epipen

Avatar n tn Anyways, I have to carry around a epipen everywhere I go. Last year I was working in my back yard and was stung twice, once in the face under the eye and once in my arm. I was swollen within seconds and was confused and turned pale. I stuck myself with the epipen and called the ambulance. I was in the hospital for two days while they worked on me. The doctor said the epipen saved my life.
Avatar f tn It should only be used in case of life threatening allergic reaction. Epipen is known to be associated with shaking esp. when the larger doses are taken. You should not take more than recommended dose; otherwise you may land up in complication. This is due to stimulation of the muscles. Hence, epipen should be better used under doctor's observation. If you are allergic to water following measures will help you- - Stay away from water as long as possible. - Avoid going in rain outside.

Avatar n tn Is Epipen available in India? If not, what is the alternative emergency treatment for anaphylactic shock commonly used?
Avatar f tn You may need an Epipen if it becomes more severe but in the meantime see a physician and buy some Benadryl.
535822 tn?1443976780 It seems to be worse somehow ,maybe because of the internet I actaully have seen some of it go on amongst the teens on Facebook ,but most seem to cope with it, years ago at least in UK you wre able to stand up and yell or bash back, its not allowed now here or in the UK I think the schools must take more responsibility if they see Physical or verbal abuse ,more supervision and hey the parents at home should take the Internet away .
645800 tn?1466860955 In the interim you need to have something like Medic Alert who could not only notify the paramedics, but could possibly notify someone around you who could come to your aid. You should teach everyone in your family how to use the EpiPen and all your close (in proximity and other) friends. There are also personal alarms that will sound shrilly if activated. That could alert family and neighbors.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've been anaphylaxic to tree nuts since I was a kid so have always avoided any kind of nut. Now recently I had a skin ***** test and tested 4+ to all except almonds which I didn't even get a reaction to(!!)...but pine nuts were not included. I was wondering if pine nuts/cedar nuts are included in a tree nut family? Or are they like coconut and other named nuts that aren't actually nuts (doughnuts?) ;) Thank you!
1310633 tn?1430224091 Maybe have the National Guard or the Army patrol ALL public venues? Enact a sort of "police state", in order to protect us all from the crazies. "sieg heil" anyone? *** I think we should stick with SCHOOLS ONLY for right now. If you start down the path of having ALL public places patrolled by military'types, we start to look a lot like Nazi Germany, don't you think?
Avatar n tn just remember that it still costs quite a bit even at a dental school. the prices in my area have tripled over the last 3 years to the point i am better off with a regular dentist who accepts payments.
Avatar n tn November 2 I had a bowl of clam chowder (eaten many times in my life) and a half hour later I was in anaphylactic shock. I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
Avatar f tn Yes, I take Rebif as well and I don't have any injection site problems. I just started 3 weeks ago though. But I take it at night right before I go to sleep. If I do it during the day, I get realllllllly sleepy. Hope everything turns out ok!
Avatar f tn I have carried an epipen for the last 11 years for my son and Thank God we have not had to use it. But I was wondering if anyone did have an experience like this and had to use an epipen. Or if you have any information on urticaria pigmentosa? ( I know alot about it but I always would like to know more. Please share any information you may have or experiences you incountered.
230262 tn?1316645934 See if he need some steroids, and also if he will need an epi pen for future use in case his reaction gets systemic next time or if he gets stung in the throat/mouth/airway region. Man, this suckks! no one on either side of the family is allergic to bees, so i thought he would be OK too, especially since about 2 summers ago he got stung by a whole nest of yellow jackets and he had no reaction.
20451547 tn?1498215245 I have been having panic attacks ever since early 2015 when I was first ever stang by a wasp and went into anaphylactic shock.(the er doctor said I am allergic to bees/wasps/hornets venom. That day I was rushed back into the er and bum rushed by 5 different nurses and a doctor, one nurse asking me which arm I want the epipen in? I am like Idc I can't breath stab me! ) I almost died that day, and now I have been having panic attacks almost every other day.
645800 tn?1466860955 With the talk of EpiPen in Michelle's post earlier today it got me thinking about my problem with needles and other self infecting skin damage devices. I am hoping that maybe someone will have some ideas or at least where to look for help with this. My problem isn't the normal fear of needles. I can get shot or blood drawn with no problems. Well except I have to be able to watch what is going on.If I can't see it happening I will pass out.
Avatar f tn What excuse does the schools have for not doing thorough background checks, especially in the times we live in. Where do they think these perverts are going to crop up? Where the children are for starters! Playgrounds! Scouts! Childrens Sports! Church! Lack of Common sense and unforgiveable imo! Criminal is the word that describes it. Hold who hired those idiots accountable with their jobs!
Avatar m tn Two weeks ago I went to a pot luck supper and went into anaphylaxis. In the ER we tried to figure out what might have caused this serious reaction. At first I thought it was herring since I ate a lot of it and had not eaten it in years however my allergist tested me for all fish and even made a special scratch test for the herring in wine sauce and I had no reaction. He told me to try to track down all the ingredients of everything else I ate.
Avatar m tn I was just wondering if ere was a name for this and what keywords I should be searching for in American online pharmacies because I really can't afford a doctor's visit to see what I'm allergic to and I have an epipen from my shellfish allergy.
Avatar n tn So sorry to be late in responding- how are the bumps doing today? I wouldn't take an epi-pen for that, as long as you are freely breathing and it's just the rash you are seeing. It's very difficult to say for sure if this is an allergic reaction without a doctor being able to look at the issue and have a bit more of your medical history. If you have an epi-pen, I'd imagine you do have a known allergy issue with something?
Avatar m tn prescribed prednizol and a codine based cough medicine. The cough was cleared up. My wife was called back in 3 days later for her annual flu shot. A day later she has broken out with severe hives. Our MD is not available for a few days, so I thought I would investigate on my own. Could this be a reaction to the flu shot? The medication? Both? or something not related to either? I undeerstand and antihistine would help. Correct?
4451049 tn?1387153437 If the person having the attack carries an epinephrine autoinjector (such as an EpiPen or EpiPen Jr), give him or her a shot right away. Even if symptoms improve after an emergency epinephrine injection, a visit to the emergency department is still necessary to make sure symptoms don't return. " Ephedra------ I certainly can't say that you were really going into an attack----- but if had been me I would have stabbed my EpiPen into my thigh and then gone to the ER.
Avatar n tn If she is not allergic to all triazole antifungals, it should be safe... She could take it but have her epipen in close range, just in case, and maybe take it while a doctor is present, just in case. To be on the safe side, switch to another imidazole or thiazole antifungal instead.
Avatar f tn Definitely talk to your doctor in the morning. I have anaphylaxis when stung by bees. They told me to carry my epipen (shot) & take it, then go to the hospital if I got stung. They told me to do what I normally do, but get monitored. They may want you to come in since your immune system is low, due to being pregnant & the reaction could be worse or cause a fever.
