Epipen for toddlers

Common Questions and Answers about Epipen for toddlers

epipen

Avatar n tn I have some serious allergies and often they close my throat. I live 20 minutes from the nearest doctor or hospital. Until recently I always felt safe because I could use an epipen and that would give me time to get help. But now I have been diagnosed with about 8000 PVCs a day, and was told by another sufferer that I shouldn't use an epipen anymore, that it's not a good idea for those with PVCs.
Avatar m tn In some cases, people who are allergic to wheat, beans (legumes), milk or other foods can have an allergic reaction to soy. You can confirm this by blood test to see for raised IgE levels and skin testing for soy products. I would suggest you obtain a referral to an allergist or an ENT who does allergy testing. Some allergies can be life-threatening as they can precipitate anaphylactic shock in which the swelling can be so severe that it impairs the ability to breathe.
Avatar f tn This weekend was horrible, I had two reaction to the water, on friday it was with rain, and had to give me 2 shoots of Epipen, and than I was better but shaking badly from the Epipen, and yesturday just by sweat I did a reaction and again the Epipen but just once, and I didnt even went to the hospital after, his that dangerous if I dont go???? And his it dangerous I have to many shoots?????
Avatar n tn Is Epipen available in India? If not, what is the alternative emergency treatment for anaphylactic shock commonly used?

Avatar f tn The other day my friend had a major asthma attack that almost sent him to the ER-- he thankfully had an epipen nearby. He thinks what triggered it was a laxative (sennosides in pill form) he took a couple of hours before. Is this even possible? And if so, should he be avoiding all things laxative? I wouldn't be asking these questions here, but he is too stubborn to go to a doctor like he should.
Avatar f tn For pollen, dog and cat hair try taking some antihistamine like Zyrtec (works well for me). For the food allergies, you just have to avoid them. Try Googling some gluten-free recipes.
645800 tn?1466860955 I am very allergic to bee and wasp stings to the point that I can die from a sting within about 1/2 hour or so. As a result I am suppose to carry an EpiPen with me at all times ( especially since there are a lot of wasps and bees around my home ). But despite this the couple of times I have been stung I have never been able to give myself the much needed shot. And to make matter worse I always have 2 reactions to each sting.
Avatar n tn I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
Avatar f tn Get tested for allergies. It sounds like you have ingested or been exposed to something that is an allergen (to you). You may need an Epipen if it becomes more severe but in the meantime see a physician and buy some Benadryl.
Avatar f tn It started only in the injection site. But now its in other areas for ex my chest it itched so bad that I noticed a bruise, which is un normal for me.
Avatar f tn I have carried an epipen for the last 11 years for my son and Thank God we have not had to use it. But I was wondering if anyone did have an experience like this and had to use an epipen. Or if you have any information on urticaria pigmentosa? ( I know alot about it but I always would like to know more. Please share any information you may have or experiences you incountered.
230262 tn?1316645934 d suggest you get a pediatric Epipen. Personally I keep 2 on hand. You should have 1 at school for him and one either in your purse or at home. He should have one available at all times. These allergies accelerate quickly. Check for dosage with your doctor, but you can also use benadryl for allergic reactions. I'm so sorry this happened to your children. These stings hurt horribly! And right now with school starting, you all have enough on your plate. Good luck at the clinic tonight.
20451547 tn?1498215245 I have been having panic attacks ever since early 2015 when I was first ever stang by a wasp and went into anaphylactic shock.(the er doctor said I am allergic to bees/wasps/hornets venom. That day I was rushed back into the er and bum rushed by 5 different nurses and a doctor, one nurse asking me which arm I want the epipen in? I am like Idc I can't breath stab me! ) I almost died that day, and now I have been having panic attacks almost every other day.
645800 tn?1466860955 After I was stabilized they sent me home with an RX for an EpiPen. But 4 hours later I was back in the ER with a second reaction to that bee sting that was just as bad as the first one. This time they kept me for about 8 hours just to make sure I didn't have yet another episode. You can just imagine the nightmare it was with my insurance company when the hospital billed them for 2 ER visits on the same day for the same thing.
Avatar m tn Nicotine is a vasoconstricter, meaning it makes it harder to pump blood through microcirculation. Furthermore there is no antidote. Nicotine is is absolutely contraindicated. You have a potentially life-threatening problem that cannot be solved by home remedies. You do not know when the situation may deteriorate into what is called a "locked-lung" resulting in death. The fact you have observed the symtoms progressively get worse over a period of time disturbs me.
1019316 tn?1262615059 I have two toddlers and I know how they can climb believe me I know. I am a mom of two and know not to let toddlers get to medication.
1201433 tn?1328997637 Whatever you do whether you decide to treat yet or not make sure you WATCH and wait ... don't just do the wait part. At stage 2 you still have some wiggle room time to decide what is best. Do you have a good support group around you of family and friends? Good insurance? Time off if you need it? There are lots of things to consider. Myself I was geno1A and 1B both and already stage 3 so I didn't think I had time to wait. Treatment is long and hard but it's doable....

Also feel free to join if you're expecting or TTC and want to get in on the helpful tips before your little one gets here...
Avatar m tn For a couple of years I started having this reaction to mangoes, where my lips burn and start to get crusty, and it has developed to that, my mouth gets itchy and dry, and my throat becomes raw. My aunt who used to be a RN gave me something called aclivor (both a pill and some kind of paste for my lips) which seemed to work for the first event. But lately, I've been running out of the paste and the only place I can find aclivor is on online pharmacies from Mexico.
Avatar f tn If there is a toddler group near you, it may be worth your while to put the toddlers there for a few hours or get a member of the family or a trusted friend to look after the toddlers for you to get some "me time", relaxation and rest. Make an appointment to see your doctor and discuss this with him as there may be another reason for feeling so tired and not being able to sleep. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn I drive a 2008 Ford Focus S. What car seat would be best for my car? I can't trade it in, and I know they make car seats that are easier for two doors. I'm wanting opinions because I have no idea what to get.
