar m tn Hello All, I wanted to write and share my story to see what other had done. I have been receiving allergy shots now for about 2 months steadily increasing the dose each time I went in. My problem occurred when I received my first "full strength" at a .05 dose, the maintenance stage is .5 of full strength. I went in got the shot, stayed for the 20 mins and went back to work.
Avatar n tn m also allergic to several medications (antibiotics) and my doctor said I might need an epipen when I take them to keep me alive until I get to a hospital. Just about all antibiotics close my throat. But I thought epipens contained epiphenephrine, and was told by a friend that it's bad for those with a heart arrhythmia. Has anyone here with PVCs had to use an epipen for an anaphlactic shock reaction, and if so, was it safe for the heart? Thanks.
Avatar f tn This weekend was horrible, I had two reaction to the water, on friday it was with rain, and had to give me 2 shoots of Epipen, and than I was better but shaking badly from the Epipen, and yesturday just by sweat I did a reaction and again the Epipen but just once, and I didnt even went to the hospital after, his that dangerous if I dont go???? And his it dangerous I have to many shoots?????
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, as such epipen are not available yet. Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Alternatively, the same drug can be given by the local health care provider or you need to go to emergency department.
Avatar n tn He actually suggested I use the Epi pen he has prescribed when I have symptoms. But I hate the way it makes me feel and will only use it if I REALLY need it. And those THINGS are so expensive! Seems like a lot of meds, but if they will control my symptoms (especially the tightening in my throat), then I will take whatever is necessary. Thanks for your input.
4451049 tn?1387153437 If the person having the attack carries an epinephrine autoinjector (such as an EpiPen or EpiPen Jr), give him or her a shot right away. Even if symptoms improve after an emergency epinephrine injection, a visit to the emergency department is still necessary to make sure symptoms don't return. " Ephedra------ I certainly can't say that you were really going into an attack----- but if had been me I would have stabbed my EpiPen into my thigh and then gone to the ER.
645800 tn?1466860955 I am very allergic to bee and wasp stings to the point that I can die from a sting within about 1/2 hour or so. As a result I am suppose to carry an EpiPen with me at all times ( especially since there are a lot of wasps and bees around my home ). But despite this the couple of times I have been stung I have never been able to give myself the much needed shot. And to make matter worse I always have 2 reactions to each sting.
Avatar n tn I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
Avatar f tn You may need an Epipen if it becomes more severe but in the meantime see a physician and buy some Benadryl.
Avatar f tn I have carried an epipen for the last 11 years for my son and Thank God we have not had to use it. But I was wondering if anyone did have an experience like this and had to use an epipen. Or if you have any information on urticaria pigmentosa? ( I know alot about it but I always would like to know more. Please share any information you may have or experiences you incountered.
Avatar f tn Yes, I take Rebif as well and I don't have any injection site problems. I just started 3 weeks ago though. But I take it at night right before I go to sleep. If I do it during the day, I get realllllllly sleepy. Hope everything turns out ok!
Avatar n tn t find much sign of allergic reaction, so sent me home with prescription for epi-pen. I lived on plain steamed rice for the rest of day 3. On day 5, desperate to get some proteins, I decided to have soybeans and rice. I had Benadryl prior to the meal to be safe. It didn't cause any effect on the throat, but I could feel my blood pressure rise like crazy. It came in waves. Since then I have tried potato, rice, carrot, oatmeal, which all induced swelling sensation of my tongue.
752304 tn?1233504438 How long have you been having allergy symptoms? Have you had any unusually stressful situations lately? Adrenal fatigue can lead to sudden allergy symptoms, as can intestinal problems, such as developing "leaky gut syndrome". If you can get a cortisol test to see if you have an adrenal problem, you may be able to end the allergies, by treating the adrenal fatigue. A trial of Transfer Factor could help a great deal, with immune support. An experienced nutritionist can help with this.
Avatar f tn Mostly looking for Cocoa, nuts, milk and wheat.....he also called me in an Epi Pen. My blood pressure was high and I am sure it is from anxiety....I am worried everytime I eat something. I should have my results by Friday............open to any suggestions.....
20451547 tn?1498215245 I have been having panic attacks ever since early 2015 when I was first ever stang by a wasp and went into anaphylactic shock.(the er doctor said I am allergic to bees/wasps/hornets venom. That day I was rushed back into the er and bum rushed by 5 different nurses and a doctor, one nurse asking me which arm I want the epipen in? I am like Idc I can't breath stab me! ) I almost died that day, and now I have been having panic attacks almost every other day.
Avatar n tn i have a very similar problem, my skin has been sensetive to the cold for 17 years. if i am immersed in cold water from any source, whether from rain or swimming in the sea i will go into anaphylactic shock. i have carried an epipen, inhaler and piriton everywhere with me since and have managed to avoid getting into much difficulty, even managing ski trips.
